The next morning Lena rose early since there were preparations to be made – something she'd never had to do before. And, while in other years she would have felt rather sad and powerless and would just have forced herself through her daily workout and then gone to the office to do some work, today the prospect of Christmas with Kara gave her lots of energy. A small smile even graced her face as she got out of her luxurious bed and saw a clear blue sky outside and the sun reflected on the snow-covered city.
"Today really is a beautiful day", she whispered to herself and then turned from the window to go and put on her sports outfit.
She proceeded to her personal gym and started her routine. Having her personal workout space was definitely one of the many perks of being a billionaire. After about thirty minutes Lena was thoroughly out of breath and sweaty as she finished her workout so she took a shower and washed her hair before putting on one of her fluffy bathrobes and walking into the kitchen.
She prepared her favorite coffee and poured a good big mug to take to the living room. Lena then stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows yet again – she loved the light and the view over the city – and sipped her coffee, while in her mind going over the preparations she needed to make before tonight's party. Yes, she would go and buy the presents she'd put down in her list yesterday night and then also get a big box of Kara's favorite cookies. The thought of the reporter's happy face when she realized Lena had brought these cookies made the CEO smile even now. It gave her such joy to see Kara happy and every time Lena was the reason for this happiness she was amazed that she could evoke such emotion in anyone. She was a Luthor, after all, and was not used to being popular with anyone, let alone making others happy with her presence or actions. But coming to National City and, especially, meeting Kara had changed Lena's life profoundly. She'd wanted to do good through L-Corp before, but with Kara in the picture and all the things they'd been through together already, the CEO was determined to do all the good she could in any way she could.
After finishing her coffee, Lena got dressed in a casual outfit and then prepared herself a small breakfast before heading out and getting into her waiting limousine. She asked her driver to take her to all the different shops she needed to visit in order to collect all the presents she would need. When Lena arrived back home it was already around 4 o'clock and, since the party would be starting at 7, she decided to have another shower and then get another coffee before getting dressed and heading out.
