A/N: I'm enjoying writing this fanfiction. There were some things that got scrapped, but I'm thinking of making those into separate fics.
The wind was a bit stronger than usual. Odd, considering how it wasn't usually this windy.
"I can't remember the last time the wind was this strong.", said a student in the distance, having taken notice of the abnormally strong wind. The comment was followed by the wind gusting violently for a few seconds, now sending trash and some objects flying throughout the exterior of the school.
"The wind is a little strong, isn't it?", Ulrich said, only noticing it now. A few moments after he finished his sentence, he promptly got hit in the head by a soda can. He let out a slight sound of pain and rubbed the area where the can had hit him.
"Yeah, this isn't normal.", replied Yumi. The wind had now gotten stronger, knocking Jeremy's glasses off. Jeremy set his laptop to his side and crouched down to at least try to find his glasses. After a few seconds of searching, he had found them. He equipped his glasses, only to have them blown away yet again, along with his laptop. Sounds of confusion now filled the area that our heroes were in due to the strength of the wind. Jeremy tried to find his glasses but they were too far gone.
"This could be a XANA attack, you know.", suggested Yumi, her arms now crossed.
"I think Yumi's gone a little crazy over this XANA stuff.", said Odd, making a "cuckoo" gesture with his finger by swirling it around his left temple.
"Odd, I'm serious.", Yumi said, unamused by Odd's comment.
"I'm going to have to agree with Odd on this one. I think that XANA and Lyoko are starting to get to your head.", said Ulrich, putting an arm on her shoulder. The wind suddenly increased in force and speed, knocking the group of five down. Multiple people that were also unfortunate enough to be outside at the time were also knocked down, causing slight injury to most of them.
"Ugh... I changed my mind. Yumi is probably right. This could actually be one of XANA's attacks. We all know that he wouldn't miss out on an opportunity to hurt others.", said Ulrich, getting up and dusting himself off.
"Agreed. We'll have to look and see if this is an attack if we can get in the building.", Jeremy said, now trying to find his laptop since he had asserted that his glasses weren't near his location. He looked to his left and saw a blurry gray object, shaped like a rectangle. He quickly ran over and picked up the object that he thought was his laptop. It had suffered a few scratches because the wind had pushed it off of where he had put it. The kids stood up and ran to the doors next to the spot they were at, Aelita taking Jeremy's free hand so that he wouldn't get left behind due to his impaired vision. Ulrich tried opening the door, but it wouldn't budge due to the strong winds.
"Hey, I need some help here!", Ulrich yelled, still trying to open it. Yumi came up and assisted him by also putting her hands on the handle and pulling it back. The door came open, allowing the other three to get in. Unfortunately, Ulrich and Yumi didn't have enough strength to keep the door open any longer. It was amazing how they were even still standing due to the wind and fatigue. Soon after the door closed, it was opened again by the other three. They held the door so that Ulrich and Yumi could quickly dash in.
"What would we do without you?", joked Ulrich, before stepping in. They were now inside the main building and standing in a group. Some students were still outside, taking shelter from the powerful winds, and others were taking shelter inside of Kadic's various buildings. There were children and faculty upstairs in the same building that our heroes were inside. Jeremy opened his laptop and a beeping noise was emitted from the laptop. The superscan had automatically alerted him to one of XANA's attacks. The wind had now gotten stronger, causing the door to now be locked in place.
"Oh, man! That's exactly what we needed!", said Ulrich, now feeling frustrated.
"Don't worry, you've got me around to keep you company!", replied Odd. Everyone else ignored him. Seconds later, a XANAfied Jim kicked the doors open and approached the kids. He had an electrical attack charged, ready to fire.
"Yeah, and we've got him too.", said Ulrich, getting prepared to hold him off with Yumi.
"Shoot, we need to get to the factory! I'll need Aelita and Odd to come with me.", said Jeremy, eliciting a nod of agreement from the two.
"No problem!", said Odd, breaking a window by getting a running start and proceeding to defenestrate himself in his own fashion by landing outside on his feet, while the other two stood to the left and right of the window. As soon as the window was broken, shattered glass and debris from the window frame came whizzing by like bullets. The broken pieces of glass shattered into smaller pieces as they hit the wall and some pieces of window frame snapped in half when they hit the same wall. Or nothing happened to them at all.
"You're crazy!", shouted Aelita.
"I know!", replied Odd.
Odd had suffered a few cuts on his face and hands but he had felt worse pain. He tried to be cool about the shard of glass that was stuck in his bleeding cheek and the other wounds on his person. He struggled to stand up and keep his balance as the strong gale sent him into the wall, causing him to hit his head and groan in pain. It was times like this that he wished he wasn't so scra- skinny. He rubbed the back of his head and finally stood up, taking the shard of glass out of his cheek, and shouting and signaling to Aelita and Jeremy to follow him. Complying with his urgent request, Aelita climbed over the window and carefully stepped on the ground.
She didn't get knocked down by the wind, but it took her a few moments to get used to the violent gusts of wind that were coming her way. Jeremy got on top of the window, having Aelita help him get down. Soon after she got him down from the window base he was standing on, an electrical attack came colliding with the wall. The sound of the attack made the area around it shake.
"We'll leave him to you!", said Odd, now setting off for the factory. Jeremy and Aelita were following behind Odd, leaving Yumi and Ulrich behind to deal with Jim by themselves. Ulrich let out a battle cry, charging at 'Jim' in an attempt to attack. He tried to kick the possessed Jim, but his foot and the rest of him just passed right through, causing 'Jim' to destabilize and then quickly restabilize.
This caused 'Jim' to turn around and lift the boy up by his neck, squeezing it tightly and blocking his airway. Ulrich was now suffocating and he would pass out soon or even worse, die if he didn't get help. Yumi rushed to get behind Jim and jumped on his back, covering his eyes with her palms and serving as a distraction.
"Let him go!", shouted Yumi, holding on tightly to the possessed gym teacher's back.
'Jim' dropped Ulrich, causing Ulrich to land on his back and groan in pain. He coughed multiple times.
'Jim' grabbed Yumi by her forearms and tossed her over his shoulder, causing Yumi to land on the floor with a loud thud. 'Jim' decided that he would cut this short by proceeding to grab them both and throw them into the wall, knocking the wind out of them. However, he wasn't done with them yet. The children were down for the count, now attempting to gasp for air. It was no use. They couldn't breathe. They wriggled in pain until they could breathe again, inhaling deeply as 'Jim' approached them menacingly. The room was filled with heavy and thunderous footsteps. But the sound of the footsteps were now replaced by the crackling of electricity that now filled the room as the possessed gym teacher towered over them.
"I'm really worried about Ulrich and Yumi! I hope they'll be able to stand their ground against XANA!", shouted Aelita, her voice letting the other two know that she was clearly worried for them as she tried to get through the intense wind.
"Don't worry, Aelita! I'm sure they'll be able to outsmart XANA!", shouted Jeremy, gently squeezing the hand that Aelita was using to keep him closer to her due to his lack of clear vision. She would've gotten his glasses for him when they were blown away the second time if they hadn't gone too far for her to find and quickly retrieve them.
The hand squeeze calmed Aelita's nerves, but the three were unaware of what was happening back at the main building. The three kids continued running to their destination (albeit a bit slower than usual due to the wind), staying close to each other as they would be at a big disadvantage if XANA had somehow managed to attack them while they were trying to get to the factory and one of them was alone. After what seemed like miles, they had finally made it to the secret entrance.
Odd quickly opened it, hopping down and onto the ladder. He climbed the ladder a few rungs down into the sewer before being joined by Aelita and Jeremy. Jeremy climbed down the ladder slowly as he still couldn't see properly. Hopefully, a return to the past would fix his vision problem. As soon as he made it down, Aelita again took his hand and the three ran to get to the bridge so that they wouldn't leave Jeremy behind.
Back at Kadic Academy, 'Jim' was now electrocuting Ulrich and Yumi. He laughed villainously as he heard them scream in pain. Once he felt that it was enough, he stopped electrocuting them and used his brute strength to push the doors open. A torrent of wind filled the school, along with some debris that was in front of the door. The school now had small amounts of trash inside of it.
If it had gotten there under regular circumstances, Kadic would've lost its reputation long ago. Coughing, Yumi got up, and weakly crawled over to Ulrich. She fell over as she couldn't keep crawling, but she was close enough to Ulrich to check his pulse. There was a faint pulse meaning that Ulrich was still alive, just barely. She breathed a sigh of relief, hoping that Jeremy and the others would safely make it to the factory so this could be over for now. XANA had hit them harder than he'd ever had, and it was taking its toll. Yumi fell unconscious next to Ulrich.
Odd, Jeremy, and Aelita were now inside of a descending elevator that had served them for well over a year since they had discovered the supercomputer and Lyoko. The elevator was set to go to the laboratory.
"I wonder, how is Einstein going to virtualize us if he can't see properly?", said Odd, looking like he was thinking hard about his question.
"He won't be virtualizing us, I will.", replied Aelita.
"Awesome. I can't wait.", said Odd, pumping his fist into the air. Aelita rolled her eyes as the elevator doors opened, now running into the laboratory. Jeremy quickly followed her and stood next to her as she put Jeremy's headset on and sat at the supercomputer's human interface. Odd was one floor below them, now stepping into the scanner in the middle of the large room.
"Ready, Odd?", Aelita questioned over the intercom, now ready to virtualize him.
"You know it!", replied Odd.
"Transfer Odd. Scanner Odd. Virtualization!", were the words that Odd heard before his entire molecular structure was broken down and rebuilt into a virtual form.
