======CONTINUATION INTO PART IV======
[The scene opens to Chip and Gadget walking down the stairs and exiting the church as the wedding march plays.]
"Here, they come." A female voice says.
Everyone cheers as they make their way to the front steps, where everyone gathers for a photo. They kiss as the picture is taken in the rain. They then proceed over to the taxi, where Ernie gives them a ride. They get in, and Ernie drives away.
"If either of you two sees a stranger around here, it's me." He said.
The two break from their profuse kissing.
"Hey, look, someone is driving this cab." Chip said.
"Bert, the cop sent this over for you, Chip," Ernie said.
Ernie passed a bottle of champagne to Chip.
"Champagne, he shouldn't have. This is great. Remind me to thank him for the next time I see him." Chip said.
Ernie then looks over in his mirror. "Hey Chip, don't look now, but there is something funny going on at the bank." He said.
Chip looked behind him to see most of the town running towards the bank.
"Hey Ernie, if you have any money in the bank, you better hurry." A stranger said.
Chip jumps out of the taxi. Gadget calls for his return. "Chip, let's not stop. Come on, let's go." She said.
"Just a minute, dear. I have to get to the bottom of this." He said.
Chip ran down to the Building and Loan to see a large crowd gathered outside, waiting for it to be opened. Chip pushed past and opened the doors, running upstairs and is then greeted by Monterey Jack.
"Just take seat folks, will help you as soon as we can." Chip said.
"Chip." Monterey Jack said quietly.
Chip walked over and entered his office, closing the door behind him.
"We're in serious trouble, Chip. Serious trouble." Monterey Jack said.
"Now calm down; what happened." He asked.
"The bank called our loan." Monterey Jack said.
"When?" He asked.
"About an hour ago, I handed over all of our cash." Monterey Jack said.
"All of it!" Chip exclaimed.
"Every cent of it, and it's still not enough to cover what we owe." Monterey Jack said.
"Holy mackerel!" Chip stated.
"And then I got scared, Chip and closed the doors. I don't know what to do." Monterey Jack said.
The telephone then rings. Monterey Jack answers.
"Chip, it's Fat Cat." He said.
"Chip, there is a rumour around town that you have closed your doors for good. Which I am happy to hear. Say, are you all right? Do you need any police assistance?" Fat Cat asked.
"Why would we need police?" Chip asked.
"Well, you know, all of those angry customers of yours. It's a recipe for the mob, you know." Fat Cat said.
"No, that won't be necessary." Chip said.
"I've just guaranteed the bank sufficient funds to meet their needs. They'll close for a week, then reopen," Fat Cat explained.
"He just took over the bank." Chip said to Monterey Jack.
"I may lose a fortune, but I am willing to guarantee your people, too. Just tell them to bring their shares over to me, and I'll pay 50 cents on the dollar for each share." Fat Cat said.
"Oh, you never miss a trick, do you, Fat Cat? Well, you're going to miss this one." Chip said.
"If you close your doors before 6:00 p.m. today, you will never reopen." Fat Cat said.
Chip hung up the phone and exited the office to be greeted by the crowd.
"Now, just remember that this thing is not as black as it appeared. I have some news for you, folks. I was talking to Fat Cat, and he's guaranteed cash payments at the bank. The bank is going to reopen next week." Chip said to everyone.
"But Chip, I've got my money here." One animal said.
"Did he guarantee this place?" Another said.
"Well, no, Charlie. I didn't even ask him. We don't need him over here." Chip explained.
"Well, I'll take mine now," Charlie said.
"You're thinking of this place wrong. Your money is not here. Your money is in Joe's house and others. The money is invested in building new properties and funding projects." Chip explained.
"Well, I have 242 dollars in here, and 242 dollars is not going to break anybody," Tom said.
"Well, okay, Tom. Sign this, and you'll get your money in 60 days." Chip said.
"60 days? I need it now, Chip." Tom said.
"Hey Tom, did you get your money yet?" One animal asked.
"No, I haven't," Tom said.
"Well, I did; Fat Cat is paying out 50 cents on the dollars to anyone with shares here." He explained.
"50 cents on the dollars." The crowd exclaims.
The crowd proceeds to leave, but Chip runs ahead and closes the door.
"Now hold on just a minute; you can't go to Fat Cat because he's trying to run us out of business. Can't you all see that?" If we're gone, then you'll never get fair investments or new houses in this town again. Fat Cat is only in it for himself, and he doesn't care about the likes of us. Just give us some time, and we will get you your money." Chip pleaded.
"Well, Chip, we need it now. How are we supposed to live without it?" Tom asked.
"How much do you need?" Gadget asked.
"Hey! I got 2000 dollars. This will tie us over until the bank reopens. Now how much do you all need?" Chip asked.
As the crowd told Chip the amount they needed, he paid out according to their request, and by 6:00 p.m., they closed their doors for that night. Chip realized he forgot about his honeymoon with Gadget and rushed off in the cab. He was dropped off at the old abandoned home where he once threw wishing rocks at. He entered to see a candlelight dinner prepared for in the worn down-home. He looked around to see the walls decorated with travel posters. He removed his hat and coat and walked over to Gadget. They kissed and held each other.
"This is what I wished for." Gadget said.
"You're wonderful." He said.
The scene fades out to numerous animals helping Mr. Martini move his furniture to his new home that he purchased thanks to Chip's family business's help.
"I see you rented a new house." One animal said to Mr. Martini.
"Rent? Did you hear this, Chip? I own the house." Mr. Martini said proudly.
"Well, congratulations." He said.
"No more, do I have to live like pigs in Fat Cat's field." He said.
Eventually, they all piled into the cars and drove over to the newly built home. Chip stood in front, giving a speech, and he handed over the keys to Mr. Martini. Sam Wainwright then greets him.
"Hee-Haw," Sam said.
"Sam Wainwright." Chip said to Gadget.
"Oh, who cares." She said.
Chip and Gadget continue to show the home to the Martini family.
[The scene fades to an advisor speaking to Fat Cat in his bank office.]
"You see this, this park that once was nothing is now filling up with these pretty little homes with animals who used to rent from you. Your field is now turning into just that. If I were you, I'd.." He explained.
"You are not me." Fat Cat interrupted.
"As I say, no skin off my nose." The advisor said.
The advisor leaves the office with his papers.
"The Oakley family has been a pain in my neck for long enough." Fat Cat said.
Fat cat then pushed the intercom.
"Yes, sir?" The women said.
"Get in here." Fat Cat instructed.
[The scene transitions to Chip and Gadget chatting with Sam and his wife.]
"We just stopped in town to look at the new factory, and then we are going to drive down to Florida," Sam explained.
"Oh." Chip said.
"Say, why don't your friends join us?" Sam's wife asked.
"Why sure, say why don't you and Gadget drive down and join us in Florida." Sam offered.
"Oh, I'm afraid I couldn't get away, Sam." Chip said.
"Still got the nose to the old grindstone, eh? Jane, I offered to let Chip in on the ground floor in plastics, and he turned me down." He said.
"Oh, now, don't rub it in." Chip scoffed.
"I'm not rubbing it in. Well, I guess we better run along." He snickered.
"Well, take care, Sam, Jane." Chip said, shaking their paws.
Sam and Jane returned the gesture and then got in their car and left for Florida.
[The scene transitions to the next day, where Chip is lighting a cigar in Fat Cat's office.]
"Thank you for your hospitality Fat Cat. So what can I do for you?" Chip asked.
"Well, Chip, I think the time has come to where I make you an offer you can't refuse." Fat Cat said.
"An offer I can't refuse? What is this really about?" Chip asked.
"I want to hire you to work for me." He said.
"Hire me?" Chip said.
"Yes, I want you to run my properties, manage my affairs. Chip, I'll start you off at $20,000 a year." Fat cat said.
Chip's mouth dropped. "$20,000 a year!" He exclaimed.
"Yes, I bet you wouldn't mind living in the nicest house in town, buying your wife nice clothes and travelling the world. Would you, Chip?" Fat Cat asked.
"Would I? You're not talking to someone else, are you?" He said.
"Yes, I'm speaking to you." He replied.
"Well, Fat Cat, this is a nice offer, and I'll, but I need some time to think it over." Chip said.
"Oh, sure, I'll give you three days to decide. Talk it over with your wife. Come back in three days, and I'll have the papers ready." He said.
"What about the Building and Loan?" Chip asked.
"Are you afraid of success? I'm offering you a three-year contract. Forget the Building and Loan. It's gone if you join me. Is it a deal or isn't it?" Fat Cat snarled.
"Well, Fat Cat, I need some time." He said.
"Oh, sure, sure. Go home and talk it over. Come back in that time frame to sign." Fat Cat said.
Chip turned to leave but then turned back.
"You know what? I don't need time to decide. The answer is no! I'm not giving up the Building and Loan so that you can control this town some more. My answer is final." Chip said, storming out of the office.
Chip returns home to his wife in a fluster, to find out that she is pregnant with his first child. Chip excitedly embraces her, and they kiss, knowing that they will soon share their first of many children.
