Eri's first Christmas: The Perfect Gift

Eri pouts as she swings her legs from her chair, watching as Class 1-A set up to celebrate Christmas in the dorms. They were making an extra big deal about it after hearing that Eri had never celebrated christmas before, but in hindsight probably should have realised. Meanwhile the unicorn was more focused on her favourite Hero, student hero Izuku Midoriya, and what to get him to show how important he was to her. The problem was… she didn't know what to do, it was her first christmas after all and it's not she had ever even WANTED to get a gift for someone before now, never mind been able to. With that in mind she decided the only option she had, was to ask around, see what the other students were giving and see if that could help her make a decision.

Kachan was at first no help at all, as his initial response was essentially "Fuck off bitch!" before Mina and Kiri covered his mouth (maybe she shouldn't have called him Uncle Kachan to his face? Eh not important and she'd heard worse while in the possession of Overhaul so no big). When the pink girl and rock boy had calmed him down, he admitted to ordering a limited edition All Might shirt for the nerd… and a set of notebooks, as he was pretty sure he was running low with all the quirks he'd been documenting since getting into UA.

When she asked Moma, the creation girl revealed that given her upbringing money was never an issue, but for Izu-kun she went for something besides 'the most expensive thing in the room'... though it probably ended up being that regardless. It was a set of hero figurines, most notably Nana (having gotten 2 and a Gran Torino figurine because she thought Toshinori would like hero merch of his former master and trainer too) and Lariat, but she made sure to have collected every one of Izuku's predecessor's in hero merch form, even using her quirk to make one of the 1st user so he wasn't forgotten. This was also where she got Hitoshi's present, as being an underground hero meant there was no such thing as Eraserhead merch, shame, so she had to make one with her quirk, him standing with his quirk active as well as his hair and capture scarf floating gave the figurine the epicness it deserved, which Eri agreed with.

Her dad's friend Iida was happy to inform the little girl (with overly dramatic arm chopping) he got Izuku a copy of the UA handbook, updated quirk laws (because apparently Izuku pointing out several loopholes in the laws after kicking the ever loving shit out of Stain annoyed some people in the Commision. Fuck 'em)… and an Ingenium: Mark 1 (Tenya called himself Ingenium: Mark 2, so his brother was remembered as the original, and he didn't feel like he was stealing Tensei's fans even if unintentionally if he'd simply called himself Ingenium) plushie, similar to one he himself had owned since he was a child. Eri thought it looked cute, which is weird given it was also basically a robot.

On her way to ask Uraraka, she bumped into Mineta. Asking him her now default question, the hairball quirked teen began to chuckle perversely, which should have worried Eri, but she was babysat by Nemuri so decided to just keep walking and let Mineta daydream

Ochako, after coming down from the ceiling due to Eri's question, revealed that she and Deku knew what the other was getting them, as they'd both been looking at hero merch and found the perfect gifts for the other. He got her a figurine of her favourite hero: 13 as well a footie pj's of said hero, while she got him a poster of what the media dubbed All Might's "FINAL SMASH-U!" (Basically the moment right after he United States of Smash-ed AFO's face) signed by the man himself, a feat much easier these days given he lived across campus in the staff accommodations.

When she asks Mr. Aizawa, the man grumbles that Problem child doesn't deserve anything for the headaches he gives him on a weekly basis. After getting a jab in the ribs from Ms Joke he sighs, then says he'll get a present if he stops trying to give him grey hairs, which has Emi and Eri both giggling at his gruff frown.

Walking around the explosion (living in the 1A dorm had its advantages) Eri found Mei and Melissa in the Support studio, and decided to save time and ask both at the same time. Mei loudly and cheerfully shouted she was making 'Plus Ultra cute babies' for all of 1A, even showing off a gyroscopic stabiliser for Ochako's costume, hoping it would help with her balance when under her own quik's influence, as well as dealing with the nausea. Melissa grins, impressed by her fellow inventor, before revealing her present for Izuku: improved Full Gauntlets, as well as leg braces with a similar premise/function she'd come up with after hearing of the change/addition to his fighting style, impressing the unicorn child, imagining her hero decked out in all the girls awesome support gear. The only problem, was it lead to an argument between the 2 inventors on who made the best gear, which was Eri's cue to leave before she was made pick a side, as she'd watched the same happen to Izuku and on occasion Tsuyu and Momo, as well as seen Jirou flee to avoid getting put in that position.

Mr. Gentle and La Brava were getting him a video camera and a book on how to present yourself while on screen, thinking even if he didn't use the camera for streams like they did, it should help him when dealing with the Press. The Mineta sized girl told her if she still couldn't find the perfect gift she could come back to them and they'd help her make a 'Happy Christmas' video for Izuku, while Gentle smiled and gave Eri a head pat (making him officially Eri's favourite weirdo) before she left.

Shoto had decided on Hero merch, specifically Endeavour and Hawks branded ones, as he was sure Izuku collected all heroes, even if he didn't particularly like them personally. Apparently Dabi had the same idea, except his Endeavour figure was half melted as he'd been in the middle of torching it when she came looking for advice. This led to a small staring contest before the burned man blinked and shooed her away, the girl nodded and walked out without any words spoken between them.

Asking the elder Midoriya was about as unhelpful as Kachan, mostly because he was busy asking 'important' questions, such as 'what is a little girl doing in Tartarus?'. When Eri explains what was going on, the man chuckles and tells her Izuku will get his gift from him when he finally visits himself. He then ruffles her hair and gives her, her gift early, the girl not seeing what everyone was afraid of as she snuck out (Add to list of ways Overhoe fucked up Eri)

Inko Midoriya was… surprisingly even less help, as she gasped, panicked, muttered about being too young to be a Grandmother and cried till she passed out, Eri was glad she'd been escorted by Miss Midnight at the time so there was a hero nearby to save the soft and sweet teddy bear of a woman.

Speaking of, she asked Miss Midnight and she also laughed and made a perverted grin, then said she had something that would make things fun for one of her favourite students (turned out she meant Mama Toga, not Izuku). Eri isn't sure why Momo and Izuku went bright red at the plunger Toga pulled out as well as the roll of … she's not really sure, assuming it to be a gag gift like when Midnight swapped out Aizawa's Ultra strength 'drink and die' coffee with decaf, leading to him passing out in the middle of homeroom and sleeping until lunch the following day.

Finally she stopped in her last option and honestly the best one: Mama Toga. Himiko pointed out that she was a rather good artist for her age, something she and Izuku had bonded over, and that especially at her age people love to get drawings from kiddos. She'd taken and framed some pictures for Izuku and Momo, but given the almost Ochaku level blush and Nemuri grin on the vampire's face, Eri had a feeling both photos were lewd (she hoped she was using the word right). Still she decided to try Himiko's suggestion, borrowing the blond's chair, desk and sketchbook, an idea coming easily and if the cooing Mama Toga made was any indication, she'd done a good job.

Finally the day arrived and so many cool things were exchanged:

Tenya was rendered speechless by the juicer he'd been given, Sato explaining like with his sugar it's good to know for yourself the quality of what you're using to run your quirk. It actually paired nicely with Ochako and Izuku's gift of a mug with 'Best President ever. Orange Juice only' written on it. The engine boy looked almost at tears, before loudly announcing he wouldn't let them down and would be worthy of the title given to him, rapid arm chopping included.

Jirou finally revealed her final product/gift: 1A's Christmas album, something most of them were aware of given she'd managed to get them to actually sing some of them for her, even getting Eri to sing 'Where are you Christmas?' Tokoyami and Dark Shadow sing 'You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch' and while nobody would say anything, somehow got Tsuyu and Ochako to duet 'Baby it's Cold Outside'. Why they weren't allowed to listen to Kachan's contribution (she'd read the playlist sheet, it was 'Merry Fricking Christmas': featuring Bakugo, Todoroki and Hagakure)Eri didn't know, but the moment the song started Iida was up like a shot and clicked to the next one. It was a big surprise to hear Toshinori sing 'Redneck 12 Days of Christmas' but given the man's love of America it made an odd amount of sense, Jirou admits she thought Toshi would be too busy and planed for Pony from 1B to do it instead, but Monoma sneering at her and telling her she was unwelcome in the 'Superior Dorm' got him a kick in the balls and the earjack girl marching straight to Toshi who was actually taking a break and was happy to sing for her.

Speaking of Toshi Momo got a huge hug from the skeletal man for the figurines, especially as it had Nana giving her signature smile and was of Gran when he was less an grumpy old fart, and more a speedy Aizawa. He was less impressed by Izuku's initial gift: a 30 dollar One For All gift card, which the 9th wielder was able to hold in the giggles before giving his real gift, which had Toshi cough blood when he saw it was a permission slip, stating he didn't need or want to see it, but was glad him and his Mom had found happiness and approved. He finally gave a proper All Might laugh and ruffled Izuku's green fluff people referred to as his hair.

Mei's gifts were a surprise hit with the students, especially when she revealed Tsu's completely overhauled hero suit that she'd altered to be thermoregulative, the frog girl so happy she hugged the gremlin before running off to try it on. Jirou was also glad to receive earplugs designed to block sounds above a certain volume, meaning that now simply being near Bakugo or Present Mic when using their quirks wouldn't run the risk of severe damage to her ears.

Not even Aizawa was spared, being given a new set of goggles, made with one way mirrors instead of slotted metal so nobody knew who he was using his quirk on or even looking at, and the sides were equipped with a eyemist sprayer built into the frames, much easier than the drops he'd been using previously. It took convincing from Emi but he eventually wore them and found that yes he could still use his quirk through the material.

This was clearly the go ahead for the others to give their teacher his presents, though the one that caught Eri's attention was a coffee mug from Izuku (One even Mic and Midnight were surprised he was still using in April, though only around the now class 2A) written on it in a clear font was: Teaching hero: Dadzawa. Despite trying to hide his face in his scarf, everyone could tell he was smiling, which was probably why he sighed tiredly before pulling out one of Izuku's notebooks from his back (one said verdette had been previously panicking about because he thought he'd lost it) the title being Hero analysis: UA, then confusion as Emi pulled out a similar one with Hero analysis: Ketsubutsu. Passing them over to them Izuku peeked in and screamed seeing each of his entries had the hero's autographs above them. Switching over to the other notebook he saw this book also filled with autographs, though they were each spaced out similarly to his other notebooks, most likely so he had space to make notes on each of the hero teachers of Ketsubutsu.

Prediction of lewdness was proven true given the simultaneous screams Momo and Izuku gave when they opened Himiko's gift, quickly hiding the photos before anyone else could see them, blushes nearly glowing in the process, Mama Toga just laughing between her heroes, then smiled cutely when they kissed her cheeks.

Izuku actually needed a minute to stop laughing when he saw Shinso's gift, a shirt similar to his usual 'shirt' shirts, except this one read "I'm the problem child with the bullshit quirk. Your point is?" He proudly wore it the rest of the day, everyone noticing Aizawa grinning under his scarf, amused Midoriya had embraced the title of 'Problem Child'.

Finally once everyone was finished giving gifts Eri made her move, bringing her drawing over to Izuku and handing it to him, his eyes widened and shone "This is lovely Eri, want to explain it to me?" he asks, the girl nods and crawls into his lap.

"There I am cause horn buddy says I'm a unicorn" Eri explains, pointing to the cute thing in the centre "then you're the dragon dad, cause you saved me and kept me safe. The glowy thing with the wings, a Serefenangle…"

"Seraphim?" Momo asks as she peeks over Izuku's shoulder, getting a nod from Eri

"Yeah that, is Moma, cause she makes things with a glow, the cat on Papa's back is Mama Toga cause she's a cat, but she has bat wings because catbat" Eri giggles not seeing Momo blush or Himiko grin (liking the 'catbat' nickname over 'vampire bitch' which was Bakugo's current one for her), while Izuku is frozen in shock "The teddy bear is Nana because she gives great hugs, and Grandpa is in the Kyubi jail because he did bad things and needed a time out" she continues, 1A seeing a green teddy bear with a happy face as well as a grumpy potato in a cage (Izuku conflicted on whether to slap Sero for introducing the small child to Naruto before Pokemon or just laugh because Eri said a supervillain needed a time out).

"Any of us in the picture horn buddy?" Mina asked, her theories already proven so was now just curious

"Grumpy cat is Mr Aizawa, Kirby is Chako… opps, Dad we left Chako's picture in your room" Eri panics, only for Izuku to calm her down

"Relax Eri, it's a simple fix. Momo could you get the drawing from my desk, you'll see the one. I would but Eri has commandeered my lap" he teases, getting an eyeroll from Momo but she still left, returning quickly with the 'Izuku Midoriya Original' drawing: that being of Uraraka in her hero outfit, flanked by a Kirby and a Jigglypuff, dressed similarly. Uraraka squeals and lifts Eri from Izuku's lap to hug her, the little girl giggling as she was.

After the gravity girl had stopped spinning Eri was given back to a still chuckling Izuku, who asked, as he ran his fingers through her hair "Do you want your present from me now Eri?" getting a wide eyed smile and rapid head nod, as she hadn't expected to get anything besides being able to live here and not be repeatedly torn apart and put back together "Great, now be gentle it's delicate" he says taking a thin box and setting it on her lap.

Opening the box Eri didn't know what to think, it couldn't be what she thought they were right? "Jeez Midori you work fast! How the hell did you get adoption papers already?" Mina gasps

"My mom's a lawyer, UA had her medical records and my background check is fine, helps I'm training to be a hero, a well paid profession so they know I will be able to provide for her" Izuku answers with an almost smug smile

"So you're really my papa now?" Eri asks, her voice small

"If you want me to, then yes" Izuku replies, his hero voice making the little one's heart flutter

"Yes Papa I want to be adopted! Does that mean Moma and Mama Toga are my moms now too?" she asks, eyes sparkling

"Legally speaking, yes to Momo, Himiko is... complicated. But both would be happy to be your moms and have you call them that" Izuku explains

"I sure would cutie, but try stay out of trouble, not everyone looks as cute covered in blood as your dad does" Himiko chirps, ruffling her hair and giggling

"I would be honoured to be a maternal prescience in your life Eri darling, I'm already called Class Mom by a few of the others so might as well be a real one too" Momo says smiling sweetly at the gentle unicorn child.

"Then I can bring the paperwork to Mom tomorrow, then you'll definitely have to experience a full Midoriya hug when it's official" Izuku chuckles, setting aside the forms before hugging her tightly, Eri nuzzling his chest as Momo and Himiko flank him. Then her eyes widen

"Oh, Grandpa gave me a present when I saw him because he knew I wouldn't be seeing him today" Eri chirps, missing several of the student's look of fear as she closes her eyes and puffs her cheeks, looking to be staining herself before…

Her horn (currently not in it's 'Mei Hatsume patent pending horn protector') lit up, the entire thing giving off a soft yellowish glow, with a hum and a grunt it shifted to a relaxing green "See he said it was called Lure, but also that it was ok if I renamed it to Nightlight!" the little girl cheers, proudly showing off her new quirk. Himiko laughs, Momo's brain needed another few seconds (as did quite a few of 1A and Toshi) and Izuku sighed, rolled his eyes and booped the horn, chuckling when it turned Uravity pink as the soon to be Eri Midoriya pouted with puffed out cheeks.

"You are literally too cute for your own good, is that your third quirk kiddo?" he teases, holding her close and enjoying the paternal warmth it brought him, meanwhile Eri smiles and switches off her horn, this was just perfect as Christmas should be.

LW: For the record, I don't know how adoption works in Japan, but at least according to 'Class 1-A Hell chat' by UndeadSoldierShady and Zaijasku, all you need is to be older than 15, the person you're adopting be younger than you and permission from the person as far as I could tell. I decided not to check how it actually works in the real world and pretend this was just how it worked in the My Hero universe, which was kind of the point, give Eri a Family!

Izuku's gift from his dad was one 10 (though more likely 5) years late, unsealing his birth quirk: All For One.

Eri got into Tartarus with help from ninja mom Himiko.

Eri started every one of those conversations with 'What should I get Dad for christmas?' because of course she did

Mineta's 'present' was something a Support course student had been working on, trying to replicate their gender change quirk; they made a gas which does exactly that but only for 6 hours. Jirou was mad Izumi had bigger breasts than even Momo [Actually she was just mad even Izuku had bigger boobs than her, it's just the wording was "For fuck sake Greenie, those are even bigger than YaoMomo's!"], Toga kind of looked like the MHA equivalent of Dio from Jojo and Yaoyarosu, looking very much the noble samurai, created a katana from his stomach and threatened to remove Mineta's 'grapes and stalk' if he didn't explain himself. Bakugo and Mina found the situation hilarious and Eri was just confused.
