NOTE: This takes place after the events of Redemption. If you have not read it, I highly recommend you do before proceeding.

Life on the surface had been great for the monsters. The humans had mostly accepted them with open arms, and while some were resistant towards their inclusion into society, the government was doing their best to pass legislation allowing for monsters to be considered full citizens.

Toriel and Asgore had relinquished the throne, telling the monsters that they should listen to the humans' government. Because of this, Toriel had plenty of time to open a school for both monster and human children. It was a success, and she was even made the principal, though she still taught a class on the history of monsters. Asgore worked as a gardener, and was beloved by all of the students. Even Sans worked at the school, though "work" was a slight exaggeration.

Papyrus and Undyne both became police officers. Their magic abilities brought the crime rate in the city down by a large margin. Undyne was on her way to being made chief of the monster division, with Papyrus to be her co-chief.

Alphys had formed a group of scientists, consisting of humans and monsters, with the goal of merging monster technology with human technology. One of their first projects was to expand the CORE to power the entire city, a project that was well under way. The power would be the cheapest source of electricity the humans had ever had, so Alphys had jumped on the opportunity after seeing it.

Finally, there were the fallen humans. Some of them, such as the ones with bravery and perseverance souls, struck out on their own. The rest, however, Frisk included, were officially adopted by Toriel and Asgore. Chara also stayed with the monsters, since they had nowhere to return to. Overall, everything on the surface was a good as the monsters could have hoped for.

And tonight was about to be even better. For it was Christmas, and all of Frisk's friends had gathered for a big Christmas party. There were snacks, courtesy of Toriel and Papyrus, along with games created by Undyne and Alphys. And of course, there was a gift exchange. It was Frisk's turn to open their gifts. The first one they grabbed contained a blue jacket, exactly like Sans's.

"i had a cop tell me to pull over on my way home from the store. made sure to correct him and tell him it was a jacket," he snickered. Toriel could barely contain herself in the corner.

"SANS! DON'T RUIN THIS NIGHT FOR THE HUMAN WITH YOUR HORRIBLE JOKES!" protested Papyrus. Frisk merely laughed as they grabbed the next present. It was sparring gear.

"Yeah! I got that for you because you're a wimp! We need to build some muscles!" shouted Undyne.

"Uh, okay Undyne," said Frisk. They nervously set the gear to the side as they grabbed the next present. It was a new phone.

"I figured I would give you a prototype of the latest monster-human hybrid. It not only has all of the normal functions, but you can also play games on it! Pretty cool, huh?" said Alphys.

"Yeah, I'll be sure to give it a try later," replied Frisk. There were only two presents left. The first one had a note that explained it was from Asgore and Toriel and contained a green and yellow striped shirt, similar to the ones Asriel and Chara used to wear.

"Nice! Now you're really a part of the family," remarked Chara. Everyone laughed as Frisk picked up the final present. They tore off the wrapping paper and found a golden heart locket. They looked up and Asriel and Chara, and saw they had their lockets out, smiling. Frisk grinned as they put the locket around their neck. It was funny, since they were almost like grandparents to them, but both Asriel and Chara had been some of their best friends since returning to the surface. And now, it was official. Frisk didn't really care what happened next, as long as they got to be with their best friends forever.

Author's note: Well, this is a surprise. I figured I would do this one-shot as a little Christmas present for you guys. Plus, I want to take the chance to explain my future plans. First off, I'm cancelling Multiversal Slaughter. The plan I had just kind of died out and I've lost interest in it. If you want to continue it yourself, feel free to PM me so I can give you some of the ideas I had originally. At the very least, make sure you give at least some credit to me. That being said, I probably won't be doing any more fics for a while because I have other projects I am currently working on. If you do want to know when the day comes I post a new fic, feel free to follow me so you get a notification when I post. Anyway, I hope you liked this, and Merry Christmas!
