There´s not much to say about this story, its just a cute christmas scene with the Murdoch couple, as they spend alone their first christmas one year after the events of my other story 'Murdoch In Danger.

Hope you like.

Merry Christmas.

CHRISTMAS NIGHT DIALOGUE

It was Christmas Eve and William and Julia Murdoch decided to spend it with just the two of them in the quiet of their hotel room, with no fancy meals, no guests and not even a Christmas tree. It had been a year since William´s illness and they were celebrating his slow but significant recovery in the quiet Christmas.

Julia ordered them some supper and finished writing in her medical journal before helping William with his exercises and needs, as he could barely move his legs and left arm.

A few minutes before midnight, the couple lay in bed, in each other´s arms When William broke the silence. ''Ju-lia…'' he said, his voice slow and quivering. ''I was t-hinkin-g… I mu-st go…''

''You want to go away? Where? You want to get out the bed?'' she asked in confusion.

"No. I… I don´t want to see you tir-ed anymore or c-cryin-g,' William said with difficulty.

To tell the truth, for the past year Julia had always been tired. Being the only provider, she had to split herself in three, to go to work in the hospital, take care of her husband, and take care of their house as well. Since they lived in a hotel, sometimes one or two members of staff helped Julia with William, but most of the time it was only her to take care of him, which made her exhausted, in a good way, in her view.

''So…'' Julia decided to play along. ''What do you suggest? Should I throw you in the next alley in plain winter? You would freeze my darling.'' She said matter of factually and in response, he gave her a smile, a one sided smile, but a smile anyway.

''Ju-lia…I am not the man… you once loved. I cannot pro-vide for you…"

''Ah, I've got it.'' Julia understood. ''So, since you can't provide for me… for us... and you don't want to be a burden to me, you think I should let you go, put you in a nursery home, letting me live my life, find a third husband, be rich…''

''Yes!'' William agreed sadly and in response, Julia shook her head in disapproval.

''William, you are such an old fool,'' Julia said. Placing both hands on his cheeks, she made him look at her. ''You love me?''

''Yes.''

''Very much?''

''Yes.'' He replied.

''Because I love you, more than words can describe. You are the love of my life, William. I told you, no one and nothing is going to stay between us, you are the only man I love. I chose you and I will not throw you away because life became complicated. So, you better give up the idea of leaving me. "

For a moment William didn't talk. He knew that when Julia put something in her mind, she never gave up. She was stubborn and that's why he loved her. But he wanted her to be free of taking care of him, she deserved a life, but just the thought of being away from the woman he loved so deeply would break his already weak heart.

'' I love you, dear.'' He told her with a smile.

''I love you too William, very much. Merry Christmas.'' Julia whispered as they fell asleep warm and in love that Christmas Eve.
