A/N: To anyone asking why I'm posting this while on hiatus, I had finished this oneshot before then.
Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SILVER!
And Merry Christmas Eve to those of you who celebrate Christmas, and Happy Holidays to those who don't.
And just to clarify, Green is the Girl, Blue is the Boy.
"SILVER!"
A redheaded boy with silver eyes groaned as he faceplanted onto his pillow, using his other pillow to cover his ears.
"SILVER, OPEN UP!"
Silver groaned in annoyance and tried to close his eyes and fall back asleep.
"SILVER, THE POKEDEX HOLDER OF JOHTO KNOWN AS THE EXCHANGER, OPEN YOUR DOOR OR SUDOBO AND I WILL KICK IT IN!"
Silver groaned and rolled out of bed, landing on the floor and cursing the person who'd woken him up at this Arceus-forsaken hour. He stood up and flinched at the powdery flakes falling outside. It was inconvenient that his birthday was usually surrounded by the Arceus-forsaken snow; Pryce was still causing problems years after he escaped with Green.
"SILVER!"
"I swear to Arceus, Gold, if you don't shut up this minute I will drag you into the Illex Forest and leave you to get stuck in time," Silver muttered as he heard his name called from outside once again.
He wrapped himself in a blanket and walked down to his door and opened it to see two trainers, one girl, and one boy, grinning at him.
"Happy Birthday, Silver," the girl said, wrapping her longtime friend into a hug.
Silver flinched when he felt the frigid snow on the back of his neck and awkwardly pushed the girl off of him.
The boy next to her snickered, "Is the cold-as-ice dex holder scared of a little powder?"
The girl elbowed him, hard. "Gold, shut up."
Gold rubbed his side, "Arceus, Crys, don't ya think you could be a little more gentle with your-" Crys clapped her hand over Gold's mouth.
Silver took this squabble to wake up and realize why they were here. Crys had her dark blue hair in the pigtails that stuck up and was wearing light pink earmuffs, mittens, and a winter coat, along with a pale yellow scarf, baby blue leggings, and brown furry boots.
Gold had his hair in his normal style, still wearing his hat along with a red winter coat that was unzipped to show a yellow shirt, black winter pants, and black snow boots. Pibu the Pichu was on his head.
"Why the heck are you here, it's SIX IN THE MORNING, STUPID," Silver shouted.
"I tried to tell him that," Crys sighed, "but he refused to listen."
"Well, I had to come to say hi to my best friend for his birthday and wish him a Merry Christmas," Gold said.
Silver internally groaned. "You're here, you said hi, now leave me alone."
"Silver, c'mon. It's Christmas Eve and your birthday. Lighten up a bit."
"Just come hang out with us until lunch, you're free after that," Crys said, playing peacekeeper between the boys.
"Fine," Silver grumbled, retreating into his house. He grabbed his black coat, black winter pants, and red and black snow boots and walked outside to the two other dex holders.
"So, is Green coming to celebrate or...?"
"Nah, she's probably staying inside, out of the snow." Silver narrowed his eyes at kids happily playing in the snowbanks.
"So what is your issue with snow?" Gold asked.
Crys elbowed him.
"What, it's a question. I'm legit curious."
Silver crossed his arms, "It's self-explanatory."
"Pryce," Crys mumbled to Gold.
"Yeah, Green hates it too, for the same reason. But unlike her, my birthday always has something to do with it"
"So that's why you're such a Scrooge," Gold said, who was promptly elbowed by Crys once again.
"It's kinda hard to enjoy the holidays when your only family is the head of an evil organization and you grew up raised by a psychopathic ice-type Gym Leader who was determined to save his Laprases from dying at all costs."
Gold's eyes widened in shock, "Silver, you mean to tell me that you've never had a real Christmas?"
"Nope, and I don't need to have one, so stop thinking about it."
"But."
"Drop it, Gold. If Silver doesn't want to deal with your antics, then don't make him," Crys scolded.
"Crys, he's never had a real Christmas."
"So? Some kids aren't fortunate enough to have Christmas at all, and Silver is adamant on not having one, so leave him alone."
"Fine," Gold sighed defeatedly.
"Now that that's settled, I need your guys' help for some last-minute Christmas shopping," she said, clapping her hands.
"Crys, we've been Christmas shopping for like three days straight, when will it end?" Gold groaned.
"I just have to get three more gifts total, one for each of the Hoenn Dex Holders."
"Oh great, now I gotta act like I care," Silver grumbled.
"Oh please, Scroogey, I've been enduring this for, not even joking, three days. I'm this close to getting Crys a therapist for Christmas because she needs it."
"You can say that again," Silver muttered.
"Oh please, Scroogey-"
"I didn't mean literally, stupid."
Crys dragged the boys through town, stopping occasionally to peer at a window display and occasionally dragging both boys into a store.
At the end of Crys's shopping spree, which felt like an eternity to both Silver and Gold, especially since Gold was carrying the shopping bags, she turned to the boys and thanked them.
"Can I go home now?" Silver grumbled.
"Not yet, Silver. We have you until lunch remember, and it's only 10:15, we've still gotta eat."
"So what did you get the Hoenn Dex Holders? Cause this seems like a lot."
"New Contest Gear for Ruby, Sapphire was pretty hard but I managed to find some durable boots that would be good for trekking through the Hoenn Wilderness-"
"And you and I know a thing about trekking through the Hoenn Wilderness, don't we Crys? Of course, Birthday Boy has no idea since he was stuck in a rock," Gold snickered.
"Now, as I was saying, before Gold so kindly interrupted me, I also got Emerald a watch since he'd been wanting one, for some reason."
Silver sighed, "Can we go get some food so I can leave?"
"Hate to break it to you Silver, but I have a reservation for the three of us at 11:30, so we can't get food just yet," Crys said.
"So what sappy Christmas stuff am I gonna have to deal with," Silver muttered under his breath.
"So, Crys, what's the plan?"
"Actually, there's this outdoor ice rink that I want to try out; I used to skate all the time when I was a little girl and I want to see if I still have my skills."
Silver rolled his eyes, "There is no way that you're getting me on ice, for fun. So I'll watch your skating date from the sidelines until you release me."
Crys and Gold turned bright red at the mention of a date. "It's-it is- it's definitely not like that," Crys stammered.
Silver rolled his eyes once again and trailed behind them.
Crys managed to get ahold of two pairs of skates, one for her and one for Gold, respecting SIlver's decision to stay away from the rink.
The red-haired trainer sat down on a bench after clearing the snow, crossing his arms and scowling. Most of the people on the rink were happy couples, and Gold and Crys were no exception to this trend.
Both of them were happily goofing off, falling on the ice occasionally.
"Silver!"
Silver looked up in confusion, seeing a girl with brown hair spilling out from a white knitted hat, a black winter coat, dark blue jeans, and white skates.
"Green?!"
"Duh. Happy Birthday, Silver!" Green said.
"What are you doing?"
"Here in Johto, or on the ice rink?"
"Both."
"I'm here to wish you a Happy Birthday in person; As for skating on ice, it's pretty fun once you give it a try. Red was the one who convinced me, actually. He didn't want to third-wheel one of Blue and Yellow's dates so he invited me to make it a double date. And based on what I've been seeing with Gold and Crys, you're getting used to the feeling of third-wheeling."
"I'm not getting on that ice."
Green laughed, "Never said you had to, I know you hate it."
"Good, I'm sick of people telling me to lighten up because 'it's the holidays and the holidays are for being insufferably nice to anyone and everyone'," Silver said with a scowl.
"How long are you stuck with those two?" Green said, pointing to Crys and Gold.
"Until after lunch, then I'm free."
"I wish you luck, now I need to catch the magnet train back to Kanto. See you later, Silver."
A/N: So I got to write a bit of MangaQuest in this, and I am aware that this entire thing was just Silver third-wheeling a MangaQuest date.
Anyways, see y'all in 2021!
