Maple Story Christmas Special!

I often wonder whether anyone ever wrote Christmas based on the game. Oh well, worth a shot

And Merry Christmas to all those who play Maple Story!

For as long as one can remember, the Black Mage was a huge threat to the Maple World. It's impossible to save the world from the growing darkness that will plunge it into eternal darkness. Fear is something that many felt when they made an attempt to defeat him even though chances are low. Still, a risk they took and mass battles occurred.

But hope has been on their side all the way for the Black Mage is finally defeated and no more. Most of the commanders that served him either were killed or their fates are unknown.

With that, Maple World is finally at peace after years of fighting the Black Mage. Sure there's some rebuilding and restoration to do but still, the most important thing is that all evil is vanquished.

A few years later...

It begins at Ereve. Yes, this is where Empress Cygnus resides along with her adviser and tactician, Neinheart, the Chief Knights and others who serve her. And right now, someone is making an entrance to the place and he's riding on an dragon who's flying him to the place.

"We have arrived master!"

"Indeed Mir. Let's get going."

Here they are. Dragon Master Evan who's now a young adult and his partner Mir, the Onyx Dragon. They have just touched ground outside the entrance to the gardens of Ereve. Other explorers have already arrived via sky ferries and are entering the gardens as, "Master, did you bring the invitation?"

"Relax Mir, I won't forget it." Evan showed it to him as they went to the entrance. There, 2 guards are on guard as, "Invitation?" He asked Evan as he showed him his. "Okay, you may enter." He spoke as he and the other guard stepped aside. With that, Evan and Mir entered the gardens and, "Whoa..."

It was a majestic sight to behold. Christmas decorations are hung on the trees, a large Christmas tree is in the centre of the garden and various explorers, Cygnus knights and resistance fighters are seen partying together and they're all dressed formally from tuxes and suits to ravishing dresses. That would really be enough for some of the males to get attached to some of the females as advancements are being made. As Evan and Mir admired the place, "Evan! Over here!" He looked around and saw his fellow heroes standing in front of the christmas tree waving to him. "Guys!" He called out as he and Mir went to meet them.

Aran is seen wearing a simple black dress with gold bangles on her wrist and earrings and she's the only one who brought her polearm weapon since the spirit Maha resides in it. Phantom wore his white tux as he winked at 2 female explorers that giggled at his charms, Luminous wore a light grey suit and Shade aka Eunwol(I prefer Shade) wore a black one. For Evan, he wore a black tux with a red tie and he still wore his purple and gold dragon hair band on his light brown hair that grew out slightly and Mir is just Mir but yeah, he grew big and likewise, his wings. "It's been a while since we gathered." Evan began. "I know. Things sure had changed ever since the Black Mage is ultimately defeated." said Shade.

Indeed. By defeating the Black Mage, Shade's existence is known again and that's why he's here at the party. And the curse is also gone. (Who knows?)

Now continuing, "Hold on...where's Mercedes?" Evan asked. "Something tells me she's running late." Luminous assumed as a royal servant offered him a glass of wine. As he took it, "Is it just me or is everyone murmuring excitedly?" Aran noticed and then, they saw it. "Yeah. She's here." Maha told Aran through the polearm.

From the entrance, the queen of elves, Mercedes along with her elven brethren consisting of the 3 elders Danika, Astilda and Philius had just arrived. All of them are dressed formally and for Mercedes, she was a ravishing sight to all the males for she wore a snow white party dress with a gold belt around her waist, elven earrings, necklace and bracelets with turquoise gems embedded on the jewellery and finally, a snowflake hairclip on her left side of her blonde hair that reaches down to her legs.

"Whoa..." Evan could not believe his eyes as his face turned red. "Last time I saw her, she was a gorgeous beauty! And even now, she's even more beautiful than ever...wait a second, why am I thinking so much about her?!" Mir must have noticed something on his master but he does not understand it somehow.

Then, "Hi guys!" Mercedes went to meet with the other heroes as the 6 of them all gathered together. "Now that's what I called a heroic reunion!" said Phantom as all cheered in agreement and he offered a rose to Mercedes. "Nope. You can give it to the other female explorers that you can flirt with." Mercedes replied as she greeted the other heroes and up next is, "Oh my...Evan! It's been a while and you've changed!" She exclaimed making him blush some more. Yup, the lad has grown so much ever since he found the dragon egg, formed a pact with Mir and grew stronger in his magic and physical appearance. Indeed he grew a bit taller than before and developed muscles from the farm work and adventuring. A well defined body he has developed over the years.

"Uh...Evan? Are you there?" Mercedes asked as he looked surprised. "Uh yeah? Anything?"

"Sheesh. You've been stoning for a minute." Luminous stated as he looked around. "I'm gonna check on Lania since I brought her along to the party."

"Alright nerd. Don't wander off too far." said Phantom. "And don't embarrass yourself." Luminous spoke back as he left. "I'm gonna grab a bite." said Shade. "Me too. Let's go." Aran and Shade went to the buffet table on the assembly platform. Mir also joined them because he's hungry and dragons eat a lot. (Fun fact. Lol)

"As for me, I'm just gonna socialize." said Phantom as he left. "He's probably gonna flirt with more female explorers." Mercedes sighed. "As always..." Evan agreed.

Now it's just the 2 of them as Evan is still in awe over the gorgeous Mercedes. "So...how's Elluel?"

"It's a miracle." She began. "All the elven children encased in the ice are finally free now that the Black Mage is defeated. With that, Elluel is able to recover steadily."

"That's great!" Evan exclaimed and then, "If you need any help, I'll be happy to assist. I did made a promise to help you out before we fulfilled our mission in the ruins at the Nihal Desert. Remember?"

Mercedes did remember the time Evan visited her and requested her aid to help him in the mission(Heroes of Maple). He even understood her situation and had the will to help her if ever once they saved the world. And despite doubting his abilities due to him being the descendant of the legendary Freud, Mercedes soon trusted him and acknowledged him. Not to mention admired him for his awakened potential and kindness.

"Yeah...I do remember...and yes, I'll seek you if ever I need some assistance." She replied with a smile as she gazed at Evan with thoughts. "You've changed so much Evan. I'm so happy for you...Freud would be so proud of you too and...hold on, why am I feeling something in Evan? I mean..." She doesn't know what to think of as her face became red and, "You okay Merc?"

"Uh...I'm fine." She replied looking away a bit before facing him again when, "Evan! Mercedes!" They looked to see Aran, Shade and Mir returning back to them as, "We got you some bites." Shade offered them a plate of sandwiches. "Thanks Shade." Evan and Mercedes took a piece and started eating as, "So...you 2 were having a great time chatting together..." Aran teased. Mercedes' face turned red in the middle of eating as, "Master, I could have sworn your face is as red as a tomato." Mir exclaimed as Evan choked a bit and then, "I'm gonna grab some fruit punch and oh! I see Athena! I'll go chat with her." Mercedes stated as she left. "I'm gonna get some fresh air. Come on Mir."

"Sure master." They also left as, "What just happened?" Shade asked. "My goodness. I smell romance filling the atmosphere." They turned to see Phantom with his arms around 2 female explorers as, "Ladies, I need to do something. Have fun and I'll catch up."

"Sure thing Master Thief Phantom."

"Don't forget."

They left giggling as, "You're implying that Evan and Mercedes have a thing for each other but they don't suspect it?" Aran asked. "Now that he mentioned it, they were kinda flustered during their conversations." Shade recalled. "See? Love is in the air and in this Christmas party, there's this thing that hangs above to lovers and I believe I can get my hands on one of those things and do something like that!" said Phantom. "And not to mention, Mercedes is one of the most beautiful women in all of Maple World and seeing Evan so smitten over her would further imply the growing romance between them."

"You're not serious are you?" They turned to see Luminous eating a piece of brownie as, "How's Lania?" Aran asked. "She's hanging with Lilin." He replied. "So what did I miss?"

So while the heroes talked about Evan and Mercedes, the others had fun at the party. Grendel the Really Old is having a discussion with Oz, the Chief Knight of Fire. Irena the Chief Knight of Wind and Athena Pierce are having a chat until Mercedes joined them while Eckhart, the Chief Knight of Darkness is having a drink with the Night Lord, Jin and Lady Syl. At another area, Hawkeye the Chief Knight of Lightning and Mihile the Chief Knight of Light are arm wrestling on a table with each other with many Cygnus knights and explorers cheering and betting their mesos on who will win while Kyrin is partying with her crew and the pirate explorers with plenty of drinking. Claudia the resistance leader is sampling some food and on a tree, the Demon is just sitting there drinking fruit punch and watching everyone enjoy themselves.

Some time later...

"Everyone, may I have your attention please?" All looked to see Neinheart and he's wearing a blue tux. "The empress herself will soon make her appearance. Standby outside the royal palace." All got the message as they made their way there but not before, "Aha!" Phantom has finally found it. It was part of the Christmas decorations as, "This, is gonna make things more interesting...Heh. Heh." He thought with a smirk as he joined the crowd.

Everyone is all gathered outside the royal palace and then, the doors opened, "Ladies and gentlemen, Empress Cygnus!" Neinheart announced as all applauded and then, the empress made her appearance making her way down to meet the crowd. She wore her royal robes of red and white and her signature gold crown. A few steps before the ground, she stopped to make a speech.

"I never thought the night would come when we get to celebrate our first Christmas together as an alliance and throw a party like this after the defeat of the Black Mage and his commanders. Things had changed as our world is being restored peacefully. I also thank you all for coming to this party and I wish you all a Merry Christmas! Let us celebrate and make the most of our night!"

All cheered and applauded for the empress as she touched ground and started mingling with some of the explorers and Cygnus Knights. "I gotta admit. Fist time all of us are celebrating Christmas together here in Ereve." Mihile told Hawkeye. "So true! We usually celebrate with our families but we never got the chance to do so together right here." Hawkeye agreed as Mir flew and met up with Shinsoo. "Mir...you've gone big I see..." Shinsoo spoke. "My wings are big too! How are you?" Mir spoke as the 2 creatures had a conversation.

As the party goes on, Evan and Mercedes are seen standing beside a tree catching up. "So you went back to the farm to help out again I see." Mercedes spoke. "Yeah. I wouldn't forget my family and Mir was a big help to the family business in being on guard duty for the livestock." Evan replied. Then suddenly, it happened.

"Ooh. Look guys!" Aran called out as all looked at Evan and Mercedes who must have noticed that everyone even Mir and the empress is staring at them. "What?" They asked in unison. "You might want to look up." Shade suggested and he's trying to contain his growing luaghter. So they looked up and gasped.

Yes, a mistletoe is dangling above them as, "Heh! Heh! The master thief can also be the master matchmaker! Ha! Ha!" Phantom thought with a smirk for he's sitting on a thick, tree branch holding a stick with a string tied to it and the mistletoe is tied to the string. "I can't believe he's doing this!" Luminous thought in annoyance. But he looked at Evan and Mercedes and thought, "But this I gotta see..."

Now back to them. "Wh-What are we suppose to do?" A shy Mercedes ask as the crowd continued staring at her and Evan. "W-Well...you wanna know something about the mistletoe? If there is one hanging above a man and woman like us right now...

...

"You might not like it but we have to kiss."

Mercedes' eyes went wide. She then looked up and gave Phantom the gesture in which she's gonna get back at him but he just smirked some more as he shook the stick a bit.

As all eyes are on them, "It's unavoidable right?" She asked. "Yeah...not to mention I've never kissed a girl before." Evan replied shyly as he scratched his hair behind a bit. "Same. I never kissed a man before." Mercedes replied shyly with her arms behind her as the crowd is still staring at them. "Hey Luminous. 100 mesos that they kiss." Shade told the magician. "I'm not a fan of betting but whatever." Luminous replied as he ate a cookie.

And back to them, "So...how will we do it?" Mercedes asked. "Well...to escape embarrassment, let's make this quick and then done. And we'll do it together on a count to 3 in our minds." Evan suggested. Mercedes nodded in agreement as they took a deep breath, closed their eyes and held onto each other's shoulders.

"1..."

"2..."

(Everyone is anxious to see what happens next...)

...

"3!"

(The Ereve BGM is being played now, Queen's Garden)

In their minds, they did the countdown at the right timing and it happened, their lips were pressed deeply onto each other but instead of breaking off immediately, they instead melted into it easily.

"This feeling...is so strong! And it feels lovely when I kiss the beautiful and ravishing Queen of Elves..." Evan thought.

"Wow...so this is what it feels like! Never thought I may do it onto Evan whom I deeply admire and respect..." Mercedes thought.

Then, they held hands while kissing as already, the crowd went wild cheering, clapping and whistling excitedly at the scene. "Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Perfect! Yeah!" Phantom thought cheerfully. "You owe me a 100 mesos." Shade told Luminous as he just handed him a small bag. "At least I didn't bet with Phantom. That idiot bets too much." He thought as Maha shrugged his shoulders over Aran who's squealing excitedly and likewise, Lania, Lilin, Oz, Irena, Kyrin, Valerie, Claudia, Athena and Danika. As for Mir, he was greatly stunned.

And also, "I didn't expect this to happen." said Neinheart as Empress Cygnus smiled brightly at the scene. "A bright future I can see in them." She thought as back there, Evan and Mercedes are done.

"Whoa..." They thought in unison while blushing when, "Now that was lovely isn't it?" Phantom called out as he stood up when he lost his balance. "AH!"

"KSH!"

He fell off the tree with the stick on the ground as, "Perfect timing..." Mercedes took the stick as, "Wait! It's not what you think oh-never mind." Phantom ran off as, "WHACK!" The stick was hurled and it hit him on the head from behind. "Ow..." He groaned as Luminous and Shade chuckled a bit secretly. After that, Evan and Mercedes smiled at each other again as they looked at the cheering crowd cheering for them. Damn, this is something they won't forget.

Some time later...

The party is over as the invited guests can be seen leaving the garden. Phantom went to his airship, Lumiere as he said his goodbyes especially to the many female explorers he flirted with and winked at them. "About time. I hope your ship is fast enough to drop us to our homes." Luminous stated for he, Lania, Aran, Lilin and Shade are offered a lift back. "You worry too much nerd. My ride will definitely make quick stops. Let's go." Phantom assured as his ship took off. (And yes, Lania still lives with Luminous and Lilin still lives with Aran. For Shade...all will be revealed in time...)

Now it cuts to Evan as he got onto Mir. "Master, what you did there was lovely. So, is she your girlfriend now?"

"What? Mir, please don't bring this up." Evan suggested. "Oh come on Master! Admit it, you love her in your heart! Maybe I should tell your family about this or-"

"Let's just go home already!" While they argue a bit, "My queen, how does it feel ?" Athena asked. "Yeah! You and that Dragon Master are so cuuute when you're together!" Danika exclaimed and, "When will you 2 date? I hope he can be your boyfriend! Oh, can I watch you or how about I arrange for you and-"

"Please, it's not what you think..." But Mercedes could not deny it as, "Well my queen, what do you think of the young man?" Astilda asked. "Yeah, never thought you set your eyes on him." said Philius.

All Mercedes could do is feel shy about it when, "Mercedes! See you again!" Evan called out as, "Yes Evan! See you again!" She called back to him as they smiled at each other with the colour red on their faces. After that, Mir flew off with Evan riding on him as, "Ha! Admit it! You love him!" Danika cheered as, "Alright, enough already, our queen's already tired." Astilda stated for Mercedes stifled a yawn as, "Quick trip back home it is!" Philius declared as he took out a teleport scroll and it did it's magic while Athena took out hers and she teleported herself back to her archery school.

Back at the garden, "Things had changed. First party ever hosted was a blast! Isn't it empress?" Neinheart asked. "Indeed. May this world flourish with peace and prosperity." Cygnus stated as she went back to the royal palace herself. Neinheart smiled as he left to turn in for the night.

And at the same time outside the Temple of Time...

"At long last..." A silhouetted figure had just stepped outside the temple. He wore a dark purple cloak with a hood over his head and it covers his eyes, a navy blue shirt with a green belt, navy blue pants, gauntlets, white socks and black shoes. Black armour platings can be seen on his shoulders, lower arms and lower legs. Behind his belt are 2 wakizashis and on his left and right sides are pouches as he can be seen holding a dice and keeping it in his left pouch.

"I, Xander am ready for adventure! I've waited long for the night to come! Here I go!" He then jumped down his way down leaping high and once he touched ground, he did a shoulder roll and got up. "Things are gonna change..." He thought with a smile as he walked off. The adventure begins!

The first Maple Story fanfic I read was Snidne's Wedding Night. It was beautiful especially the ship that made me wow over it.

Well that wrap things up. I still have a lot to do to get a full understanding on the game and the world itself. Still, I do what I can do to write a good story based on the game. If I miss out anything related to the game, I'll be sure to remember it. Now I need to work on the other one where I released the prologue about it.
