Percy's POV
I sat in silence as I thought about Annabeth. I wish that I could turn back time. Tell her I loved her more than anything. I did tell her she mattered to me. She really did, but work ruined everything. Now she's off with her fancy european man. And I'm heartbroken. Sitting in this stupid hammock in Maldives. Thousands of miles away from Annabeth. I used to care for her, but she ruined everything. never once in my life had I been so disappointed. I never thought Annabeth would be the one to betray me.
*Flashback*
I was so excited, today was the day! I was finally going to propose to Annabeth. I had been giddy the entire day. It was a complete surprise for her! I had planned so carefully to make sure she didn't realize I was coming home 2 days early, I was practically peeing my pants I was so nervous. Hopefully she said yes. I even got up the courage to ask her mom. Even Athena had begrudgingly approved. Everything was perfect! When I got to the apartment door I stood there for a few seconds to regain my composure, making sure I looked normal and not overly excited. I quietly opened the door and stepped inside. Making sure not to make a sound. I hear muffled noises coming from the bedroom. She must be in there. I thought to myself and opened the door. What I did not expect to see was Annabeth lying there with a naked european man. I just stood there for a few seconds, paralized by shock. How could she do this? To me?
"Wait, Percy I can explain!" she yelled after me. I barely heard her as tears streamed down my face, I stormed out of the apartment. But not before chucking the ring box at a nearby window.
I cut off all contact with her after that. Everyone in fact. I had hundreds of missed calls from my family and friends. I was in too much pain to answer any of them. So I made a hasty decision and moved to Maldives, to live out the rest of my life away from those who had hurt me.
*end of flashback*
I had moved to Maldives years ago, 10 years in fact. Never once had I been bothered by the gods, and never once had that bothered me. I loved my life here. I was a and lived in a house beside the sea. I had gotten a degree in oceanology and was living a peaceful life away from the crazy, fast lane life of a demigod. Sure I missed New York occasionally, but drabbling in the past never ended well. Just wish pain and sadness to coat you like a blanket. A blanket made of knives and spikes, each deadly sharp. Today I was minding my own business, sitting in a hammock above the sea and dipping my feet into the shallow water. When I heard a voice that ruined everything.
"Percy?" I heard someone say, it was a familiar voice, one I hadn't heard in a long time. I lifted my head from my hammock to see the Seven, Thalia, and Calypso standing there, gapping at me. The speaker, Annabeth, looked on the verge of crying, not caring, I layed back down in my hammock.
"What are you doing here?" I asked gruffly, I had survived 10 years without the gods, I was confident I could last another.
"We came looking for you obviously." She croaked out
"Why? You seemed to be all fine without me. Especially you Annabeth, are you still dating that man?" I asked, my voice was eerie calm
"Annabeth, what man?" Piper asked. Oh this was getting good, I should get some popcorn. I thought and smirked, finally getting out of my hammock
"Oh, did Annabeth not tell you? The reason I left was because I came back to the apartment to find Annabeth sleeping with some guy." I smirked and watched as their faces morphed to confusion, then anger.
Thalia walked over to Annabeth, and punched her in the face. "SERIOUSLY ANNABETH?" Annabeth cowered "YOU CHEATED ON MR TRAVEL HALFWAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO SAVE YOU, TOOK YOU ON A QUEST WHEN HER BARELY KNEW YOU, AND OH YEAH! JUMP INTO FREAKING TARTARUS TO SAVE YOU!" She yelled at Annabeth, who just stood there in shock. She turned to the others and the only thing to be found in their eyes was disappointment.
"If you're going to drag us halfway across the world to find your 'boyfriend' at least don't lie about it." Leo deadpanned with a cold expression, he turned to me "Hey Percy, is there a good place to get a drink around here? I've had a frustrating day." He said
"No, but I have some rather excellent beer inside if you, Calypso, Jason, Piper, Frank, Hazel, and Thalia want to join me." I answered, careful to leave out Annabeth
"Sounds good" Leo answered and everyone but Annabeth started to head toward my house.
"So Percy, how have you been?" Jason asked, trying to break the tension
"Good, until I heard about Annabeth, you?"
"Same, I promise Percy, none of us knew. She told us you had just disappeared in the middle of the night." he replied
"Ahhhh, yes. That's kind of odd, never expected Annabeth to be a cheater or a liar, but here we are." I said, cracking a small smile.
"Same" everyone coursed
"Anyway, enough about Annabeth, how are your lives going?" I asked. I was tired of Annabeth, why dwell on the past when there are things to do? Things to say. Other people to love.
Soooo, yeah, made a special christmas one-shot. Hope you enjoyed it. Sorry it was kinda weird, but normal holiday stories are BORING! Sorry! I just feel like it's the same repeated plot. Anyway, Farewell.
