Hey Guys, MegaSalamence64 here, Welcome back to the Deluxe-Verse Christmas Annual 2020,
While Ness may have been able to slowly opened Mewtwo's heart in the previous story, This tale will be Red interacting with Lucas with some insights into the former's character as well (But rest assured this story is not a rehashed of On My Lonesome)

Story 3: Ohana
Main characters: Red, Lucas, Charizard, Ivysaur and Squrtitle
Rating: K+
Symposis: The Loss of Family can be hard on someone, A Feeling Lucas has when he lost his mother and brother, During the Christmas Party, Red thought taking up out to see the night sky may cheer him up, But they soon discover they are more alike then they previously think.

Smash Mansion, Back Gardens
"You know Lucas, If there's one thing I consider consistent with my travels, it's that looking up to a beautiful night sky with your Pokémon is that…." Red said back to Lucas whom was with the Brown haired Pokémon trainer and his three main Pokémon,
The draconic leader of the trio (and also Very hotheaded in battle) Charizard, The motherly and somewhat snarky Ivysaur and the tag-along child Squritle as they looked up to the open skies with some interest as well (More so with the latter two, Charizard's almost tempted to go back to his ball due to personal boredom and his drive for battle slowly increasing as well)
The five are currently taking a break form the excitement form the current Christmas Party as they are looking up at a beautiful star filled sky, Something Lucas looked up with surprise as he did so.
He don't not what to say since he never really to the chance to look up at the night sky after the events with Porky in Tazmily… and his Mother and Brother's Deaths.
"Never Really get a chance to do so Lucas?" Red answered back to the young blond haired boy with a smile on his face. "Well it really does help you feel more relax…."
"Well easy for you to say Red," Ivysaur said back to her trainer as she struggled to keep Squritle under control with her vines, "Cause Squritle here really wants to see if he can fly up to the moon via his Aqua Jet!"
"Ivysaur relax!" Squritle said back to his fellow teammate as he struggled to get lose form her vines. "It's just a small Aqua Jet up to the moon…. Nothing to big."
"Well your definition of big is a little too out there young Squritle!" Ivysaur said back to him as she tried to ensure that her youngest teammate doesn't go reckless flying into the sky. "You know even Charizard here knows about this."
"Well for once Squrtile, Ivysaur got a point…" Charizard said back to the trio with a shrug, "Trust me, As much as I'm itching for a good fight right now, You can't really do it,"
"You really can't fly to the moon unless you have wings like me."
"Oh come on! You too Charizard?" Squritle whined back to the leader of their team with an upset look. "Even you can't have faith in me?"
"I Say it's less of faith and being more of a realist…." Ivysaur muttered to herself with her eyes rolling as she struggled to keep Squritle from escaping her.
"Oh come on Ivysaur, Let me out, I can do it!" Said the failing water type as he struggled to no end, Charizard simply smirking back to him,
"Hey Squirtle, You might not want to do that if I were you…." He answered back while chuckling to himself about the time he once tried to do it, the first night he and Red spent together on their journey as a charmander.
He tried to fly up from a nearby tree but failed miserably, an attempt that he never attempted again until he became the mighty Charizard he is right now and can actually fly as well.
"I might have wings now, but even I won't test my luck against THAT…." He continued to the turtle Pokémon, "Chari's would kill me if I tried something This reckless…."
"Well, there are times where you are still the Reckless Charmelon that still tried to fight Giovanni's Ryhdon back during the Sliph Co takeover…" Ivysuar said back to him with a smirk. "We barely surivied THAT too….. and you should be lucky Red hasn't brought this up to Leaf and Chari either…."
While Charizard was tempted to shouted back at her, he knew doing so would prove Ivysaur's words true that he may be a Charizard now, But there were times that he's still the reckless Charmelon she still often snarks about due to his reckless behavior.
"…Fine you win this round…." He answered back to her with a scrowl, "Red's right the View is good though…."
"….Heh, He can listen to others that aren't Red and Chari….." Ivysaur said back to herself as she noticed Charizard actually listening and using his head for once outside of battle. "Guess I was wrong…"
Her peaceful moment was soon shattered however as Squritle tried to escape her vines.
"Oh no you don't!" Ivysaur said back to Squirtle whom was trying to seize this opportunity to slip past her to try to get to the moon. "You're not going anywhere Squritle!"
As the Kanto starter trio continued their bickering about flying up to the moon, Their trainer and Lucas simply looked back at them with some surprise in their expressions.
"Your Pokémon are quite the energetic batch is it?" Lucas questioned the first Champion of Kanto as he looked back to him.
"Well they are like that at times…." Red said back to him with a smile, "but not everyone is Prefect…. And in a way, that's what makes everyone special…."
"Plus I did hear every family has their normal… so that's what makes everyone special in a way." Red continued as he then felt a brief sense of sadness when mentioned it, Something Lucas noticed as well,
"Hey Red, Are you ok?" Said the Blond PSI user as he looked back at him, The older boy noticing the latter's worried face when he does so.
"I'm fine," Red answered back to him, A bit with some worry in his throught as he did so. "It's just, I never really saw my Dad all that much when I was younger…."
Upon hearing the Words that came out of Red's Mouth, Lucas's Face turned to shock at what Red has mentioned,
He knows that the Older Pokémon trainer often treated him like the older brother Claude would have been had he not been brainwashed by the Pig Masks but he never expected him to also be a victim of a lost father as well liked Ness (Well to be more exact, a Father whom wasn't home much).
"Red…. What happened to your dad?" Lucas said back to Red as he looked back at him with fear and worry for the older boy's parent.
"…He went on a Journey to find Mew…. And he never came back, Even Professor Oak whom was a close friend of his, never heard from him again…." Red said back to Lucas after some hesitation in his own throat while looking back at Charizard whom was helping Ivysaur keep Squirtle from attempting to try and fly up to the Moon.
"I pick Charizard as my starter because of the name he gave me when he was just a Charmander…" He continued as a lone tear soon escaped his eye. "But I wanted to see him again, Show how far I have became as a trainer…"
"That's also why I turned down the title of becoming Champion full time and left to travel around the world to find him…." Red finished off his words as the tear ran down his check, splashing onto the ground in the process.
Upon hearing what Red has just said, Lucas felt a similar sense of similarity to what happened with Ness, Who's Father was absent form a good chunk of his life, But like Ness's, Red's was gone form the picture…. Possibly Forever.
"Hey Red, I guess I never told you the full story of what happened with Mine din't you…." Lucas said back to him with some sadness in his tone while doing so. "But it's something I'm not comfortable talking to with the others…."
"…Not even Ness."
"Well relax, I won't spread it out to the others…." Red said back to the younger boy with a smile. "If you need a listening ear, I'm here for you."
While the Look on Red's face may have given him some confidence in doing so, Lucas hesitantly told Red the tragedy about his family, His Brother's near fatal Death and reconstruction into the Mask man, His Mom dying to the Mecha-Drago and his father's Neglect for him after the loss of his brother and His brother's death.
Red was quite shock at this when he heard, Same with Charizard whom was struggling to keep Squritle from flying off with an aqua jet, A look of shock soon appearing on his snout, same with his fellow Kanto Starters.
"I… I…. Don't know what to say Lucas… But It must be hard on you…." Red said back to him with some concern in his tone. "You must been through a lot before the tournaments…."
"It is…." He answered back to him as he quickly banished his battles with Porky from his mind, And Ness's reaction to seeing him in the ruined Zoo as well. "It's why I was scared when I Saw Wario turned Ness into a trophy…."
"It was almost like when I saw Claus died in front of me, It was like my nightmares happening again."
"And why I was close to you the whole time during the Subspace Incident…. " Lucas continued as his voice grew heavier the more he spoke, Tears rolling down his eyes as he looked back at him.
"Even with Duster, Boner and Kumatora's Help, I don't want to lose anyone I'm close to again….." he cried out to the older boy while he was almost tempt to cry into his shoulder. "I don't want to lose you or Ness either!"
Knowing the tone and reluctance of his tone clearly shows Lucas shows that he really show more scars Compared to the other smashers when the worst he faced was Giovanni both in the Sliph Coperation and the leader of Team Rocket's Gym for his badge.
Team Rocket are just criminals whom wanted to exploit Pokémon and rule the world but Porky?
From what he had heard form Lucas, He was beyond saving as he was willing to awaken the Dusk Dragon... Just for the fun of it, No false belief of being a Hero, No desire to save someone, But a twisted way of wanting to see what's left of Lucas's World go up in Flames and destruction.
"Hey Lucas, I know you have a broken family right now…. But you have me , my Pokémon, Duster, Boney and Kumatora as a family in a way….." Red said back to the blond haired PSI user.
"Really?" Lucas said the Older boy as he looked back at him with wiped off tears.
"Well you can say it's an Ohana instead however….." Red said back to him with a smile as he looked into the stary night.
"Ohana?" Lucas said back to the young Kanto Trainer with some surprise in his tone.
"There's a region in been to in before I was invited to this tournament called Alola," Red continued back to the young boy with a smile. "I learnt it from the regional Professor of Alola named Kukui and his wife Burnet."
"They were in a way like my mom, Professor Oak, Daisy and Blue, A second Family to me in a way." He continued as he chuckled at a time before he went on his Journey, "I even challenge Kukui to a battle as well and he wasn't joking about him being a League winner in the past!"
"Man though, his Incineroar gave me a run for my money!" Charizard said back to Lucas with a smile, Proudly showing the bracelet on his neck that has a Blue and black stone embedded into it. "Even with the power of Mega Evolution, He was the Fourth strongest foe I faced since Blue's Blastoise, Chari and Mewtwo!"
"True about that...' Ivysaur said back to the Leader/ Occasional Meathead of her team with a smirk on her face. "Though I think Chari really set you straight since she not only she can Mega Evolve but also slap some common sense into you as well."
"Hey! She's like a Dragonite in a Charizard's Body" Charizard growled back to her. "And besides, Whom won't WANT to get a good Mate you can spar with every now and then..."
"She's like the Queen of other Charizards in a way!"
"Well you really are battle first, Ask questions latter..." Ivysaur said back to the Flame Pokémon with a sigh soon following what she has just said.
"Mewtwo?" Lucas questioned back to the Fire Pokémon with some surprise in his tone as he interrupted the latter's love life. "I heard about him form Ness, How you and Red were among the first people whom opened his eyes to others, But how did that happen?"
"It's a long story." Red answered back for his Pokémon as he looked up into the night sky with a smile of happiness, "But the point is Lucas, Family doesn't necessary have to be people whom has similar blood to you…."
"It can be anyone whom you have a close bond to….Like your Pokémon team or even a good group of friends as well."
"Well Squritle may be an energetic Kid for his species and Chairzard's a hot headed Battle seeker, But they're like siblings to be in a way." Ivysaur said back to Lucas as Squritle whom was actually starting to get interested in the conversation.
"Yes they can drive you Zubat-Crazy at times with their antics, But even then there's something they have others don't... A shoulder to cry on every now and then..."
"Well Ivysaur's right!" Squirtle said back to his trainer's friend with a smile as he looked up from his teammate's vines. "my first trainer was the rudest guy I seen in my life! He said I couldn't beat Lt Surge and tossed me out for a Charmander he got recently as well!"
"But Red took me in and he even trained to be strong without evolving!" He cotinued with a smile has he dashed toward's his trainer. "I won't trade him for anyone else!"
"He got a point there Lucas," Charizard said back to the young pyschi user with a smile. "If me and Red can achive Mega Evolution together, it shows our bond is more then just being friends…."
"We're like brothers to each others, Brothers whom won't leave each other beind to be exact."
Lucas, upon hearing the words come out of the Mouths of Red's Team, Lucas then teared up a bit as he heard the words.
"It's true Lucas, We may not be actual Brothers…. But I can help fill the gaps of where Claus left behind for you." He answered back to him with a smile. "You still got your dad after all."
"…Thanks Red," Lucas said back to him with a smile. "I Guess you're right, You, Ness, Duster, Kumatora and Boney got my back after all."
"Now that's the spirit!" Red said back to him with a smile. "Never give up till the very end!"
Lucas then gave the older boy a hug, no doubt the fact Red cheered him up was enough of a reason to give him one.
"Relax Luc, Even if I'm not there for you, Take this with you." Red said back to the younger boy as he loosen his grip on him.
Lucas then looked back at the gift red has given him and to his surprise, It was a stone that looks like Charizard's but clear with a blue and brown swirl in it.
"Hey Red? Is this?" He said back to the young trainer whom smiled back at him.
"A stone like Charizard's? Yes it is." Red answered back to him with a smile. "It's a Blastoisnite, A Mega Stone for Blastoise,"
"But if it's yours, Why do you gave it to me?" Lucas said back to him in surprise. "Would Squritle want it in case he changed his mind about evolving?"
"Nah, He made it clear he doesn't want to evolve in the future." Red answered back to him with a smile, Squritle returning the smile as well. "And Besides, It may not be useful for you but remember, that Blastoisnite can be a way to remind of each other, Even if we're apart."
Upon hearing this choice of good words, Lucas gave him another hug, While clenching the stone in his hands as well.
"Thanks Red," He answered back to him with a smile. "You're the best."
"No problem…" Red said back to Lucas with a smile. "Besides I'm not much of a party person so I'm in no hurry to get back to the Mansion, so you want to look up into the sky some more?"
"Sure." Lucas answered back to his new surrogated brother with a smile. "I'm good."
The Rest of night remained with tranqulity as Red, Lucas and the former's three Pokémon remained slient as they gazed upon a shooting star,
They may not be the same species or blood, But they are family…. An Ohana to be exact.

Author's Note:
Nothing much here to talk about save for the Ohana word (And yes, It's form Lilo and Stitch,) and since Alola is based of Hawaii, It fits in a way (Heck, While it may not be as Good as Pokémon Black and White's story to some, Sun and Moon managed to create theme with both evil organisation leaders (Team Skull being a family of rejects and Failures and Lusamine's grief of losing her husband and the effects it had on Lillie and Gladion when she became obsessed with the Ultra Beast being the driving point of SM's story)
As for Lucas's Mega Stone (The Blastoisnite), It will be like the Buginium Z Crystal Meggy got from Guzma in Squids, Punks and Dragons, A Memento from the trainer that helped them. (Lucas's isn't a necklace like Meggy's However and he keep it in his pocket) (Red found the other two Kanto Starters Mega Stones at some point during his travels and the reason he gave Lucas the Blastoisnite was due to Ivysaur having no problems with Evolving unlike Squritle)
And yes, That Blastoisinite is the same one Lucas has in WOL-DX chapter 8, (Small trivia for you folks whom read WOL-DX)
Also the Kanto starter moments, They're like a group of siblings, Ivysaur's the responsible middle sister, Charizard's the Headstrong older brother and Squirtle's the youngest and most active of the three.
Also Minor Headcanon, Red is like a brother to Lucas in the smash Series, Hence why he may butt heads with Wario at times and good friends with Ness as well. (Also I'm anti Ness/Lucas, I think the latter doesn't really care for romance at this point of his life and Ness already has Paula.)
As for the encounter with Kukui mentioned by Red and Charizard here, It's something to get the whole Ohana pharse to Red in this series (And he visted Alola before the events of HG/SS in this series in the three years before that game.)
(Since the Kanto and Hoeen games are more or less comfirmed to be occuring at the same time, Red didn't visted Hoeen in his travels but he did meet Steven in Sinnoh at some point in time)
And before you ask, Red (and by extension his Team, Leaf, Chari Pikachu, Libre, Pichu Jigglypuff and Mewtwo) all came form the Normal Sun and Moon-Verse, But both it and the Ultra-Verse have some similarities like Kukui having an Incineroar in both Verses.
Yeah, Lucas, I had to look up TV Tropes for his character and man, He been through a lot compared to Ness, Poor dude may need a hug at some point (Heck, He and Lucina may get along well despite the latter having her parents back)
