Over the Top (NatsuXJuvia)
As everyone else was having a rowdy-old time at Fairy Tail, Juvia was sitting at the bar, a far-off loving look on her face as she happily sighed. Soon, her beloved would arrive to sweep her off her feet for their special date.
"Someone sounds happy." Juvia snapped out her daze and saw Lucy sitting next to her.
"Juvia is very happy!" The water mage said with a smile. "Today is Natsu and Juvia's one-year anniversary!"
If you had asked Lucy a year ago if she'd ever be casually chatting with Juvia or that the Rain Woman and her hotheaded teammate would be dating, she'd have probably called you crazy. The celestial mage could still remember the chain of events that led to the two over the top wizards falling for each other.
Back when Juvia was still obsessed with Gray, the water mage decided that she would join their team on more jobs to get closer to her beloved Gray. Those first few weeks were hectic. The team was naturally chaotic between Natsu, Gray and Erza. Juvia's own brand of crazy just added more fuel to the fire, especially when she kept accusing Lucy and Erza of trying to steal Gray from her.
The only ones who didn't seem bothered by this was Wendy (who was simply happy to have another friend going on jobs with them), Carla, Happy, and Natsu. The mischievous dragon-slayer found Juvia's antics to be amusing. Partially because they annoyed Gray to no end, and partially because he found the rain woman's passion to be genuinely funny.
But that changed when the team found themselves fighting a fire elemental during a job. The powerful entity easily took on the entire team, Natsu and Erza barely withstanding its powerful blows thanks to their respective magics. But Juvia was the one who ended up saving the day, her powerful Water Magic eventually taking down the rampaging entity. At the time, Lucy thought the amazed look in Natsu's eyes were the same as everyone else's.
After that, the girls of Team Natsu noticed a change in Natsu's behaviour when it came to Juvia. He attempted to chat with her whenever they had freetime, he was constantly complimenting her in his own unique way, and whenever Juvia fawned over Gray, the pinkette would get a jealous look on his face.
Lucy still remembered when the team had entered a town for a new job, and he confided in Lucy about how 'weird' he felt around Juvia.
"You're so clueless." Lucy joked, confusing Natsu.
"What do ya mean?"
"Natsu, you're in love with Juvia." The blonde said, making Natsu stop in his tracks as he got a look of realization on his face.
"Huh." The dragon-slayer said before looking in the distance and seeing Juvia clinging to Gray's arm. Before Lucy could say anything, Natsu ran off towards Gray and Juvia.
"Hey, Juvia!" Natsu yelled, getting everyone's attention.
'Wait, is he going to-"
With a big smile on his face and absolutely no shame, Natsu belted out, "I love you!" at the top of his lungs, causing Lucy to fall down comedically and the rest of the team to look at Natsu in shock. Especially Juvia, who had turned into a blushing mess.
Juvia was conflicted after that. She still wanted to be with her beloved Gray...but she also found herself growing fond of Natsu during the time they had spent together. Of all people, Gray was the one who convinced her to give Natsu a shot. So when the team returned to Magnolia, Natsu and Juvia went on their first date.
The two hit it off surprisingly well. Their passionate and enthusiastic sides seemed to be a perfect match for each other. The more Juvia hung around Natsu, the more she found herself falling for his boyish charms. Not to mention that his antics never failed to make her laugh...at least when she wasn't the butt of the joke. And the same went with Natsu, who kept finding new things to love about Juvia the more they spent together. Especially her cooking.
It wasn't long before Natsu and Juvia became a 'lovey-dovey' couple, according to Happy. The two would almost always be seen together, holding hands, complementing each other, and getting into shenanigans. But the most common thing the couple was seen doing was snuggling with each other. Apparently, their contrasting natural body temperatures (Natsu being a walking furnace and Juvia being as cool as a light rain) made them the perfect hugging partners for each other. And when the two fought together, no enemy could stand in their way.
Lucy was happy for the two...but their sickeningly sweet romance only made her realize how much she wanted a boyfriend. It also kind of hurt her pride (as well as Erza and Gray's pride) that Natsu of all people had entered a stable and committed relationship before them. But she kept that to herself.
"So, you guys got big plans tonight?" Lucy asked as Mirajane served them their drinks.
"Well, Natsu said he was taking Juvia to see an 'awesome sight' outside of town." Juvia said before an excited look appeared on her face. "Maybe Natsu's planning on proposing to Juvia!"
"That wouldn't surprise me." Lucy said as she began to take a sip of her drink while Juvia clamored on in glee.
"Juvia's darling Natsu will propose! Soon we'll be married, living in the same house, and have forty-eight beautiful babies!"
Hearing that last statement made Lucy spit out her beer and cough. "FORTY-EIGHT?! ARE YOU KIDDING?!"
"Is something wrong with that?" Juvia asked as if she said something completely normal.
"THERE'S NO WAY YOU AND NATSU CAN HAVE FORTY-EIGHT KIDS!"
"I gotta agree with Lucy on this." The two girls jumped and turned to see Natsu standing behind them. "Forty-eight is way too many, Juvia."
'Never thought Natsu would be the voice of reason.' Lucy thought before a big, dumb smile appeared on Natsu's face.
"I'd be cool with just twelve or fifteen!" He said with a thumbs up, causing Lucy to fall out of her seat in shock.
"Really? But Juvia wants to give Natsu the biggest family she can." Juvia said as she held Natsu's hand. In return, the dragon-slayer ran his other hand through Juvia's hair.
"It doesn't matter how many kids we have. They're our kids, so they're gonna be awesome!"
"Oh, Natsu!" Juvia proclaimed, giving her boyfriend a passionate kiss on the lips before snuggling up against his neck. As the two began another cuddling session, Lucy decided to leave the two to their craziness.
'They're just being over the top.' Lucy thought to herself. 'After the first kid, Juvia's never gonna want to give birth again.'
Two years later, Lucy would be proven right and Juvia only did give birth one time...but during that one time, she ended up giving birth to seven babies! Four girls and three boys!
"Welcome to the world, guys!" Natsu said as he tickled his third son's nose. Juvia giggled as she held up a daughter and son while the rest of their kids laid on the clinic bed. As the newly-increased family rejoiced, the rest of Fairy Tail was absolutely stunned.
It seemed that whether it be fighting, romance, or raising a family, Natsu and Juvia were determined to be as over the top as possible!
Author's Note: So I wanted to try something a bit different instead of the usual female muscle lemons. I'm still writing them, but I wanted to do something short and sweet to broaden my plate as it were.
So the idea of Romantic Musings came to mind. Short one-shots focused on all the pairings I like, whether they be popular or crack (though I don't like using that word). And not just for Fairy Tail. I might do one-shots for other anime too.
