Hi everyone. I have had this chapter up my sleeve for a while now, it was originally a one shot but I'm thinking of making it a shorter story then my other ones. Maybe about 10 chapters? Depending if people like first chapter I will keep it going.

It had been five years since Erin had left Chicago, five years since she left her family and friends and five years since she left the first man that she truely loved with nothing but a goodbye. But it was time to go back, she wanted to stay away but she knew she had to be there for the man that raised her like he was there for her all those years ago.

This was about Al, she couldn't believe it, he was really gone. She got the phone call when it happened but she knew she couldn't be there straight away it would have been to hard on her and the people she left, but when she got the phone all of Trudy Platt that Hank was spiralling she knew she was the only person that could help was her.

The only thing was she didn't just have herself to worry about anymore, she had her son. Her four year old boy. She knew the consequences of going back, she would have to tell the father because if she didn't she knew that somehow he would find out off somebody and that would make things ten times worse.

No one knew besides Hank knew that Erin was pregnant when she got to New York and that she had the baby, a little boy that grew into the spitting image of his father. He had bright green eyes, light freckles all over and that same Halstead smirk that both Jay and Will had. He had grown into quiet the little man, he was passionate, smart and caring. Watching him grow and seeing his personality form it made her regret not saying something sooner but for some reason she just thought it would be easy not too but who was she kidding?

So after the phone call from Trudy she got up and started packing a few things, not knowing how long they'd be in her hometown for. She knew that Levi William Halstead would wake up with a thousand questions and she didn't know how to explain everything but she knew he was smart and he'd figure it out sooner or later so the best option was to just shoot it straight, he was strong and brave enough.

Erin didn't sleep at all that night, she tried ringing Hank a hundred times but no answer. The only person she'd spoken to was Trudy, telling her she'd be in Chicago just past lunch and that she didn't want anybody to know until Hank was sorted.

It wasn't long until she heard the pitta patter of feet coming into her bedroom, quickly she knelt down as the door swung open, she was still so happy that every single morning when her little boy would wake up the first thing he done was come running into her arms, so she knew she had to cherish these moments, not knowing how long they'd last but knowing it wouldn't be forever.

"Mumma, what's going on?" Levi said as he pulled out of Erins tight grip.

"Buddy we have to go on a trip," Erin paused and sat on the edge of the bed, Levi jumping up to join her, "Remember a while ago how I said I lived somewhere else for a long time? Well we need to go back there, there's some things I need to sort out and help with."

"Like what? Is it grandpa?" Levi asked.

"Yeah buddy it is, he lost a really close friend and he's having a hard time with it all." Erin said sadly, trying not to choke on the thought, it was hurting her just thinking about it.

Levi noticed his mum getting a little sad so he slid closer to her and wrapped his arms around her side, "Okay mummy, when are we going?"

"What would I do without you huh? Always taking care of me," Erin smiled as she kissed his forehead, "We are leaving soon, so I need you to go grab a few toys and brush your teeth then we will go."

"Are we driving?" Levi said curiously.

"Actually no we are going on a airplane, how do you feel about that?" Erin said forgetting that he'd never been on an airplane, Erin didn't get much time to be able to go away.

"Excited! This is going to be so fun!" Levi said excitedly as he started jumping up and down.

"Hunny, there's something else I need to tell you," Erin took a deep breath, "About your daddy."

Levi nodded as he sadly dropped his head, "Why don't I have a daddy?"

"Hey come here bud," Erin said opening her arms, "I know it's always been hard to understand, but you need to know that he doesn't know about you, he's been off fighting bad guys and trust me if he did know about you he'd love you with everything he has."

"So does that mean I get to meet him?" Levi said with wide eyes.

"I really hope so, I just need you to understand that him not being here has nothing to do with you though, okay?" Erin said squeezing the little boy in her arms.

"I understand." Levi said squeezing back.

"Okay good. Now quick go brush your teeth, we have to leave soon."

Finally they had arrived in Chicago, the whole flight Levi was buzzing with excitement while Erin was putting on a brave face. She hadn't looked back when she probably should have and she was definitely nervous to see everyone.

"Come on bud, we are here." She smiled as she stood up grabbing onto Levi's hand.

"Where will we be staying?" Levi questioned.

"Not 100% certain yet, maybe grandpa Hanks? But I have a hotel on standby if not."

"Why wouldn't we stay with grandpa Hank?"

Levi knew who Hank was, once he was old enough Erin made sure to FaceTime so Levi could get to know him. Levi always wanted to meet him but Erin was always nervous and busy with work to come back to Chicago and she knew if Hank visited she would probably want to follow him home.

"He has a lot going on Levi, we just have to wait and see, but you get to meet another one of mums friends while we are here, she's picking us up." Erin smiled.

"What's her name?"

"Trudy."

Levi smiled and held his mother's hands while they excited the plane, he then stayed close by while they waited for their bags. Levi knew that whenever they were out and about he had to always have his mother insight, no running off or talking to strangers.

They walked out to the pick up area, Erin felt her stomach turn multiple times, she couldn't shake her nervousness. But she relaxed a little when she saw a familiar face.

"Lindsay?" Trudy said somewhat happy to see her but confused was written all over her face.

"Hey Trudy," Erin knelt down to her sons level, "Bud this is Trudy, she's an old friend, say Hi."

"Hi Trudy, it's nice to meet you."

"Wow, very polite young man. What's your name?" She asked, looking at him and taking in all his features, putting together the dots.

"Levi William Halstead." He said proudly.

Erin's eyes went wide, she didn't expect him to use his full name. Trudy smiled and quickly snapped her head in Erin's direction, ready for some type of explanation.

"We should get going." Erin said clearing her throat.

"Yep let's get going, I got onto Hank, he knows your coming."

"And how did that go?"

"It went." Trudy said as they walked off to the direction of her car.

They made it to Hanks, there was definitely a lot of questions Trudy wanted to ask but she knew better then to talk in front of a four year old. She could also tell Erin was nervous and the whole thing with Hank was already a lot to handle.

Levi busied himself with his iPad in the backseat while Trudy and Erin made some sort of small talk.

"We're here." Trudy said pulling into the driveway.

Erin took a few deep breaths, "Hasn't changed."

"Now I saw him a couple days ago before Als funeral and he was in bad shape, I'm not sure what he's looking like now."

"I can handle it Trudy." Erin smiled.

"Yeah I know you can but will it freak the kid out?"

Erin chuckled, "He's a tough kid he will be fine."

"Just like his dad then?" Trudy said immediately wanting to retract her statement.

Erin quickly got out of the car and opened up the back door as Levi undone his seatbelt and jumped out of the car seat, "Come on Levi, let's go meet grandpa."

"I hope he likes me." Levi said as he walked next to his mum.

Erin ran her fingers through his thick hair, "He already knows you bud and he loves you. He's been so eager to meet you since the day you were born."

"Erin I'm going to go, tell Hank to ring me when he has a chance and you should definitely think about popping by the district. I know it's been a while and things are different now, a lot different but everyone would be happy to see you." Trudy smiled.

"Thanks Trudy, I will think about it." Erin smiled and both her and Levi waved as Trudy drove off.

Suddenly the door opened and a wave of emotions washed over Erin as she fell into Hanks arms, she was so happy to see him but knowing the circumstances and seeing him face to face was a lot harder then she imagined.

"It's good to see you kid." He said into her hair.

"Same here Hank I have missed you."

They pulled away and Hank looked down at Levi, "It's so good to finally meet you little man. You have grown up so much."

"See I told you he'd be happy to see you." Erin smiled.

Levi put out his arms as Hank knelt down to his level bringing him in for a hug, "Hi grandpa."

"Hi Levi," Hank said then let go of the young boy, "Shall we go inside, we have a lot to catch up on."

"That we do." Erin agreed.

The rest of the afternoon was spent with Hank and Levi throwing a baseball in the backyard, grilling some burgers on the BBQ then a few kid shows before bed.

Once Levi was comfortable in the room Hank had set up for him, Erin and Hank got comfortable in the living room with a bottle of a scotch, they had a lot to go over.

"I'm really sorry I couldn't come back Hank, I know I should have but I couldn't do it. It was all my fault that Al was put in that position, it's my fault his dead. I guess I couldn't look people in the eye knowing that."

Hank waved her off, "Al never blamed you. He knew the costs moving the body, you were his family too, he wanted to help you."

"I know but that doesn't change anything, it still happened because of me."

"No it happened because of me, Erin you need to let it go."

Erin took a big gulp, "Maybe you need to tell yourself that too."

"I've tried but I just can't wrap my head around all of it." Hank shrugged.

"What do you mean?" Voight just shook his head, shutting himself off from that conversation but Erin wasn't going to let it go, he needed to get it off his chest, "Tell me everything Hank, remember we tell each other the good and the bad."

"It should never have gotten to this. You should have never been bought into this and neither should Al. I wanted to come clean, clear his name and yours if it ever came up but he wouldn't let it, he just kept saying we had it under control."

"Typical Olinsky." Erin chuckled.

"I nearly gave myself up. I met with Woods the night Al was stabbed, everything was about to be laid on the table so I could get Al out of there...and then it all happened." Hank took the last sip of his whiskey, quickly pouring him and Erin another one.

"The code you had was something else Hank, you would have done the exact same thing if it was him."

"I know, but still I don't think he would have ever put me in a position like that."

Erin shrugged, "Maybe. But you just have to put it in the past, it's done now."

"I just...I don't know what I'm suppose to do without him."

Erin grabbed his hand and squeezed it, "You've got me now. Everything's going to be okay."

"How long are you staying here for?" Hank questioned.

"As long as I need to, might show the little guy around Chicago." She smiled.

"And Jay?"

"I'm still not sure how I'm suppose to handle that situation yet, it's a lot to drop on someone, especially after what he's been through."

"Everyone has been through a lot the last week but you can't keep hiding his son from him, he deserves to know."

"Yeah I know Hank, I know."
