Credit to @dakt37 for the Six inch soldiers art on tumblr, I'd recommend checking it her blog out. This little drabble is based on some of her art of fives and tup, you can find it under her tag six inch soldiers. no characters from star wars belong to me.

Tup wakes up to something moving his hair, he turns around to look. He's moving slowly, tired and just ready to go back to sleep. Hes surprised to see his little brother, Fives sitting there, and he doesn't mean little as in younger.

No, Fives is actually his Ori'vod, but right now he's only six inches tall. He's not usually that small, someone had poisoned a few brothers in the Gar. It thankfully only shrunk them, and everyone has been trying to find a cure for the shrunken brothers.

"Wh... What the... What are you doing." Tup asks sluggishly, he's exhausted and just wants to go back to sleep. Fives doesn't even look up, he just continue's to braid.

"Braiding." He answers with his squeky voice without even looking up, he continues braiding Tup's hair as Tup looks on confused. Why would Fives be braiding his hair at this time of night, he should be asleep, especially when his body is at this size.

"Why?" Tup asks, he's not as sluggish as before. He's confused now.

"Boredom. Insomnia. Whatever." Fives says simply, hoping that Tup doesn't notice his puffy face. What he doesn't want to tell his Vod'ika is that he had a nightmare, a nightmare about the day he lost his brother, Echo. It scared him, he hates that memory. Tup glares at his brother, he doesn't understand why he woke him up.

"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't sit up real fast and dump you." Tup asks Fives annoyed, he's serious about doing it. Fives looks deadpan at him, he already knows what to say

"You're on a top bunk and the relative 20 meter drop would probably kill me." Tup feels a sharp pang of fear go through him at the thought of him killing his Ori'vod, what is wrong with him.

He looks over and notices how close Fives is to the edge, he carefully rolls himself over. Not hard enough to rip his hair away from Fives but enough so that he can cup his arms around Fives.

Fives looks back when Tup roll's over, seeing his arms around him protectively. He looks at his Vod'ika, noticing the spark of fear in his eyes, he feels guilty now. He smiles comfortingly, patting this arm.

"Thanks for protecting me, Vod'ika, but I'm fine. I'm sorry for scaring you." Tup nods, accepting his brothers apology but not removing his arms.

"I accept your apology, but it's better to be safe than sorry." Fives sighs, he doesn't want to keep his Vod'ika up. Tup looks absolutely exhausted, albeit more awake now that he's protecting Fives.

"Why are you up, Vod." Tup asks quietly after a few minutes of Fives braiding his hair in silence. Fives looks over at him, he doesn't know how to answer that question. He sighs, deciding to tell his brother about the nightmare.

"I had a nightmare, about my batchmate Echo. He died at the Citadel a little while before you joined the 501s." Tup looks down, he knows what it's like to lose a batchmate. That's why he has a teardrop tattoo, to remember him.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Tup whispers softly and Fives looks up at him, offering a comforting smile.

"It's okay Vod'ika, you don't have to be sorry. It feels good to talk about the nightmare, and braiding your hair is helping to calm me down." Tup nods, he's glad that it made Fives feel better.

Tup's still got his arms around Fives, protecting him from falling. He's starting to get tired, he can hear the soft snores of their brothers all around him.

"Well, you know why I'm awake." Tup says with a smirk, prompting Fives to smile at him guiltily.

"Yeah, sorry for waking you. I was trying to be gentle." Tup smiles comfortingly at Fives, stroking the back of his head gently with his finger.

"I know, Ori'vod. I could feel that you were being gentle. You should be going back to sleep now though. How did you even get up here?" Fives smirks at Tup.

"I used a shrunken grappling gun." Tup sighs, that is so dangerous and stupid, he could have hurt himself.

"Where's the gun now?" Fives smirk drops a little and he rubs the back of his neck nervously.

"It fell of the bunk, it's somewhere on the floor now." Tup sighs, he's going to have to pick that up tomorrow. Having tiny brother's is hard work.

"Okay, Fives. I think that it's the to sleep, do you want to sleep with me." Fives nods, he's not in the mood to sleep alone right now. Tup grabs Fives gently, being careful not to hurt him. He turns over and lays him on the pillow beside his head. Thankfully there's only wall on that side so he can't fall off.

Fives yawns as Tup grabs a little piece of blanket that had ripped off the other day, it's Thankfully the perfect size for Fives to cover up with.

"Thanks Tup, goodnight Vod'ika." Tup smiles, he loves his Ori'vod so much.

"Night Ori'vod, see you in the morning." Tup says before following Fives' example and closing his eyes, letting the soft snores of his brothers lull him back to sleep.
