A week later found both Shiryu and Mushu going to Sanctuary in Greece. Once they got there Mushu said, "Papa, why don't we live in Greece like the other saints?"
Shiryu replied, "Well, it's actually for Shunrei that we don't live here. As you well know she doesn't like the fact that we fight or are saints. She never approved she just deals with it because she knows that she won't win the argument. The other reason is because of Dohko. He always was more of a wondering soul than a stay in one place kind of man. He fell in love with his little paradise when Athena sent him there to watch over the scroll that kept Hades and his men at bay until a few years ago. Since I grew up there and it was all Shunrei knew before she got to know me well, she's comfortable there. I mean she only learned English and Japanese for us, but she would rather speak, her native language."
Mushu nodded as he saw his Uncle Hyoga standing next to the gate waiting for them. Shiryu followed at a more sedated pace. He knew that Hyoga was not as pleased about going through the trail to get the gold cloth but a lot of that had to do with not having an appetence yet. He had not taken a student since none of them seem to be able to even have an icy arura not like Hyoga or even Camus did.
Mushu gave his Uncle a hug as he beamed up at Hyoga. When Shiryu got up there Hyoga gave his brother a hug while he said, "Good to see you Shiryu. Now what's got my nephew all ecstatic suddenly."
Shiryu replied, "He got news that he wants to tell everyone. "
Hyoga smirked and said, "Mushu, would you tell me your news since I may not be in a good condition to hear it later."
Mushu looked at his Uncle and replied, "Uncle Hyoga, how could you not be in good condition to hear my news, since you look in good health?"
Shiryu said, "Hyoga, Mushu is telling everyone his good news before your match."
Hyoga nodded even though he wanted to know the news before the rest; he knew that trying get it out of his nephew wasn't happing.
As the trio approached the Libra temple Shiryu wasn't surprised to sense everyone in there except Athena and the Pope. Mushu was surprised and asked, "Why does everyone always seem to congregate around Libra?"
Everyone shrugged as none of them knew the reason. Shiryu said, "In theory Mushu it could be that Libra or Virgo, are considered the halfway point but since my temple is normally always empty, they decided this is the best place."
Everyone just nodded since it was true it was always empty, and it made a great hideout sadly you can't stay hidden as this was the first-place people tend to look. Seiya was the first to figure that out when he tried to hide from Alois once. He didn't want to train that day, so he hid in Libra sadly Alois found him less than 3 minutes.
Mushu said, "I got news for you all. I am now the bronze knight Dragon no Mushu! Also, good luck to you Uncle Hyoga and Uncle Camus."
All the saints that were around clapped and cheered for him. Mushu was smiling and trying not to be embarrassed by all the attention he was getting. It was one thing that Mushu hated was when all the attention was settled on him unless he was training then it didn't matter.
Shiryu said, "As I am glad for my son to make this achievement. The reason we are telling you now is that Athena had decided he needed to be taught the security details as he is going to be working hopefully up to god form if not defiantly gold form. Also, we have no idea what Hyoga and Camus condition was going to be like after their fight. Good luck to both of you and Hyoga you better beat Camus I don't want to be the only brother that still holds a gold cloth."
As everyone went to go to their places Shura took control and told Mushu to call on his armor and to follow him that he would show him what he was expected to do. Mushu nodded as he followed one of his most favorite uncles. Shiryu also called on his gold cloth and went to go to walk Athena and the Pope down.
When Shiryu finally got down to the others Mushu told him what he had learn to do. Shiryu was glad that Shura showed him some of the easier jobs but told him in detail the harder jobs. Then again Shura always found a way to do the easier jobs. As the fight was starting Shiryu was not a happy camper since both ice wielders made the air drop to below 0. One thing Shiryu couldn't stand being cold, ever since he held the bronze dragon cloth, he could not stand freezing temperatures. Plus, the fight wasn't even all that good it was boring but then again all they were doing was freezing the spectators. To compensate the boring battle Shura and Shiryu use that time to teach Mushu, how to read another's cosmos. The practice dummies for Mushu to practice on were his surrogate family which had no idea that they were selected. Mushu had learned how the cosmos reacted with them when they were relaxed, highly frustrated and irritated (Seiya who was also shivering) and fighting (Hyoga and Camus). Mushu was sure that Ikki and Deathmask were sleeping but he couldn't figure out if it were true or not.
After the battle ended Mushu had made good head way on sensing another's cosmos and was tired. Shiryu agreed that the battle took longer than necessary. He told the others that he would see them tomorrow since there was no party since Hyoga and Camus beat each other badly even though Hyoga did win in the end. Shiryu just wanted to go and get warmed up, Seiya wasn't far behind him on that idea. Ikki wanted to be warm too but he wouldn't state out loud.
He was worried about this up coming school year since he didn't know what to do. He knew that Mushu wanted to know what school was like, then again, he looked at himself he was homeschooled until he was eight then he had been sent to China to be taught how to be a saint. When he became a bronze at age 14, he was fighting two wars. After Hades, he decided to have Tatsumi come to China and help him finish his home school so he could at least have a high school diploma. Better than any of his other brothers did. He just hoped that his son would know enough to protect himself. Right now, they were working on using the Rozan Sho Ryu Ha multiple times. Poor Mushu could use it about two times before he would tire out. Which Shiryu was glad for he had to work on it for many months to get that far and even then Dohko couldn't do it more than once.
The other thing that had caught his attention was Mushu never showed off magic. He knew magic was real seeing that his wife was a witch. His first time around it let just say there is a reason why it called accidental magic and never to piss of a woman. It made him wonder that because he trained Mushu in the cosmos if that could be the reason why he never shown any accidental magic. Then again weren't they considered magical in a sense they could do things no humans can do maybe magic is a part of the cosmos or the other way around. Either way works.
The next day Mushu and Shiryu was warming up. Shiryu told Mushu that they were staying at Sanctuary until May. Mushu decided to ask, "Papa, why do my uncles always look so happy when they see us but as we are about to leave, they look depressed?"
Shiryu replied, "They are always happy to see us when we arrive because they see it as a special treat. Before you came to my life, I barely made time to see my family. I mainly trained and sadly forgot that there were others outside of China that loved me. I also have a bad habit of just dropping off the face of the Earth. So, when they see me leave, they are afraid I will go back to my ways. I haven't since they met you. I miss them just as much, but I also must do what is right with Shunrei. If she was willing to move here, then I wouldn't object."
After that explanation they went back to learning how to sense another's cosmos of humans and objects around them. Mushu couldn't figure out why he needed to learn this, but if his Papa believed he needed to learn it then who was he to complain. Shiryu just wanted to make sure that if his son ever ended up in his position, he would be able to still fight back. Sometimes in a fight you must keep fighting even when the fight becomes a handicap match, and you can't make a mistake. Sadly, he found that out when he was fighting the warrior who held the medusa shield.
On their third week at Sanctuary Mushu had gone off to train but ended up going to see Hyoga in the Aquarius temple. Even though Hyoga was a gold knight Camus still stayed at the temple to help Hyoga out. In other words, Camus was going to make sure Hyoga could hold his own then go into retirement for good and wonder around Russia look to train a new bronze Cygnus. Let's just say Hyoga wasn't fond of the idea but was dealing with it after two days of sulking.
Shura was sitting in the Capricorn temple, thinking about the little boy that had wormed his way into his heart just like his Papa did all those years ago. After the battle that he had against Shiryu, he had saw the young man as a brother. They both had the same goals in life just that Shiryu knew where to find the truth. The cosmos was the reason why he gave Shiryu the Excalibur technique. He was thinking about talking to Shiryu about teaching it to Mushu next year. He just wasn't sure how to bring it up. When he asked Milo what he thought about the idea. Milo just laughed and said, "Shiryu wouldn't care more arsenal that Mushu has up his sleeve the more Shiryu will feel that his son is safe."
Shura decided just to go ask Shiryu. What is the worst that could happen Shiryu saying no. As he walked to the Libra temple, he thought of how to phase his words. He noticed that Shiryu was alone which was rare normally he would have Kiki or one of his brothers with him. He said, "Shiryu, can I please speak to you?"
Shiryu nodded and said, "You know that you can Shura. We have been brothers in all but blood for many years now."
Shura replied, "It's still better to ask if I can talk to you then just presume that I can. What I need to talk to you about concerns Mushu?"
Shiryu asked, "What!"
Shura replied, "Nothing bad Shiryu, I just want your opinion on me teaching Mushu the Excalibur. The same one I taught you years ago."
Shiryu sighed in relief before saying, "It's a great idea Shura. I mean Mushu looks up to as an Uncle. You know this for a fact. Plus, more arsenal the child has the safer I feel letting him go to this school. I rather you not wait to teach him though."
Shura replied, "I can do that, and you can help polish the technique at home."
Shiryu nodded as the two men got up to find Mushu.
They weren't surprised to see him visiting Hyoga and Camus or they should say training against Hyoga. They weren't training in cloth, but they were only using hand to hand combat. Camus was refereeing and giving advice to both men. Shura and Shiryu sat on the side lines. Shura watched while Shiryu was feeling the cosmos levels. He was holding back his amusement since Hyoga's cosmos was sending off playfulness waves almost childlike while Mushu's was relax and carefree. As the battle came to a halt without either one winning since Hyoga didn't want to hurt his nephew.
Shiryu said, "Sorry to break up this little spar, but Mushu Shura has something he wants to ask you."
When Shura knew he had the boy's attention he said, "Mushu I taught your dad this move, and I think you would also be remarkable with this move. It's my personal attack it's known as Excalibur. I wish to teach it to you since you are just as determine as your dad to be the best knight Athena has. I taught it to him when he showed me that he was determined to give up his life for Athena. You have shown the same strength and determination as he has just in a different way."
Mushu said, "You really think that."
All four men nodded as it was true. Mushu was always ready to face a new challenge or even just do the simple basics. He always tried to help, and more times than not find a solution that nobody else would think of or want to think to try.
As May finally came and Shiryu and Mushu were on their way back home to China. Shura had already told Mushu that his dad would help him solidify the Excalibur. As he was still trying to get the hang of it. He was sure that when Shura and Shiryu had stated that it was an easy enough technique that they were lying. He was able to understand the theory, but he couldn't even get a blade to form and they just kept saying it takes practice. Mushu knew that he would never understand the saint's rule about we'll teach you the theory, but not tell you all the secretes to get the attack down quickly."
Then again Dohko always said, that a saint's life is never easy and some of the best laid plans always are the one you learn the hard way. Or in Mushu's mind he thought the term was when life gives you lemons make lemonade. He just knew that this attack was going to take a long time for him to learn. He just wished that he could make even a simple blade come out. He felt like he was letting down not only his Uncle but his papa too. He knew that his papa had picked up this attack quickly since he had to use it in a fight after being in a coma for a month. His papa didn't tell him any facts just that he learned the attack and lost his sight in that one battle. It seemed like he tried to forget the attack ever took place.
