Personal log stardate 59291.1 I've just been appointed as the chief of security for the discovery. The ship is currently docked at starbase 6. I'm currently on the base meeting some of the new crew which is proving to be a bit of a challenge but I'm managing. The amount of times that they said I was talking to loud or not making eye contact are excessive but again I'm managing...
LOCATION: STARBASE 6.
Lt Anna was deep in conversation with one of the officers who had just been assigned to the discovery. The officers continued to constantly derail the conversation with random trivia and other random stuff.
Lt Robertson: so did you know that verallian sea-spiders only lay 2 eggs and that the spiders care for their babies?
Lt Anna responds.
Lt Anna: I had no idea! You know my social skills are not the best so sometimes I do the same thing as what you're doing. I don't mind! I'm learning so much.
This continued for several minutes before the other Starfleet officer bid Anna farewell before heading off to their guest quarters to pack up their belongings before heading over to the discovery. Lt Anna smiled to herself and walked over to a table to sit down but before she could sit down she saw someone aimlessly wandering down the hallway and stimming and making a noise. One of the shopkeepers yelled at the person. Seeing this Anna got up and ran over. The shopkeeper grumbled and started hurling insults. before noticing Lt Anna in uniform and realizing that she was likely assigned as chief of security on the discovery
Shopkeeper: HEY YOU! GET OUT OF THE WAY YOU STUPID RETARD. I SAID MO...great security is here.
Lt Anna responds to this.
Lt Anna: first of all we don't refer to people with disabilities in that manner. Second of all as someone on the autism spectrum that comment made me want to scream. With all due respect. Stop harassing this person or I will have to report this incident to someone.
The shop keeper decided to stop. Soon after that Anna and the other person decided to walk back and sit down.
Lt Anna: you would think that people would learn that people on the spectrum aren't stupid. *sigh* sorry about this.
The person put a modified dataslate down and started tapping the screen with a stylus. Soon after that a voice came out of the dataslate
Communication device: thank you. I am Kennie. I like to swim. Do you like to swim?
Anna responds.
Lt Anna: yes! I do like to swim and you're welcome!
Kennie taps the screen a few more times and the communication device responds.
Communication device: Swimming is fun. My favorite food is chips.
Anna responds again.
Lt Anna: chips aren't bad. I like to dip mine in quac. How do you like yours.
Kennie flaps her hands and bounces up and down,clearly enjoying the conversation. She then taps the device a few more times.
Communication device: I like mine plain. Did you know that I have been assigned to the U.S.S discovery? I'm very excited!
Lt Anna is slightly shocked by the coincidence. The person that she bumped into just happens to be a starfleet officer assigned to the discovery! She then congratulates Kennie.
Lt Anna: well congratulations! You'll do great! In fact I serve on discovery too!
Kennie makes an excited noise and taps the device again.
Communication device: thank you! I'm hungry. Let's get something to eat. I also like pasta.
Lt Anna responds.
Lt Anna: you know what. I'm hungry too. You know what? We should get lunch together and continue to get to know each other.
Kennie smiles and taps the device with the stylus again.
Communication device: sounds good!
Lt Anna then gets up and pushes her chair in. Kennie does the same before grabbing her communication device. Both starfleet officers then walk off in search for lunch. As both of them walk Anna asks one more question.
Lt Anna: so how do you like your pasta?
Kennie taps the communication device again.
Communication device: I like it with red sauce and meatballs.
Lt Anna smiles and makes a mental note about that and they both continue walking.
