-Trisha's Spooky Valentine's Day Spring Break Christmas Special Part 3-
The next morning felt like...well...Christmas morning.
It certainly seemed that way thanks to all the decorations throughout the house.
Sarah was the first one to stir. The small doe having embraced the sense of the holiday around her. She sat up in bed and stretched her arms before turning and looking at her fellow bedmates.
Bunnies could be very social and physical mammals, especially when it came to napping.
Judy, Sarah, and Trisha proved that point as they normally curled up in bed during the Hopps visits to Manta Bay.
Sarah looked at her sister and reached over, placing her small paws on her sister's shoulders as she started to shake the storm gray bunny awake.
"Judy, Judy, Judy, wake up," Sarah whispered excitedly.
"Mmm...Sarah? What is it?" Judy asked as her eyes slowly fluttered open.
The multi-colored doe beamed down at her sibling, a pair of bright pink eyes shimmering.
"Its Christmas," Sarah said with a chuckle.
Judy's brain started to catch up and after blinking a few times she grinned.
"Well… it's kind of Christmas." Judy glanced over at Trisha and stifled a laugh.
The brown bunny was still passed out, her mouth open as she drooled on the pillow and snored.
"Think we should wake up the pumpkin-" Judy began but Sarah was too eager to wait for the question to be fully asked.
"Trisha!" Sarah bellowed as she bounced on the bed and hovered in the air before gravity took control.
Judy watched as a surprised Trisha's bright blue eyes popped open.
"What?" Trisha mumbled before her eyes bulged open as she witnessed a small multi-colored fluff ball falling towards her.
"Ack! Sarah!"
Meanwhile down the hall from Trisha's room, Peggy was giving her sons each a peck on the forehead before the young bucks hurried out the door.
"You all sure you don't want to stay?" Peggy asked sweetly. "Trisha said she made extra stuff for you all."
"It's not Christmas though," One of the older siblings said.
"Besides, she gets extra goofy when she has her friends over."
"Yeah, especially that painted dog."
"Oh, I think Delta is so sweet though," Peggy cooed.
"Yeah, heard he likes libraries," Came a snarky remark which got a flick on the ear. "Ow, mom!"
Peggy watched as her sons headed out the door, the boys had made plans to meet up with some friends for a baseball game at the local park.
The doe made her way back to the kitchen and continued with preparing a festive breakfast for the girls. In the end, she had opted for pancakes she could make in the shape of trees. She had made whip cream and colored it green which she planned to coat the pancakes in, adding to the effect.
As she studied her paw work she heard a muffled thump coming from her daughter's bedroom, followed by a muffled shout.
"Sounds like the trouble makers are awake," Mr. Rose said as he popped into the kitchen and gave his wife a peck on the cheek.
"Yeah, one of them is in the kitchen already," Peggy said as she gave her husband a wink.
"Hey now, I resemble that remark," Marcus said as he helped clear the table from the boy's breakfast. "Wonder how Jean is handling her house guests."
"Oh, I heard she is having a wonderful time of it. Nick brought a friend from Zootopia. A sweet painted dog named Copper."
"Well at least her parents named her right," Marcus chuckled.
"Watch what you say about that topic," Peggy said with a kind firmness that caught her mates attention. "She was abandoned as a pup and adopted. So her name may be the only right thing her birth parents gave her."
"Noted," Marcus said with a nod before placing the dishes in the sink. He leaned back over to his wife who was actually an inch taller than him. Giving her a gentle kiss on the cheek once more. "Thanks for looking out for me."
"I know how you always manage to get those big feet of yours in your mouth."
"Yeah yeah yeah," Marcus grumbled with a grin.
Meanwhile a few blocks away a certain painted dog was barreling through Jean's living room, a look of panic in her bright green eyes.
"She is in the living room!" Jean shouted from the kitchen as she spotted the panicked painted pup. The older vixen however continued with preparing breakfast.
"Hear that Nick?" Emily laughed.
"Oh Copper!" Nick cooed as he came running around a corner.
"No!" Copper shouted as she came to a stop at the entrance of the living room. Emily had cut the larger canine off and had a mischievous smile on her muzzle.
"Come on Copper," Emily insisted. "All the girls have to wear one."
"Nope," Copper said as she weaved around Emily who dived for the painted dog's ankles.
As she came around the corner she stopped in the hallway leading to the bedrooms. Nick was standing at one end of the hall, effectively cutting off Copper's escape.
The tod was in a bright green shirt with what looked like a Christmas present stitched onto the chest.
Copper couldn't help but smile at the ridiculous sight.
"Come on now Copper," Nick said as he slowly moved down the hallway. "Trisha's orders."
"It's so girly though," Copper grumbled as she took a step back only to stop when she noticed Emily cutting off her means of escape.
Emily was in a bright red shirt similar to Coppers. The young vixen had an adorable green bow wrapped around one of her ears. A strand of green fabric in one of her paws.
"I put one on," Emily pointed at the ribbon.
"I don't look good in ribbons though," Copper groaned.
Movement behind Emily caught everyone's attention.
Jean strolled out of the kitchen and the young pups all seemed to shrink in hesitation.
Nick remembered how he had been told to behave whenever he visited his family in Manta Bay and now here he was running all over their house.
He prepared to apologize until he saw Jean smile as she strolled down the hall. She reached down and scooped the ribbon from her daughter's paw and walked right towards Copper whose ears fell flat on her head.
"I'm sorry Ma'am," Copper said nervously.
Jean remained silent as she stopped in front of Copper and reached over, gently plucking at one of the painted dogs' circular tipped ears. With grace and a gentle touch, she wrapped a lovely looking bow on top of Copper's head.
Jean inspected her paw work and grinned, "All that trouble because you think you don't look good? I think you look so pretty, Copper."
"Re...really?" Copper asked as she blushed.
Jean beamed and nodded, "Now hurry up and come get some breakfast before it gets cold. The last thing I want is to anger the pumpkin queen by sending her hungry minions."
She placed a gentle paw on Copper's back and led her down the hall. Nick watched as Copper's tail swished happily back and forth. The pup always craved attention. Receiving such maternal kindness must have been just what she needed.
Nick and Emly hurried to catch up. Emily reached up and adjusted Copper's bow, the two females smiling at one another.
"We can put one on Nick later," Emily whispered which caused Copper to let out a snort.
"Wait what?!" Nick asked, his eyes widening.
While Trisha wanted today to remain as a surprise everyone had put two and two together. After all, they had just spent the night searching for pumpkins and ghosts and they were now dressed in festive outfits. It didn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out what the bunny had in store.
It became especially clear when each of them entered the Rose's family home. Trisha had found a few Christmas CDs and had a rather festive soundtrack filling the rooms.
Before everyone arrived she had even stuck a Christmas wreath on the front door.
She had tried to convince her father to string up some Christmas lights on the roof but sadly that was where her parents drew the line.
None the less it still felt a lot like Christmas, minus the snow.
Trisha however planned to remedy the lack of snow with her own crafts making game.
When Nick, Emily, and Copper arrived they were greeted by Peggy who opened the door and beamed down at the new arrivals.
"Well look at you three," The doe gushed as she stepped aside and ushered the three canines into her home. "Come in out of the cold before you catch something."
The three pups snickered at the last comment. Having a feeling Trisha's mother was simply playing along with the theme of the day. While it was somewhat brisk outside thanks to Manta Bay's seaside location it was far from cold.
"Oh my goodness you girls look adorable," Peggy exclaimed happily as she saw the ribbons around Emily and Copper's ears. "And you look so handsome Nick."
"Thank you, Aunt Peggy," Nick and Emily said happily.
"Thank you, Mrs. Rose," Copper added.
"No need for such formality dear," Peggy said as she put a small paw on Copper's back and lead the painted pup down the hall. "Call me what the others do or just call me Peg."
"Yes ma'am," Copper said with a smile as her tail swished.
When they arrived in the living room they were mesmerized by what they saw.
While Trisha hadn't been able to convince her parents about the lights on the roof, she had managed to guilt them into setting up a Christmas tree.
The festive spruce had been covered with ornaments and blinking lights of different colors.
Nick studied the tree for a moment before glancing around the room. While the tree looked amazing there was another sight that made his heart swell.
Judy was sitting on the floor by the tree, her bright purple eyes looking directly at Nick as she beamed at the tod.
His view of Judy however was interrupted by a pair of bright yellow eyes that filled his vision.
Atom, who had also been sitting on the floor, leaped up and hurried over. Wrapping Nick up in a hug.
"Oh gosh, Hi Atom," Nick let out as he was nearly lifted off the ground by the golden painted dog.
Everyone chuckled at Atom's antics as he set Nick down only to hurry over to Emily and then finally Copper. Giving each of the new arrivals a warm greeting.
Not to be outdone Sarah also hopped up from her spot on the floor and scurried over. Giving each of the canines a warm hug as she nuzzled her face into each of their stomachs. Being so short meant she couldn't exactly reach much higher than that.
Copper however changed that when she scooped up the small bunny in her arms and lifted her up. Sarah instinctively wrapping her arms around Copper for support as she leaned against the canine's shoulder.
It was at this point Nick noticed a pile of white construction paper had been spread out over the floor. Several pairs of scissors sat around the pile.
His inquisitive gaze did not go unnoticed by Trisha who was sitting next to Judy.
"You have to help us make it snow," Trisha said excitedly as she plucked up one of the pieces of construction paper.
As the new arrivals got settled in various spots around the living room Nick watched as Trisha began to fold the construction paper a few times before taking one of the scissors and making a series of cuts.
When the bunny was done she unfolded the paper and everyone gazed at Trisha's creation.
"How did you do that?" Delta asked as he looked at the snowflake which somehow had pumpkin shapes around the edges.
"The pumpkin queen does not reveal her secrets," Trisha teased as she gave her painted friend a wink.
Soon everyone joined in on the crafting fun.
Each of them trying to find ways to make unique snowflake shapes.
Atom seemed to be having the most trouble but it didn't seem to phase him at all. He would spend a whole minute making what would appear to be ornate cuts on the paper. Only to unfold it, causing the paper to simply burst into white confetti.
Both Emily and Copper chuckled at Atom who gave a snort as small bits of paper landed on his head.
Sarah crawled over to Atom and sat beside the painted dog.
"Here, like this," Sarah said sweetly as she began to demonstrate her own technique to Atom who watched intently at his small friend.
While the others busied themselves with making a snowstorm out of construction paper Judy sat closer to her fox. Even though everyone at the party knew where Nick and Judy stood when it came to their friendship it didn't stop the two from trying to hide it a little.
When the doe was satisfied everyone else was too preoccupied to notice she leaned over and rested her head against Nick's arm. The doe's eyes fluttering closed as she nuzzled against the tod's fur.
Nick felt an excited shiver run up his body as he looked down at the bunny using him as a pillow.
The urge to abandon his current task of making snowflakes was overwhelming, but he didn't want to make it too obvious.
After finishing up another wintry paper shape he set his scissors down and leaned against Judy who let out a soft purring like noise.
Nick took a chance and slowly reached an arm around Judy, wrapping her up in a hug as he pulled her closer.
There was a sudden snort that came from across the pile of white construction paper and Nick looked over to see both Emily and Copper staring at the fox. The look of smugness on both of their faces was a bit annoying.
Nick however just stuck his tongue out at the girls before leaning down and resting his head on top of Judy's.
Nick suddenly realized that while a snort was annoying there was a noise far worse.
"Awwwwwww," Both of them let out as they watched Nick cuddle with Judy.
"Trisha?" Judy asked in a muffled voice as she buried her face into Nick's chest.
Trisha looked up from her snowflake project and glanced at Judy. A smirk graced her lips as she watched Judy and Nick embrace. She then noticed the "Awwws" coming from the other side of the room.
She looked over at Emily and Copper and grinned.
The small brown bunny suddenly stood up and scrambled on top of the pile of construction paper.
"Blizzard!" The bunny shouted as she started to kick up the pieces of paper in Copper and Emily's direction, the two canines suddenly covered in bits of white paper.
"Ack Trisha!" Emily blurted out.
"Oh, no snowstorm!" Copper joined in.
"Snowstorm!" Sarah shouted as she too hurried over and began to scoop up bits of white paper which she then proceeded to toss on top of Copper and Emily.
"Mmmm, thank you, Trisha," Judy mumbled as she placed her paws on Nick's chest and continued to rub her cheeks against the fox.
Eventually, Peggy returned to see what all the commotion was about and stopped in the hallway, clearing her throat as she crossed her arms.
Trisha's ears shot up before lowering slowly as she turned and gave her mother an innocent smile that fooled no one.
"Mom, thank goodness your here," Trisha began as she slowly walked over. "There was a freak snowstorm that came out of nowhere. We tried to stop it but…"
Peggy looked down at her daughter and began to tap one of her large feet on the carpet.
"Also a yeti showed up," Trisha added.
"Is this the same Yeti that filled your brother's backpack with pinecones last week?"
"Yes," Trisha grinned. "I think he is stalking our family."
Peggy rolled her eyes and placed a paw on top of Trisha's head, giving her daughter a gentle rub between her ears. She then leaned down and looked Trisha in the eyes.
"You better shovel up all this snow, you don't want it to get lost when its time for presents."
Trisha beamed and nodded quickly.
The brown bunny then turned back to her friends and hurried over, inspecting the pile of completed snowflakes.
"Think we have enough."
"No thanks to Judy and Nick," Delta grumbled before a rolled up ball of construction paper hit him on the side of the head. The canine looked over at Trisha who gave him a knowing look.
Everyone shared a laugh, even Nick and Judy.
It was true. While everyone else had been busy with making different snowflakes the fox and bunny couple had spent most of their time nestled closely together.
As it turned out Sarah and Atom had been very busy and managed to make a small pile of unique paper snowflakes all on their own.
Before they could put any of the snowflakes up however they needed to clean up the living room. Which didn't take too long when everyone pitched in.
Copper however grumbled on occasion how she and Emily didn't make the mess but had the mess attack them.
"I know right? Don't worry though, I know how we can get her back," Emily chuckled before giving Copper a nudge which made the other canine smirk.
Eventually, they managed to get the "snow" shoveled up and placed in a neat pile by one of the couches.
Peggy returned and was impressed with the lack of mess, "Next time it snows I think I know who to call for shoveling."
"Depends, what's the pay?" Trisha asked as one of her ears went up.
"How about some ice cream?" Peggy asked as she folded her arms and gave her daughter a smug look.
Atom shot straight up from his spot on the floor and began to bounce up and down, raising a paw in the air as he volunteered for the job.
"Oh that's not fair," Trisha grumbled.
Nick found it rather amusing how the older doe knew exactly what to say to get one of the gang to volunteer. She must have known that if Atom was in then the rest of the group would follow, not wanting to leave a friend to do all the work on his own.
The group spent the rest of the morning taping their snowflake creations to the walls around the living room. Peggy even brought some string so they could hang the paper snowflakes from parts of the ceiling.
"Well looks like we have quite the flurry this year," Peggy said as she stepped back and inspected the groups paw work from the hallway.
The kits all stood under the various snowflakes and looked around in awe.
"Snowing," Sarah mumbled from Atom's arms as she tried to reach up and touch one of the gently spinning paper shapes.
While everyone was busy looking around the "snow" covered living room Nick noticed something.
"Uh oh," the young fox mumbled as he began to look around.
"What's wrong?" Judy asked as she gave Nick a concerned tilt of the head stare.
"Wheres Trisha?"
Judy's eyes widened as she began to frantically look around.
"Oh, carrot sticks."
Both of them had learned how it was wise to always know where a certain brown furred trouble maker was. Losing track of her would always end in disaster.
They didn't have to wait long though to find out what Trisha was up to. Some odd jingling coming from the hallway signaled the doe's return.
Everyone watched as Trisha reappeared in the living room. She had changed her outfit and was now in a red t-shirt with white trim. A small Santa hat sat on top of her head, causing her ears to lay limply behind her head.
"Oh my gosh," Judy chuckled as she watched Trisha hop into the living room, a pair of jingling bells attached to a collar currently around the doe's neck. She then noticed the large green sack Trisha had hefted over her shoulder.
"Santa Bunny!" Sarah cheered as she hopped from Atom's arms and hurried over.
Trisha was surprised at how fast Sarah could move and was caught off guard as the multi-colored cutie collided with her.
"Ack! Sarah watch out," Trisha began to say as she leaned to one side.
Unfortunately, it was too late. Between the weight of the green sack and Sarah's overzealous need to hug Trisha the bunny lost her balance and fell on top of the sack.
There was a muffled smooshing noise from the bag as Trisha and Sarah laid on top of it.
"Oooops," Sarah said as she popped an eye open but held onto Trisha none the less.
"She is starting to act like Trisha," Copper chuckled.
"That's the last thing we need," Delta teased.
"What? Don't want two girlfriends?" Emily asked as she put a paw on her hip and grinned over at Delta whose ears shot straight up.
"I like it when the attention is off us," Judy whispered up to Nick who nodded eagerly as he watched a certain flustered painted pup.
While all this was happening Sarah had managed to get off of Trisha and was helping the Santa dressed doe to her feet.
"Sorry Santa," Sarah said nervously.
"It's ok," Trisha said with a grin as she reached over and gave Sarah a gentle pat on the head. "Next time let me set the presents down before tackling me though ok?"
Sarah nodded eagerly and then looked down at the large green bag.
"Presents?"
Trisha beamed as she opened the bag and rummaged around. It took a second but she soon found one that had Sarah's name on it. The bunny held out a small box wrapped in bright blue wrapping paper. A golden ribbon was tied to the top to add the festive feel.
"Oh my gosh! For me?" Sarah asked, surprised that Trisha wasn't just making up a fun game.
Trisha nodded as she continued to skip into the living room, dragging the bag behind her.
She would stop in front of each of her friends and look inside the bag until she found a present with each of their names written on the wrapping.
"Trisha why didn't you say anything about presents?" Emily chuckled as she looked at the bright green wrapped box in her paws.
Trisha simply smirked as she tossed another box of the same size at Copper who caught it and stared at the dark green wrapping.
"We didn't get you anything," Delta mumbled as he gave Trisha a hesitant look.
"I didn't ask for anything," Trisha said simply as she held another gift out to Atom who looked at the box before standing up and hugging the small brown bunny in the festive apparel.
Once everyone had a present in their paws Trisha gave them a nod as she wiggled with excitement.
One by one they tore the gift wrapping from the small boxes and opened the lids.
As it turned out Trisha had gotten them all the same thing.
"Rocks?" Emily asked as she raised a brow.
"Moon rocks?" Sarah asked as she looked up at Trisha who shook her head.
"Turn them over," The brown doe said excitedly.
They all gave one another confused looks before reaching into the boxes and flipping the smoothed rocks over.
Each of their faces lit up.
While Trisha had left one side of the rock alone, the other had been painted with some kind of unique image.
"I love it," Emily laughed as she held up her rock which had a crudely drawn image of a fox carrying a brown bunny on her shoulders.
"Awwww," Copper said as she held up her own rock. An image of a pine tree and shield had been carefully drawn onto Copper's rock. "She remembered I liked the parks department logo at Camp Wewa."
Atom let out a series of excited wines as he began to shake excitedly in place. No one even had to guess what Trisha had drawn but Atom showed them anyways.
It was an ice cream cone.
While the others showed off the brightly colored rocks both Nick and Judy had turned a shade of bright red, both of them keeping their rocks from view.
When they first opened their presents they had though Trisha had made a mistake and given them the wrong ones.
Judy's rock was the image of a police shield. She had been so excited until she looked at it and read the small writing on the badge.
Officer Nick Wilde.
Judy blushed slightly as she showed Nick the rock asking if he had accidentally gotten hers instead.
"Kind of…," Nick said nervously, his ears laying flat on his head.
"Kind of?" Judy asked as she tilted her head.
It had taken some prompting but Judy finally managed to move Nick's paw.
Like Judy, he had also gotten a rock with a shield on it.
It was at that point she realized what Trisha had done.
She had given them the others badge as a sweet gesture.
Of course, Trisha couldn't resist the urge to tease them both and she had managed to do that perfectly.
The badge on Nick's rock made it perfectly clear what Trisha had intended.
Officer Judy Wilde.
Hey all,
Sorry for the super delay. Some personal stuff has come up and writing has kinda slowed to a crawl. I hope to have another chapter done for this mini-series soon but no promises.
Hope you enjoyed this super mushy chapter. The fluff is strong, especially at that end bit. That was all Trisha's idea I swear.
I hope you are all staying safe in these trying times.
Cya in Manta Bay!
