There is a reason I have all the chapters where Amy 'narrates?' in first person *smirks* which will be revealed in due time.

The snippet I posted 2 weeks ago of "the next chapter" isn't actually in this chapter since it got too long and I decided to split it in 2. That will be done some time around new years.

Also, could you guys please tell me if it seems like I'm rushing the Sonamy a bit too much? That would be greatly appreciated.

The chilly autumn breeze known to Station Square once again swept through the maple tree lined streets and alleyways of the city. It had been quite a relief for much of the residents of the Green Hills suburb, much like the inhabitants of the rest of the greater Station Square Metropolitan Area. The weather throughout the past year had always been more on the warmer side.

Even with the massive and sudden change in weather, everybody was still continuing to carry out their daily tasks as they normally would be. The adults went to work or did other things, and the children and youth were at school. For one girl though, she did nothing, not that she could do anything to begin with though. Unfortunately for her, the poor girl had gotten sick a week after Halloween, leaving her bed ridden and stuck at home for at least a few days.

"Mamãe!" I groaned at my mother, who was standing by the other end of the bed holding a box of pills and a glass filled with water. "I'm OKAY. I want to go to school! Cream and I-"

"Ai menina," the elder pink hedgehog sighed. "I still want you to stay at home okay? At least until you stop sneezing and coughing. Not to mention how cold it is outside. It's almost December!"

"Fine..." I gave up in the end, still not really wanting to stay at home all day. "Vou ficar a casa..."

Mom flashed me a smile. "I'll be going now. Call me if you need anything okay Rosadinha?!"

"Okay. Bye mom..."

Ugh. How many hours have I slept? I silently thought as I opened my eyes. I felt slightly frustrated, noticing that the light was still on. I honestly had no idea how I was still able to fall asleep with the room being that bright. I rolled over to face her the flower pot and clock placed on her nightstand, the large, red numbers of the clock flashing 13:00. Fuck.

I decided to switch the light off anyways, considering it was already the afternoon and the sun was piercing my eyes. I tried to visualize the class schedule in her head as I needed to decide a time to call Cream or Silver to ask them for any missed classwork and what not.

There was going to be a break soon, but it was too short. It was most likely that I would not be able to get all the information I needed in the 5-minute break. Still, I decided that I should get out of bed and do something productive. Laying on a mattress and staring up at the ceiling all day was absolutely not going to get me anywhere, most definitely not New Mobotropolis National University.

I went down to the kitchen to pour myself a much-needed glass of water and popped a few Halls inside my mouth to remedy the coughing. I was no longer coughing like I was that morning (Thank Chaos), but my throat was still quite sore. I decided to just rest in the living room until Rob came home at around just before 3 o'clock in case he needed anything.

A loud sound interrupted the silence in the house a few moments later before I could even get any more rest, which I desperately needed. I looked down at the table at my ringing phone and sighed, feeling annoyed and not really wanting to answer whoever was on the other end. After I noticed the familiar number on the screen a smile grew onto my muzzle and I tapped the green button happily.

"Hi Cream!" I spoke with as much enthusiasm as I could muster in an attempt to hide my current condition. "How are you?"

"I'm okay..." the rabbit replied. "Are you okay? Is your throat sore? I can sort of hear it".

I let out a sigh. Fucking hell. "Yes, Cream um, my throat is uh, kind of fucked at the moment..."

"Do you want to do a video call? Silver is also here right now. I think Sonic is here as well".

"Oh um..." I let out a short, hard cough. I could have sworn that I could feel a semi soft object come out of my throat with the violent motion, making me gag in disgust. I leapt off my mattress and sprinted down the hall to the toilet and with my eyes closed, I hurriedly spat the phlegm into the bowl before pulling the handle down and sprinting back to my room.

"It's fine Amy. I guess uh..." the girl on the other side of the phone paused for a moment. "Maybe we should wait until you uh, don't have a sore throat?"

No fucking shit Cream. "Yeah..." I raised my elbow and coughed into it. "I should be back at school tomorrow. I'm just going to pray to Chaos that drinking a shit load of lemon water saves my ass! You better pray for me too Cream!"

Cream giggled at my statement. "Well Rose, good luck. Get better soon!"

"Yeah, what she said!" Silver's voice echoed in the background. Bruh. "We love you Amy! No homo!"

"I will get better!" I somehow laughed back. How I had that mustered up, I had no clue. "Could you be so kind to tell my what you guys are doing at school right now?"

"No," the other girl coldly replied. "Just kidding Amy. We're not doing much actually. Just have your report on the history of the Master Emerald done by next week," Cream briefly stopped. "I think that's it. We're not doing anything for biology".

I quietly sighed in relief. At least I have one less class to worry about. "Well Cream, I should probably let my throat rest for a bit. I really wanted to go to school today but my mom just wouldn't let me until I wasn't sick!"

"I understand Amy. I'll see if I can come over later or tomorrow okay hon?"

"Thank you Cream. Bye!"

"Bye".

I hung the phone up and tilted down on the sofa, resting my head on one of the pillows. I rolled around for a bit as I swiped through the different applications on my phone. That actually got quite boring after just a few minutes. Once again, I began to feel sleepy and before long, I had dozed off once more.

"Rosadinha!" I stirred in my sleep and turned towards the back of the couch, facing away from the source of the voice.

"Amelia! Levanta-te!" I heard another voice shout.

I let out a growl of annoyance before suddenly jerking up from the couch in a mild fit of anger to see my mother and brother standing over me. I didn't even know I could do that. "I'M AWAKE YOU GUYS STOP YELLING!"

"Desculpe..." my brother twirled his fingers.

I stood up from the couch and huffed, weirdly enough. "Whatever Rob. I should probably be doing something more productive other than sleeping anyway".

"Oh yeah," my mom piped up. "That rabbit girl and the silver hedgehog from across the street came over earlier. They wanted to visit you but you were still sleeping. The rabbit also mentioned that you have a project or something?"

"Um hm". The expression that sat on my face remained unchanged from its previous blank state.

"Are you okay Amy?" Rob tugged on my sleeve, looking up at me with a concerned expression. "Are you still sick?"

"Rob I-, um I don't know actually," I managed out.

By the next morning, I was quite relieved to find out that phlegm WASN'T pouring out of my throat like a waterfall but still, I had a bit of a cough. I felt even happier when my mom finally said that I could go to school, with a pack of Halls that is.

Immediately as I stepped out the door, I felt… free in a way? I had been trapped at home for the last 24 hours after all, actually more like confined to my bed. It was for sure relieving though, to be able to breath in the fresh seaside air of Station Square.

To my surprise, I found Silver leaning against one of the posts that made up the gate to our complex as I walked in that direction. Maybe he was waiting for me so we could walk together? I wish someone else also did that though, not that I was complaining or anything. Walking with someone else was always more fun than walking by myself.

"Bom dia Amy!" the white hedgehog waved at me as he slipped his phone into his bag with the other hand.

I flashed the male a smile and jogged up to him, waving back as well. "Nice to see you again Silver!"

"It's great to have you back Amy," he nodded. "Even though you were only gone for a day, it really wasn't the same without you still."

"Well," I laughed. "Here I am again!"

"Should we go then?" Silver skipped ahead before turning back to face me.

I nodded and caught up to the white hedgehog. "Wait for me Silver!"

"Hurry up then slowpoke!"

I sat down in my seat at the back of Mr. Nack's class like I always did although this time, it felt different. In my 11 years of schooling, I had never, not even a single time, missed a day of school, and yesterday was the first (and hopefully the only) time I would ever do so.

My eyes moved over to a blue hedgehog walking through the threshold a brief moment after I sat down. I felt his eyes lock on mine with a small smile as he neared me, causing some heat to unintentionally rise to my cheeks. Luckily, it was brief and nobody noticed. Imagine if he actually saw that. Our friendship would be super awkward from now on...

"Good morning Sonic!" I cheerfully greeted him as he took his backpack off and sat down.

He flashed me another smile. "Good morning to you too Ames!"

Ames? "What?"

"Yeah, Ames," he said casually before pulling a notebook and a pen out from his bag. "It's a nickname. I like to have one for all my friends. So far, I have Ames for you and Pothead for Silver. Is that fine with you?"

Of course, that's fine Sonic... but then again, ack never mind. I mentally slapped myself as I chuckled at the nickname he gave the white hedgehog. Stop overthinking it. "Yeah..." I managed out. "That's fine. Although I feel obliged to give you a nickname now."

He calmly shook his head in response. "Don't feel that way Amy! Nickname or not, we're still friends, right?"

Friends. Just friends. Nothing more, right? "Right..."

"Anyway," the blue hedgehog continued. "I heard you were sick yesterday."

I nodded with a small cough. "I still kind of am."

"I can see that," he chuckled. "Get better soon okay Ames?"

Once again, I nodded. Before I replied, Mr. Nack walked in and put a stop to all further conversations. I popped a cough drop in my mouth and took a sip from my water bottle to ease the coughs. At least I still had many chances to talk to Sonic in the future.

Already being quite exhausted from the leftover sickness I still had, I really wanted to just hurry over to biology class and get the rest of the day over with. The moment Mr. Nack turned the projector off, I already had my bag packed and my jacket on, patiently sitting in my chair, just waiting for that bell to ring.

The blue hedgehog that was sitting next to me probably shared the same thoughts as me as I saw that he was already packing while Mr. Nack was still talking. I sort of felt bad for Mr. Nack though, he was going on and on in his story about, I really had no idea what it was about. Regardless, I still felt kind of bad.

As soon as I heard that bell go off, I instantly felt a sense of relief wash through my body. I didn't know if this was because I was sick or what but still, I hurried out of my seat and beelined straight for the door.

"Wait Amy!"

I turned around just before I was about to exit the classroom and came face to face with Sonic. "Yeah? What's up?" I replied casually.

I noticed that he looked a little nervous as he approached me. Perhaps this was a sign? Don't have false hope Amelia. It is only going to hurt you later.

He ran a hand through his back quills and scratched his neck. "You want to walk home together after school?"

My eyes widened. Am I hearing this for real right now? I thought to myself. He wants to walk home with you after school? Oh Chaos... that's going to be so- I stopped myself before I could think any further. Come on Amy, you're not in some cliché romantic drama where the guy you're in love with is just gonna sweep you off your feet and you guys get married and live a happily ever after, right? Or are you?

"You still there Amy?"

I blinked a few times to snap myself back. "Uh sure?"

He flashed me a smirk and patted me on the shoulder. "Alright Ames, I'll see you around. I'll wait for you in the back garden okay?"

Sonic was gone before I could even open my mouth to reply.

When I reached the garden behind the main building, I noticed that he still hadn't gotten there. So much for saying that he was going to wait for me. God. I can't believe that hedg-

"Ames!"

That scared the shit out of me.

I jumped back and turned around.

"WHO'S THERE!?" I shouted back. Even though I already knew that it was probably him, I still did that to make sure. I'm not trying to get kidnapped okay?!

A blue streak shot out from behind a bush and stopped right before it could come into contact with me and potentially knock me over. "There you are Amy! I've been waiting forever!"

"UGH!" I angrily stomped my foot on the concrete and clenched my fist. "Sonic, you could've ya know, not done that?"

The blue hedgehog continued to stand there with his arms crossed and a satisfied smirk on his face. "Why not huh Ames?" he leaned up into my face, almost like he was doing a kabedon on me, only the wall wasn't there, and whispered into my ear. "It's actually quite fun to mess with you."

"Sooooooniiiiiiiic!" I moaned in annoyance as I felt some heat rising to my cheeks.

"You coming or not Ames?"

I looked up and saw him standing a few meters from me now. Well, with his speed that wasn't a shock to me at all. "Yeah yeah," I plugged my earbuds in and clicked a random song in my playlist. Neglecting the presence of the blue hedgehog, I strode right past him towards the freshly laid asphalt path that led out to the main street.

"Come on!" Sonic caught up to me in another blue blur. "I didn't mean to piss you off!"

Still, I ignored him. I kept on facing forward and pretended as if he were not there.

"Amyyyyyy." this time, he tugged on my arm and tried to get me to reply. Not going to work Sonic!

My footsteps increased in speed, almost up to a slow jog. As expected, Sonic started to go faster as well, catching up to me.

"Please Ames?" he ran up in front of me and began walking backwards. "Talk to me, please?" His jade green eyes looked down in a state of regret like a naughty kid who had just gotten scolded by his mother.

"Fine," I grumbled, still refusing to make eye contact with him. "There, I talked to you Sonic. Will you stop nagging? It's getting kind of annoying."

"Sorry," the blue hedgehog walked back beside me. "About the nagging and um," he reached an arm behind his head and scratched his neck. "Ya know? Scaring you?"

A small sigh escaped my lips. "I guess I have to forgive you..." I grumbled.

"Yeah," Sonic smiled at me. "If a sorry isn't enough I can like get you a drink or something..."

"Sure," I smirked in response. "Who wouldn't want a free drink, am I right Sonic?" I gently punched his arm as I sassily replied.

He rolled his eyes. "Fine Amy. What drink do you want?"

I clapped my hands together in glee. "I want a um..." I paused for a moment to think of the most expensive drink at the cafe down the road, between the school and my house. If you got offered a free drink, this was obviously what you would do, right? The smirk that was previously plastered on my face twisted up into an evil one.

"Well, since it's almost Christmas and I like to be festive," I cutely smiled up at the blue hedgehog, much to his dismay. "I would like a Caramel Brulee latte with extra whip cream, extra car- actually extra everything cause ya know?"

"No I don't Amy," he deadpanned, clearly annoyed by my demand even though HE offered to get me a drink.

"You dummy!" I playfully slapped him. "You offered to pay for the drink so I'm taking advantage of that."

He groaned. "Well I do kinda owe you..."

"That's the spirit!"

I was relieved (very relieved actually), when Sonic and I got to the cafe and we found it moderately empty. I really wanted to just quickly get the drink and go home. I was still a little bit sick and I was already quite exhausted by the time the school day ended. A short wait later, it was finally my turn to place my order.

"Welcome to the Autarcus Cafe!" the pink echidna that stood behind the counter cheered. "What would- it's Amy, right?"

"Uh yeah..." Julie-Su. That was her name, I think. I had seen her around school a few times before with the popular kids. "Well, this is awkward," I muttered under my breath.

"Anyways, what would you like?" she pressed on.

"Yup uh, I'd like a Caramel Brulee latte with extra of all the syrups you have!"

"Okay Amy, that costs extra just so you know. Is that a problem?"

"No," with a grin on my face, I turned over to face the blue hedgehog beside me. "That won't be a problem, right Sonic?"

"他媽的..." he muttered something I couldn't understand, probably a swear word in another language. "No Ames, that isn't a problem."

"Okay then," Julie-Su tapped on the screen where she was taking the order a few times. "Would your boyfriend like anything?"

I sheepishly smiled. "I think there's a misunderstanding. We're not dating. I'm not his girlfriend, he isn't my boyfriend."

"Right..."

Sonic pulled his wallet out from his jacket pocket and pulled out some banknotes to count them. "Yeah, I think I have enough. Let me see..."

"Gingerbread cookies are on sale this week. 12 for M/20," the echidna offered. "Or just M/2.5 for 1."

"Right," he grumbled. "I'll have the same thing as Ames," he turned and faced me with a playful glare. "WITHOUT all the extra syrups. And uh, I guess I'll have 2 cookies too."

"Ok. Your total is M/32," Julie-Su tapped a few more times on the screen. "I'll call you guys up when it's ready okay?"

I smiled back at her before gently nudging Sonic, who slapped 3 M/10 notes and flipped 2 M/1 coins onto the counter passive aggressively.

A few minutes later, I heard Julie-Su calling my name and I made my way up to the counter with a smile.

"Here you go Amy!" she said as she handed me 2 drinks and a paper bag before leaning into my ear. "You sure you 2 aren't dating? Friends don't normally give each other nicknames like that..."

I felt some heat rush up to my cheeks as I shook my head.

"Alright then, suit yourself. Have a nice day Amy," she waved at Sonic. "You too Sonic!"

"Bye!"

We quickly left the cafe and continued on our way back to the street we both lived on. As I closed the door behind me, I handed Sonic the cup that wasn't marked with anything and the paper bag. He received the food with a smile and took a sip, sighing in satisfaction.

"You can have one of the cookies Ames," he said, handing me the bag after taking the other cookie out.

I muttered a 'thanks' before I sipped the drink. "Mmm, this is good! It tastes like bubble tea!"

"That's weird," Sonic commented before sipping his own drink. "Must have been all those weird ass syrups you added."

"Hey!" I playfully slapped him. "Don't shit on my syrups!"

"I think I have a right to since I was the one who paid for them!"

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever." It surprised me how fast we were walking. We had already arrived at the complex I lived in by the time I zoned back in. "We're at my house already."

"Is that Silver?" Sonic pointed to a figure standing outside the gate, scrolling on his phone.

I glanced in the same direction and squinted. Curse my shitty eyesight. "I think it is." I began walking over towards the gate. "Yeah." I nodded.

"Silver!" Sonic shouted to get the figure's attention.

He jumped back and looked around frantically, making Sonic and I laugh.

"Oh it's just you guys," the white hedgehog sighed in relief. "About time Rosadinha..."

"Don't call me that Silver!"

He rolled his eyes. "Whatever Amy. Do you mind if I come in for a bit? Bunnie is at the mall with Sally and Nicole and my dumb ass left my keys at home."

I nodded and turned to Sonic. "You wanna come in for a bit as well?" I saw him give me a thumbs up in response.

"Alright, let's go."

I unlocked the gate and began walking towards my townhouse before I was pulled back by Silver. "What?" I raised an eyebrow at the white hedgehog.

He smirked at me, muttering a 'it's fine' at me before calling out to Sonic. "Lí sin kiânn. Guá teh kah Amy kóng tsit-ê ũe."

I didn't understand what Silver said but Sonic nodded and walked on ahead. Silver turned to me, still wearing the same mischievous smirk on his face. "How was your date with him?"

"It wasn't a date!" I hissed. I swear sometimes Silver is just trying to push all my buttons.

"Then why did you guys go to a cafe together?"

"He had to owe me something for scaring the shit out of me."

Silver let out a small chuckle. "I would've loved to see that."

I playfully slapped the white hedgehog on the back of the head. "Shut the fuck up or I'll leave you outside until Bunnie comes home at I have no fucking clue when!"

"Jeez Amy, such a buzzkill..."
