"Where the hell are we?" Draco asked, pulling his thick winter cloak around his shoulders as watched Harry spread a blanket on the ground.
"I don't know," Harry said, trying to hide a chuckle as he turned to Draco. "I was hoping that you would be able to tell me."
Hang on," Draco replied quickly looking around them. "What do you mean you don't know? I think at the very least one of us should know where we are, don't you?"
Draco could his annoyance levels rising as Harry lost his composure and burst out into gales of laughter. He didn't understand what was so funny about his boyfriend and he getting lost in the woods. Especially not the Forbidden Forest of all places to be lost in.
"Why are you laughing? This isn't funny, Harry…"
"I know where we are," Harry said, pointing towards a place not too far off down the hill they'd just climbed. "That is where we ran into Quirrelmort during our first trip into the Forbidden Forest. Do you remember?"
Draco suppressed a shudder at the memory of the being they had originally thought of as a creature, which turned out to be their teacher, bending over the dead unicorn drinking its blood. He nodded.
"Why exactly are we looking down upon that spot?" he asked, watching as Harry set up a telescope that he'd nicked from the Astronomy tower earlier in the day. "And why did you nick a telescope for?"
Harry smiled as he motioned for Draco to sit upon the navy blue blanket that Mrs. Weasley had knitted him for his birthday. He may have broken up with Ginny not that long ago but they'd parted ways on friendly terms. Plus Mrs. Weasley considered him one of her children whether he was with Ginny or not. She'd even told Harry that personally when he'd come over during the summer between what would have been their eighth year and going out into the working world.
"I heard someone talking about a brace of falling stars that were supposed to be coming this way tonight," Harry said, patting the ground next to him. "That's why we're here and why I took the telescope."
"But if it's a falling star shouldn't we be able to see it without a telescope?" Draco had always been told by his mother that falling stars were quite seeable without a looking device.
"They are," Harry said, pulling Draco down into his arms. "But I told Ron and Hermione that we were doing some Astronomy homework."
"So you had to make it look believable?"
Harry nodded putting his arms around Draco and getting comfortable on the blanket. "I even went as far as to pack a picnic dinner for us," Harry said, motioning towards the food that Do….no. Winky had packed for them.
They lapsed into a gentle quietness as the night wore. The sandwiches and pumpkin pasties slowly but surely disappearing between the two of them.
"You know, you never answered my question about why this spot?" Draco mused a few minutes after the last sandwich was gone. "Why exactly did you choose this spot to have our falling star date on?"
"I don't rightly know," Harry murmured, looking down into the grey eyes of the man that he was so madly in love with. "I suppose I wanted to make a good memory for us in the Forbidden Forest. To replace the old one."
Draco nodded as he let the words sink into his head. Making a new memory to surpass the trama of the old one was a good idea. He didn't want to remember the Forbidden Forest as the place where he saw true evil. He wanted to remember the Forbidden Forest for something else.
Then he saw it. Just out of the corner of his eye. A twinkle bit of light up in the sky, shooting across it leaving a trail of light behind in its wake. Draco looked up to see Harry's eye widen in pure joy.
"Make a wish," Harry exclaimed, happiness filling his voice as he closed his eyes.
Draco looked up and as he made his wish, he realized something. His wish had already come true.
I hope you all enjoyed Wish Upon a Star as much as I enjoyed writing it.
