Comment: I loved your response for the last chapter! Thank you guys! I hope you also enjoy this little snippet from what I imagine to be their future. This was also written long before the final episode was aired. We knew it wouldn't be easy for them when Robin leaves the country, but we always imagined them to be able to make it. This is for all the LDR-couples out there :) Looking forward to your feedback! xx
Barney knew Robin would go abroad. He knew she was gonna travel the world reporting about worldwide issues, and it made him incredibly proud of her.
Several years into their marriage, however, he'd still struggle with saying goodbye at the airport. Whether she'd go somewhere relatively close as California or somewhere far as Asia wouldn't matter. He'd always pull her close, whispering, "I'll miss you."
"It'll only be three days/weeks/months," she'd reply, hugging him just as tightly.
"Text me when you're there." – "I'll call, yeah?"
When she'd let go, he'd feel himself struggle, resisting the urge to run after her.
