Death was so much calmer than Naruto's life had ever been. There is no better way on how to explain dying other than absolute hell on earth. How does one explain the excruciating pain of having your chakra pulled out of your body? Your life being taken away from you; your breath, your loved ones, your soul? He had failed; himself, his friends, his parents, and everyone.
He lost. That's the only way he could put it. But nothing mattered now. It was dark and quiet. It was peaceful. It was nice.
He opened his eyes and just stared into the open void. He could only let out a chuckle before tears had started to form. "I'm sorry" were the only words he could muster. The pain of failing had stung more than anything he had ever endured. He floated in the empty void and closed his eyes. He had to accept his defeat. He had to accept the Infinite Tsukuyomi. No more people would have to feel pain. No mother would have to endure losing her child again. No more pain, no more death.
He resigned himself to his fate. He closed his eyes and could feel himself fadeaway.
"No."
Naruto fluttered his eyes open, he twisted his head around in any direction. No one. He swear he could hear a voice.
That's when the entity appeared before him. The figure was much more massive than him. It had a lavender skin tone with white hair, horns protruding from its head and eyes that pierced into your soul. It was dressed in a white kimono that was opened to show the being's chest. In one hand it caried a set of prayer beads, in the other a tanto.
Naruto's breath was taken from him. He could feel the fear creep up his body as he stared into the being's eyes. Naruto blinked before he trying to stutter out a question. "W-who are you?" he stuttered out. You could feel the amount of chakra in the air that the being resonated.
"I have many names young Uzumaki. None may be of use to you, but we are not here to discuss names now are we? You failed in your journey."
Naruto started to laugh.
"Is something funny mortal?"
"Does it matter anymore?" He said while wiping tears away from his eyes. "Yes, I failed, yes I died. I can't do anything about it anymore." He sunk his head in defeat before more tears streamed down his face.
The being in front him chuckled to himself. "All mortals seem to just give up upon death. Why don't you take a good look upon who you are speaking to?"
He gazed upon the being avoiding its piercing stare. Nothing rang out to him that was familiar. "Am I supposed to know who you are?"
"You absolute excuse of a mortal. You are speaking to your God of Death. I control what you see around you. If I didn't need you I would strip you of your soul and not blink twice about it. But I need you?" The Shinigami had yelled at him
Naruto puzzled had blinked in confusion. "Why the hell would you need me? For fucks sake I'm dead!"
"What use is a God of Death if everyone dies? A God over nothing? I would live for an eternity only to eventually fade away. Gods need purpose to young mortal. That fool who cast that cursed jutsu ruins everything. You weren't destined to die, you child of prophecy.
"And yet I did." He whispered to himself.
"I need you to rectify your mistake. A second chance if you will. A God can do so many things but I have never tried this before."
Hope. Naruto had understood the importance of hope. His confidence was in shatters, but Naruto could understand hope. Doubt however made his way into his mind. He had never doubted himself, but after death how could he not?
"And if I fail?" he spoke.
The Shinigami had a smile creep over his lips. "You can't. There are no third chances. You get one shot at rebirth. You have the hope of God thrust upon you mortal. Do not fuck it up."
Can he go through it again? All that training. All the anguish and pain. His heart spoke before his brain could form the words.
"Okay, how do we do this?"
"Good. Close your eyes"
Naruto did such and felt the being float closer. "What time will I be spent back to?
"How should I know? I've never done this before?"
Naruto tried to open his eyes but a aura of chakra came over him and he disappeared.
His fluttered open and the most intense headache washed over him. He groaned as he slowly got up. Muscle memory took control and he slowly stumbled over to his bathroom. He tripped before hastily making way toward the toilet and emptying his guts. He spat whatever remains were in his mouth, clumsily stood up and leaned over the sink. Turning on the water and splashing the water against his face was heaven. He cupped his hand underneath the cool water and sucked some into his mouth swishing it all around. He spat out and then looked himself into mirror and all the color retreated from his face.
There he was. A baby face genin again. And then he yelled.
WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FUCK ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!"
AN: Oh, look another reincarnation fic. Original am I right? Relax this isn't going to turn into one of those cliché shits. No villagers are going to try to kill Naruto every single time, no forced naruhina. Just a poor man who has some wild ideas.
On a side note, I'm more curious on some things. Some of my pet peeves with fanfics are the constant random Japanese phrasing. Like putting the last name first andrandom Japanese sayings. Do you guys prefer jutsus being written in their native language. Obviously, it sounds better but just for reading sakes is it better? If you guys have any suggestions comments or recommendations drop a comment. - Kuco
