Now that the conflict with Rath and the Underworld is over, Sonic and his friends, along with the Chaotix, Team RWBY and JNPR arrive at Dr. Robotnik's base in Green Hill Zone. Sonic takes a deep breath and smiles.
Ruby: What's wrong, Sonic?
Sonic: I've been waiting two years for payback. It's finally time.
Yang: You must be really pumped now that you're back in action.
Sonic: I sure am.
Weiss: You shouldn't get too cocky, Sonic. Robotnik will be ready for you.
Knuckles: Oh relax. We beat this guy like a million times. He never wins.
Blake: Even so, he's still a dangerous man. But I know we'll win.
Ren: It's natural that we'll win. After all, we're very strong.
Nora: True dat!
Espio: Whatever Eggman has in store, we'll be ready.
Sonic: With this many friends here, the job gets easier.
Everyone giggles.
Sonic: Alright! Let's wrap this up fast!
They break down the door into Eggman's base. Once they do, they are met by Buzz Bombers and Egg Robos.
Sonic: Hey guys! Lovely party, isn't it?
As Sonic prepares his spin dash, Pyrrha uses her semblance to take down the robots and destroy them, releasing the animals inside.
Sonic: Woah, what?
Vector: What in the heck?!
Jaune: Good job, Pyrrha.
Tails: What was that?
Pyrrha: That was my semblance. I have the power to control metal objects.
Tails: Polarity? Huh, that kind of makes you like the super villain, Magneto.
Pyrrha: Yeah, something like that. Except I'm not evil.
Vector: Come on, don't go ruining the fun for us!
Pyrrha: Sorry, but it was a big swarm. I didn't want everyone overwhelmed.
Charmy: We could have had them, though!
Sonic: Let's keep going!
Meanwhile, at Robotnik's main office.
Dr. Robotnik: Those blasted punks! Breaking down my door like that! That wasn't cheap you know!
Cinder: Oh relax. Should we activate the turrets?
Dr. Robotnik: No. The plan's far from done. Instead, let them come to us. I have something special for that blue nuisance, since he's the biggest threat to our plan.
Back with the heroes...
Tails: Eggman's office is just up ahead!
Mighty: But something feels off. He's making it too easy.
Sonic: I'll say! If it's easy, then easy is how it'll go! Look out Eggman!
The blue hero busts the door open.
Sonic: Here comes Sonic!
As Sonic and his friends come in, Robotnik and Cinder reveal themselves.
Dr. Robotnik: Welcome back, Sonic! Now I heard rumors from my gaming community that you appeared in some realistic game from the Japanese servers? Is that where you've been all this time?
Sonic: It wasn't really a game, but yeah, it's on the Japanese servers.
Dr. Robotnik: Bet it was a rehash of that infamous VRMMO made by Akihiko Kayaba. Didn't take you 2 years to beat, did it?
Sonic: For me, yeah. But for here, it's been a week. Anyway, I see you got a new friend.
Ruby: Cinder...
Cinder: Long time to see, kids.
Tails: You know her, Ruby?
Ruby: We do. And let me tell you, you have no idea what kind of a monster she is.
Weiss: Salem's no longer around and she's still at it.
Cinder: We're preparing something very special, indeed.
Dr. Robotnik: So special that none of you would even dream of beating us with! Especially Sonic! Mwahahahahahaha!
Sonic: Yeah yeah. It's gonna be the same every time. You whip up a plan, I trash you, and then you jump in anger on a pile of busted robot parts saying "I hate that hedgehog!" Sounds better when you say it.
Dr. Robotnik: You cocky little rat! You'll eat those words!
Mighty: You're gonna be the one doing the eating, Eggs Benedict Arnold!
Dr. Robotnik: Grrrr!
Cinder: Easy now. You'll have your chance to destroy him. Once the plan is ready.
Blake: What are you plotting?
Dr. Robotnik: If we told you, it would spoil the plan completely! Since Sonic is the biggest threat here, I'm gonna send him away for a little while.
Robotnik pushes a button and reveals the Phantom Ruby through a glass pain inside a machine.
Sonic: That's the...
Tails: The Phantom Ruby?! You still have it?!
Dr. Robotnik: See you later, Sonic!
He activates the ruby and it creates a portal, sucking in the matter.
Sonic: Woah!
Ren: Everybody hang on to something!
The heroes all hold on for their lives. Tails slips off.
Tails: Ahhh!
Sonic: I got you!
Sonic grabs his best friends arm.
Tails: Thanks Sonic!
And then, the hedgehog starts to slip.
Sonic: Uh oh!
Pyrrha: Hang on! I'm coming!
Pyrrha attempts to reach for Sonic and Tails, but she was too late. The duo gets sucked into the portal, and it closes.
Pyrrha: No!
Amy: Sonic! Tails!
Knuckles: Where did the portal take them?! Where are they?!
Dr. Robotnik: Sonic and Tails have both been sent to another dimension. That is just to slow them down.
Weiss: You'll pay!
Weiss charges at them, but Cinder shoots a fireball at her, knocking her back.
Ruby: Weiss! Are you okay?
Weiss: Yeah. Just barely a scratch.
Cinder: Don't worry. They're not dead. We don't know what's going to happen to them in that other dimension, but I'm sure they'll be fine.
Ray: Like we'd even know that!
Dr. Robotnik: Why don't you keep these delinquents occupied for a little bit, Cinder.
Cinder: With pleasure.
She summons two flaming dual blades.
Pyrrha: I'll take this one.
Jaune: P-Pyrrha! Hang on! It's too dangerous to do it alone!
Pyrrha: It's okay. I'll be fine.
Cinder: I'll happily fight you again, Pyrrha Nikos. Let's see how strong you are now?
Pyrrha: You'll be surprised.
They both get in their fighting stances, ready for battle.
Ruby: You can do it, Pyrrha!
Yang: Yeah! You got this!
Nora: Give em hell!
Pyrrha: Thanks.
After a brief moment of silence, the two start swinging blades at each other. Pyrrha blocks Cinder's strikes with her shield. After one parry, her xiphon transforms into a lance, and she tosses it at her. Fortunately for Cinder, she was able to dodge the strike. She dodges again as Pyrrha pulls back her weapon with her semblance.
Cinder: You seemed to have improved since the last time we fought.
Pyrrha: I'm nowhere near as strong as the Black Swordsman, that's for sure.
Cinder: Black Swordsman? Never heard of him, but I can tell that you're right.
They continue swinging blades at each other, back and forth. Their strikes seem to be going even faster now. As the two clash swords, Pyrrha swings her shield at Cinder's face, knocking her back down on the ground.
Cinder: Not bad.
Dr. Robotnik: I think that you've had your fun, Miss Fall. Now let's send these people on their way.
Eggman pushes a button and opens up a chute underneath the heroes. They all fall in.
Everyone: AHHHHHHHH!
Cinder: Nice going.
Dr. Robotnik: Just sending them on their way. Nothing special.
Cinder: When do you think Sonic will come back?
Dr. Robotnik: Not sure, but hopefully not too soon. We have a lot of work to do.
Outside the base, a chute opens, and the heroes fall out of it, onto the ground.
Ruby: Is everyone okay?
Knuckles: We're good.
Vector: All set.
Jaune: We're fine.
Espio: Cinder definitely seemed like a worthy opponent.
Yang: You can say that again. You were great, Pyrrha!
Charmy: I knew you could do it!
Pyrrha: It was nothing. But Sonic and Tails.
Mighty: We'll find a way to get them back, somehow. But for now, we should live to fight another day. Let's just head back for now and try to come up with a plan.
Everyone: Right!
