"I can't stay here my entire life," I said to myself as I laid curled up on the floor. The curtains were blocking the sunlight, making the room dimly lit. The floor was cold, making me shiver slightly. I was gazing at the wall, contemplating my life choices.
It has been somewhere between three weeks since I blocked out the outside world. I left everything behind, in the hope that I could feel safer. But instead, I was slowly burning away from the inside. It's only a matter of time before I disappear from the earth.
I was in a never-ending loop. I would eat whatever is left, then I would curl up in a corner and wait till I fall asleep. My mental health was slowly deteriorating with every second spent here. I have ruined my physical shape over time.
I brought my head away from my paws, looking around the dark filled room. Garbage spread over the floor. Shattered glass laid over the ground, and there were some berries in one of the corners.
"What even is the difference if I leave or stay? No one will come after me if I leave, and no one will try to find me if I die here." I never wanted this to happen to me, but fear took over my actions.
I pushed myself off the floor, my body being stiff from laying on a hard surface for so long. Taking a leg off the ground and leaning it forward. Lossing one of the supports almost made me collapse to the ground, but I hurriedly pushed the paw down to stabilize my balance.
Having weakening my body over time made it hard to move. I continued forward towards the bathroom door. Pushing the door open, revealing the interior of the bathroom. On the right was a small shower with curtains around it. On the left were the toilet and the counter.
I walked towards the counter, looking in the mirror. I only saw a faded form in the mirror. I looked to my left, where a light switch was on the wall. I brought my paw towards it but didn't push on it yet.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes before putting force towards the switch. I heard a click, and the light above me started flickering. I waited a while before I gently opened my eyes. I could barely see anything from the glow filling the room. I squinted my eyes, letting them slowly get used to the brightness.
The intensity reduced, and I opened my eyes a little more. I focused on the mirror again, seeing myself from a new angle. The mirror was a bit dusty, but it was enough for me to see myself. I stared at myself for a long time, noticing how much weight I had lost from not eating properly. I could see that my eyes were slightly more red than normal.
I forced myself away from the reflection, not wanting to look at my refection anymore. I walked away from the counter and stood in the doorway, looking in the darkness of my bedroom.
I looked around the room, trying to spot the other door that leed out of this place. The light from the bathroom illuminated the bedroom a little, giving me a more clear vision over the area. I walked into the bedroom, trying to look for the only exit from this place.
I found the door on the opposite wall of the bathroom. I would've gone towards it and walk away from the room if it was that easy, but of course, it wasn't.
When I detached myself from the outside world, I pushed a bookcase in front of the door, forcing myself to stay here. It was a bad choice, but I couldn't care less then.
I nervously walked towards the side of the bookcase. I took a deep breath as I placed both of my paws on the material and used my hind legs to push forward. The furniture didn't want to budge a centimeter. I tried shifting my stance, trying to put as much of my force into moving it.
I continued changing my position, but nothing worked, the bookcase stood at the same place as I left it. I don't know if it was my muscles not working, or my mind preventing me. This room was the only place I felt protected. This room was the only place where bad things never happened.
The more I thought about how safe it was here, the more I wanted to stay. I shook my head, trying not to think about staying here anymore. I stood up and looked around the object, trying to find a weak spot of some sort. I didn't find any way to move the bookcase to either side, so that left me with one option.
I went to the front of the bookcase and brought my mouth towards one of the platforms. I clamped down on it, not being able to penetrate the material. I pushed my head backward while I slowly backed away with my legs. I could feel it following my motions.
I felt that the weight shifted sides, and I released the furniture and quickly ran to the side. I stopped when I was in the clear and turned around to witness the action.
The bookcase picked up its speed as it fell and crashed towards the floor. A loud crash echoed around the room when it made contact with the ground. I could feel the floor below me vibrate, making me tremble a bit.
The noise died down, and the room was filled with silence again. I looked over the destruction I created. Pieces of different material splattered over the floor. Everything that stood on it was spread out on the floor. I could feel the adrenaline going through me as I looked over the room. I calmed myself as I looked at the door.
The door was now exposed, light coming from the cracks. I could feel my nervousness rise when I started walking towards the door. My heart was pulsating faster with every step I took. My mind kept telling me to stay in this room. But I ignored everything, pushing myself to break free from this cycle. I reached the door and gently opened it. New light entered the room as the door opened more.
I hesitantly began to walk out of my room, entering a familiar environment. I could feel the temperature drop when I walked out of the bedroom. I took a deep breath, feeling the fresh smell that I had missed over a long period. My nervousness was slowly fading away.
I looked around my new surroundings, seeing that I was standing in a living room. I looked around the room, spotting the stairs on the other side.
I slowly made my way over to the stairs, glancing on every door I walked by. I stopped on a rather specific door, staring at it over a long time before I continued my way to the stairs.
Walking down the stairs, I found myself in a new room. To my right was the living room, and a doorway towards the kitchen was in front of me. Towards my left was the front door located.
The faster I am out of here, the faster I will recover.
I kept telling myself that things will be better soon, trying to encourage myself. I felt a new sensation take over my body as I walked to the hall. It felt like I was getting nervous again, but the feeling felt different. It was soothing to feel something else rather than being anxious. I accepted the feeling and continued to the door.
I reached the barrier that was blocking me from the outside world and wasted no time to open it. The door flung open, and the sun's beams immediately attacked me. It was uncomfortable the first few moments, but the feeling faded away and was replaced with a more relaxed sensation. It was nice to feel natural sunlight after being locked away in a dark room.
I squinted my eyes and walked out of the house, not even bothering to lock it. Bright colors everywhere, making my eyes hurt a bit. I kept my eyes half-open until the intensity of the colors started to decrease. I opened my eyes more normally and realized that the sun was disappearing over the city.
Centimeter by centimeter, the sun dissolved with the far away buildings. I looked back towards the house, reconsider going back inside and wait until the sun come back. "No, I don't want to live in a world so cold anymore."
I walked away from the house, trying to find a new place where I belong.
Thick silence and darkness took over the city as I ventured through. The only source of light being from the light posts near the pavement. I kept glancing around the corners, having my guard up in case anyone was near me.
I could feel my heart pounding against my chest with every step I take. My mind racing with worried images that could happen to me. The cold air making me quiver.
I continued walking until where two roads crossed each other. I looked towards the left where I saw the outskirts of the city far away.
My eyes were glued onto the edge of the town. I haven't once left this town, being too scared to do it. But now is the time where I leave this place.
I was about to go towards the 'exit' until I spotted something else down the road. In the middle of the road was a few rings hanging in the air. Red orbs that were looking around the texture of the town. The light posts illuminating its sleek jet black fur over the creature's body.
I felt my heart stop as I noticed that it was walking towards me. I jerked my head away from the opening. I took some small steps backward until fear took over my actions as I turned around and started running the same direction I came.
I didn't care how long it would take for me to hide, as long as I don't meet them. I looked around the street, not finding any suitable place to hide. Time was slowly running out for me.
I started panting softly, and I knew that I couldn't run much further. I looked around more urgently and decided to run around the next corner. I picked up my pace and put all my effort into my body to make in time.
I slowed down when I reached the end of the building and turned right. I leaned on the wall for extra support as I tried catching my breath. I could feel my legs stiffen up from the run, not having any physical training for almost a month.
I waited for a little while before I hesitantly peeked out from the corner, trying to see if he followed me. My eyes scanned over the area but didn't see him anywhere.
I decided to wait a few moments before I start moving again, but as I was calming myself down, I felt that someone was watching me. I turned around to see a purple ball of collected energy charging towards me.
I didn't have time to react before it collided with me. It exploded on impact, sending me out towards the streets. I landed on my side, getting scraped from the asphalt from the road. I let out a low whimper as my movement stopped. Pain surging through my body as I laid on the road, not being able to move. My muscles stiffen up from the impact.
I heard some steps increasing in volume, indicating that he was approaching me. I knew that I couldn't do anything now but wait for him to threaten me.
I yelped when I felt a paw push my head down further in the asphalt. Claws poking dangerously against my head. He stood above me with one of his paws in my face and the other beside it.
Black fur covered the leg. I looked further up the body, expecting to see a ring of light, but there was no light there. Gray fur spread over the part where the circle was supposed to be.
More force was put into the paw, making me let out a tone of discomfort. I tried shifting around, but that only brought more pain into the mix.
"Well, if it isn't the outcast." Just hearing that voice again made me frightened. Chuckles started emerging around me as I started shivering. I could sense his smirk growing from my reactions. More shadows appeared, surrounding me.
"It has been so long since we last saw each other." He continued, reminding me why I stayed home over a long period. My body started shivering when the memories surfaced from our last encounter, his twisted smile stuck in my mind.
"you weren't about to leave without saying goodbye, right?" He said as he moved his mouth closer towards my ear, reducing his voice. I yelped again when the claws brushed over my skin. I tried shaking my head 'no' but, only a few movements came through. I heard him chuckling from my response.
The strength from the paw was reduced and started trailing down from my head to my shoulders. "How about we refreshen your memory." I didn't have time to comprehend what he said before I felt a claw, sinking slowly into my skin. I winced in pain when it penetrated my body. I gritted my teeth, trying to decrease my painful cries. It went deeper and deeper, making me go slightly light-headed.
"You're not supposed to be here,"
I'm not supposed to be here.
"You should have stayed away."
I should have stayed away.
"Wild pokémons don't belong here."
Wild po... I don't belong here.
The claw left my body, and blood started to rise from the gash, staining my fur with its crimson red color. My eyes began to lose focus as I watched as the group started walking away from me, leaving me in the dust.
I tried moving my legs, but they were locked in place, not wanting to budge. I observed the streets, seeing nothing but darkness along the road. With no hope left inside, I laid my head down to the asphalt and let out a long exhale.
All I wanted was a little bit of the good life.
???
I held my breath as I hid behind a dumpster in an alleyway, careful to not give away my position. There was a dead end behind me, making it difficult if someone decides to enter the alley.
I heard a few steps increasing in volume, quickly becoming louder with every passing second. I lowered my stand, trying to take as little of space as possible.
There were some puddles spread out across the alleyway from yesterday's rain. Unfortunately for me, a puddle was placed right under me. Water covered my paws, making it awkward to stay low near the water, but it was the only cover I could find in the time.
I broke my focus from my miserable position and started focusing on the steps again. From the sounds of the steps, they are going to pass by soon.
The light post from the outside of the alleyway shone into the alley, giving it a faint light into the dark depth. A few shadows appeared on the ground where the glow beamed from, indicating that they were passing by the entrance.
The shadows swiftly disappeared, and the sound died down after a while. I let out a long exhale when I was in the clear. I rose from my position, bones crackling a bit when I moved them. I leaned against the wall for extra support as I calmed myself down.
I took a few breaths before I moved away from the dumpster. I cautiously walked to the opening and looked around the streets. Glancing both ways, seeing that it was empty.
I gathered all of my courage and walked away from my hiding spot. My paws were soaked from the water, making me shiver with the cold air around me. I walked out into the streets again and continued on my way to the other side of the city.
It didn't take long for me to return to the same place where the two roads intersected. Looking down on the asphalt, I noticed that there was a hint of red steps on the road. I looked further up the road, seeing were it originated from.
A sprawled out body laid motionless on the edge of the road. Blood dripping from its wound, gathering up beneath it. The crimson liquid slowly trailing down on the road.
I felt bad for the pokémon. Not being able to defend itself and just lay there, taking all the pain. I took a glance at my surroundings before I went over to investigate a bit more on the pokémon.
The closer I got to it, the more visible the pokémon became. Its leaf-like features around its body, the creamy fur coating it, with a hint of brown on the paws.
I looked around the Leafeon's body, trying to find any wounds. The first noticeable thing was the fresh gash in its shoulder. Pumping out the life of this creature. 'shit' I thought as I put my paw on the open wound and put some pressure on it, trying to slow down the process as I looked around for any suitable place. I didn't want to be out in the open when I know that there are pokémon lurking in the night.
The blood continued leaking out from the wound as I held my paw on it. I tried putting my second foreleg on the gash, but the blood kept coming out. I knew that my paws wouldn't cut it and that I needed to find something else to treat the wound.
I removed my paws and carefully bit down on the flesh over the neck, not receiving any reaction from the pokémon. 'that's not a good sign,' I said to myself as I started dragging the limp body towards the alleyway. The smell of blood entering my nose, making me grimace.
The journey back to the alley was difficult, but after some maneuvers, I finally reached the entrance of the alley. Using the last of my strength to get the leafeon into the alleyway. I carefully laid it beside the wall, having its back towards the wall.
I immediately started searching for anything that could absorb the blood. I wildly searched through the dumpster, digging through the garbage. I took a quick glance towards the leafeon, seeing that I don't have much time left.
I searched around more desperately until I spotted a white fabric laying between the garbage. I took it in my mouth and started tugging at it. Slowly the whole fabric came to lose, and I pulled it away from the garbage and out from the dumpster.
I went over to the leafeon and put the material towards its wound. Blood spread over the white cloth, staining it with its crimson red color. I shifted the fabric around the wound, trying to absorb the blood around it.
I held the fabric against the gash for a long time before I carefully took it away. The flowing blood had decreased to only a few drops leaving the wound. I went over to a puddle and started washing away the blood.
The water slowly gained color as I tried scrubbing away the blood from it. The smell of blood only grew thicker as time went on, making me gag a bit.
I swirled the cloth under the water, trying to get as much of the blood out from it. After cleaning the fabric as much as I can, I went back to the Leafeon and continued my work.
There was a small trail of blood leaking out from the wound. I gently cleaned it away with the cloth before I started scrubbing away the dried blood on the fur.
It was very ineffective as the cloth was already somewhat covered in blood, making it hard to remove the stained blood. I pushed harder on the fur, slowly dissolving the hardened liquid.
I laid down the cloth as I finished scrubbing the blood around the cut. I let out a deep sigh when I saw that there wasn't any more blood dripping from the wound. I ripped off a clean part from the material and laid it against the red area on the shoulder.
I took a glance out towards the streets, seeing that it was still night and that I could make it back to the cave in time before the sun starts to rise. I was about to venture back until I felt a strange sensation inside my body. It rose in my head before the feeling started to spread over my body, making me shiver. I slowly lost all of my energy in my legs.
I lost my balance and collapsed down on the concrete, landing on my side. I let out a groan as I made contact with the ground. My eyes started to lose focus as I struggled to stand up again. I lost all of my senses as I slumped down to the ground. Everything started to blacken out until I fell unconscious...
