???

I felt a weird feeling surrounding my body. I tried moving around to get away from the wet embrace, but anywhere I moved, it followed me. I noticed that I wasn't lying on a hard surface anymore. Instead, It felt like I was weightless. I lazily opened my right eye to investigate the situation.

As I slowly opened my eyelid, I felt water touching on my exposed eye. I shut my eye as it started to sting badly. I pulled up my paw to rub against the eye, trying to reduce the tingle. I waited until the feeling was gone before I tried again. I squinted my eye opened again, slowly getting used to the sensation.

Everything was dark, making it hard to see where I am. I observed my surroundings, but I saw only more darkness. I tried moving my head around, but I quickly noticed how hard it was to turn it. I saw a little bit of light shining through the darkness. I looked further up to where it originated.

The darkness slowly faded into a blue colour as I observed further up. Panic rose as I noticed that I was underwater. I instinctively tried to swim up to the surface, but instead of going up, I started sinking down.

A shadow swiftly appeared over the surface and disturbed the light, but as fast it came, it disappeared.

With every second, the surface got further and further away from me. I couldn't do anything but watch as the last bit of hope drained away right before my eyes.

The darkness started to engulf me as I kept sinking, Light fading away from existence as darkness enclosed around me. I could feel the water's pressure rising, making me wince uncomfortably under the tension.

I felt my throat stifling up as I began to run out of oxygen. All my senses started to grow weak, making my body go limp. I lost all control over my muscles, making my mouth open up.

Water started to flood into my body, filling me up inside. I couldn't do anything but lay there in agony as I edge closer towards death. With no hope left, I accepted my fate. I lost all of my senses as I fell unconscious.

...

...

...

I started to cough violently as my senses came back to me, Spluttering out the water that had invaded my throat. I instinctively brought my paw towards my maw as I continued to cough.

I slowed down my coughing as the water left my body. I took some deep breath, clearing my throat from any remains.

I lazily opened my eyes, being slightly blinded from the sun's light. I searched over the area, noticing that I was still in the alleyway from the shape and material on the buildings. I looked downwards and saw that I was lying in a puddle. It amused me that I was dreaming about drowning while laying in a small pool of water.

I broke away from my thoughts as I dragged my legs closer towards my body before I used my strength to pull myself away from the puddle. Water started to fall from me as I disconnected myself from the liquid. The cold air around me, making me quiver.

I stepped away from the puddle and started to shake off the water that soaked up in my fur. While I shook off the water, I heard a stifled groan behind me. I halted my actions as I turned around towards the end of the alleyway.

I saw the Leafeon lying on the concrete near the corner, breathing heavily. Blood smeared on the ground around it. I looked towards the cloth that laid on the wound, seeing that it was red from all the blood.

I went over to the body and carefully removed the fabric from the flesh. 'Hopefully, it didn't get infected,' I thought to myself, as I inspected the wound. The gash in its shoulder was revealing, the red and black colour standing out from the rest of the fur.

I gingerly picked up the cloth and went over to the dumpster. I lifted the black lid before I tossed the fabric into the rest of the garbage. As I closed the cover above the dumpster, I heard another groan coming from the Leafeon.

I watched as the Leafeon gently awoke from its slumber. I watched as its eyes scanned over the area, clearly confused about why it was in an alleyway.

I didn't know what to do right now. Should I wait, or should I make my appearance known?

I didn't have time to reflect on my choices before the leafeon locked eyes with me. Its eyes went wide when it took note of my presence. Panic plastered over the face as its breathing became faster. I saw as it tried to push itself further away from me. "P-Please, don't hurt me."

Hearing the desperation from the Leafeon made me feel sorry for it. Tears started to swell in the eyes as the Leafeon hit the back wall, not being able to get further away. It slumped down on the ground, holding its paws over the head.

I started to feel guilty for not helping the unfortunate pokémon when it got attacked. Instead, I ran away and hid in an alleyway. If the pokémon weren't on the brink of death, Then I would have probably have left it.

"Why would I hurt you?" I asked, getting more and more concerned over the pokémon. A few moments went by before the sobbing slowly died down. It slowly opened its eyes to watch me. Thick silence hanged in the air as we stared into each other's eyes.

The leafeon looked puzzled over my question, not sure how to react. It wiped away the moisture from its eyes before focusing on me again. "R-Really?" It said.

I could hear its voice better now, being able to identify that it was a female. I nodded to her question, trying to look as non-threatening I could. She looked dumbfounded, but after a while, she started to calm down. Her breathing slowed down, and her body grew less tense.

Time went, and the silence between us continued over an uncomfortably long period. I decided to break the silence after a while. "Can you stand?" I asked as I eyed the wound on her shoulder.

I watched as she carefully shifted her body, bringing her legs under her weight. She took a shaky breath before she focused her strength to lift her body. I could sense that she was struggling with her right foreleg, and I knew that she couldn't support much longer.

As I thought, her front leg gave up on her, and she fell to the ground. She landed on her right side, groaning in pain. I hurriedly moved closer towards the Leafeon to support her.

I knew that I couldn't take away the pain from her, but I could help her stand at lest. I walked over to her right side and inspected the cut. The action disturbed the healing process, opening up the wound a bit.

I gently placed both of my paws on her foreleg, feeling her tense up from my touch. "Try again," I said as I began to use my strength to lift her front half off the ground. I noticed that it was surprisingly easy to lift her weight.

She soon followed my motion, bringing the rest of her frame into a standing position. I gently let go of her as she leaned on the wall for the extra support. She was still wobbly, but at least she could stand on her own.

I knew that she needed to rest more, but this was not a suitable place to stay. "We should get you somewhere safe," I suggested, not wanting to stay here any longer. She gave a small nod of agreement as she began to lean away from the wall.

She began to walk forward slowly, clearly not used to walk with only three legs. I stood near the entrance, waiting for her. I watched as she gradually made her way towards me, but yet again, I saw her struggling.

I noticed that her walking pattern took a lot of energy from her. The energy she needed to maintain herself.

I began to think of different things I could do to help her, but I always came to the same solution. I took a deep breath as I walked towards her. She noticed that I approached her and stopped. I could still see a faint fear hiding behind her eyes. I didn't know why she was so anxious about everything, but that didn't matter now.

I reached her right side and turned around, standing next to each other and facing the same direction. I began to think of the best way to word this without sounding weird. "You can lean on me."

She anxiously tilted her body towards mine, our fur brushing against each other.

I waited for her to get into a stable position before we headed towards the entrance. Our walking wasn't synchronized, making it hard to balance. We gingerly walked out towards the streets, the light from the sun increasing as we exited from the shelter.

We cautiously walked back to the scene of the crime. I could feel her tense up from the sight of the sprawled out blood, coating the asphalt. "Well, it was here I found you," I said to her as we stopped near the area. Watching the spot on the ground, I could still see the sight of her bleeding out, burned into my mind forever.

She didn't say anything instead, she only stared at the blood. I could feel her start shivering next to me. "Do you know where you live?" I said, trying to distract her from the gore. She snapped away from her thoughts and stared at me for a while.

She gave me a weak 'yes' as she pointed with her right foreleg towards a specific direction. I took a last glance at the road. The blood was going to attract pokémons attention, but we didn't have time to clean it away. We began to get into a walking motion again, heading towards her residence.

As time went on, I felt her lean more towards me, getting more comfortable. A few Pokémons started to appear in the streets, some giving us an unsettling stare. The buildings started to shrink in size as she directs us further away from the centre of the town. We didn't talk to each other, only walking in silence.

My nervous rose as more pokémons got out in the streets. My wild instincts were telling me to run away from everyone, but I couldn't because... because...

I was left dumbfounded as I couldn't find an explanation for my actions. If it would have been any other pokémon in the wild, then I would have left. But what made me do the things that I did to this pokémon. 'Because... she couldn't defend herself from the group,' I told myself. But deep down, I could feel an energy forcing me to stay close to this pokémon.

Looking over to the Leafeon, I could see the wound in the corner of my eye. I didn't have any information about the pokémons that caused that to happen. "Hey... do you remember what happened to you?" I asked quietly enough for her to hear me. I didn't want to tell her that I saw what happened, and instead let her choose if she wanted to inform me.

She opened her mouth to answer me, but quickly closed it after a while. I didn't get an explanation from her. Instead, she only leaned harder on me. I didn't want to push her boundaries, so I stayed silent after that.

The rest of the walk was short as we arrived at our destination. "Is this your home?" I asked for clarification as I looked around the building. It was two-story-tall, A front yard with a pathway heading towards the door and bushes covering the bottom of the house.

"Yeah... Its mine," she said as we stood in front of the building. With the goal in eyesight, I helped her with the last bit of steps. I gently placed my paw on the handle before pressing down. The door slowly opened, revealing the interior of the place.

I assisted her inside while I glanced around the place, looking for a suitable place for her to rest. We walked away from the first room, entering an open area. To the right was a hallway with two doors opposing each other.

To the left of the large room was some furniture. I saw one that resembled a bench, but instead of wood, it was some kind of fabric covering it. There was also some kind of barrier on the sides and back, keeping you from falling off.

I didn't see anything else that could substitute the 'bench', so I decided to drop her there. The warmth between our bodies shattered as we disconnected from each other's touch, making me feel cold.

She got up on the furniture with my assistant, and let out a sigh of satisfaction as she laid down flat on her stomach, burying her face in the fabric. I could see that she was exhausted from walking. With no one to lean on, my centre of gravity was disturbed, making me almost collapse with my tired muscles. My body wanted to tilt to the left after doing it over a long time.

"Hey..."

I perked up my ears as I heard a quiet noise. I turned my attention towards the Leafeon, seeing that she was watching me. Her breathing was heavy as she continued staring down on me over a long period. I stood there and waited expectantly for her to continue.

"W-What's your name?" she said, barely audible. I was confused about why she wanted to know my name. We don't know each other, and I'm not even supposed to be here in the first place.

Looking at the Leafeon, I didn't see any threat in her, only desperation. I didn't see any harm by telling my name, "Kalen... My name is Kalen." I told her simply. For the first time, I saw a weak smile creep up on her dispirited face.

"Skye... Mines Skye." She said after a while. I watched as she gently laid down her head on the fabric, slowly drifting away into unconscious. Her breathing calmed down as she entered a deep sleep. I stood there, unsure of what to do now. I don't know much from this stranger, Making it awkward to be in the same residence as them.

I wanted to leave this place as soon as I could, but I couldn't leave her when she is in that state. From the outside, it was only the wound making her stance weaker. But it felt like it was more than that. When we had our first encounter, she expected me to hurt her. To make her suffer. I could see the fear she had in her when she saw me.

I could even see the genuine confusion when I refused to hurt her. It seemed like it was the first time for her to hear that.

I don't know what has happened in her past, but her actions revealed a small portion of it. It was clear that she had some kind of haunting past, bringing her unforgettable memories to replay in her mind.

I looked over towards Skye, seeing how she would shudder occasionally. 'Leaving her would only break her soul even more.' I thought to myself as I watched her sleeping. With my decision to stay a little bit longer, I looked for a suitable place to rest.

Skye

I awoke as my senses came back to me. I could feel my head aching slightly, making me grunt in discomfort. I tried moving around, but it gave me a slight pain to go through my shoulder. I let out a small whimper as I relaxed my body, trying to decrease the pain from my flesh.

I waited until the pain had substituted to nothing before I started examining where I was. I felt some kind of hard fabric under my size. I dragged my paw on it, feeling its texture. I quickly identified it as a couch.

I slowly opened my eyes, revealing the layout of this place. My vision was hazy, making it hard to observe where I was. I tried focusing my eyes, causing shapes to appear more clearly in my sight. I soon noticed that I was in the living room of my house. I was confused about why I was here until the memories started to surface.

After the attack, I woke up in an alleyway. I couldn't think properly and operated on fear. My vision was blurry, so I couldn't see who it was. I tried pushing away from the creature, but I couldn't feel my body. So I pleaded for mercy instead.

Seconds turned into minutes with silence, but nothing happened. 'Why would I hurt you.' When I heard those words, I didn't know how to react. I first thought it some kind of twisted joke, but I heard genuine concern behind those lips. I knew that I didn't have many options then, so I decided to put my trust in the blurry figure.

I tried to remember what happened after that, but my memories were corrupted, leaving an empty hole in my mind. The throbbing in my head only increased as I tried to recall my past events.

I decided to ignore the concealed memories and focus on my current health. I tried to move my forelegs under my weight, feeling how tough it was to contract my muscles. I push my forepaws down on the fabric, bringing my front end upward, resulting in a sitting position.

I let out a weak groan as I sat up on the couch, feeling lightheaded from the lack of energy inside of me. I gave my body some time to get settled in the new position before I started looking around the room.

Everything was in the same place as it was before I left, which wasn't surprising. But I found a thing that stood out from the rest of the room. Lying down on a small rug was an Umbreon napping away. Curled up and serene.

Unwanted memories surfaced, making fear gradually rise inside of me. I could feel my legs starting to quiver as I sat there, unable to move. I watched in terror as the Umbreon slowly stirred awake.

Our eyes met each other, which made my blood run cold. I tried pushing away, but I didn't have the strength inside of me to move my limbs. 'Why is he here?' I thought to myself as I watched him push himself off the ground. His expression slowly shifted into a concerned look.

"How are you feeling?"

I was left in more confusion when I couldn't recognize the voice. It didn't sound like him, only resembled him. I tried to grasp what was going on, but my mind wasn't cooperating with me.

Looking at the Umbreon, I saw a faint glow emitting from him. Glancing at the source of the light, I noticed that the tone of the colour was brighter than I remembered. It was enough evidence for me to notice that this wasn't him.

I took some time to steady my breathing, calming myself down to a mild level. "Are... you okay?" I focused on the voice, hearing that it was indeed male. Looking at the Umbreon, I noticed that he had approached me. Standing only one meter away from each other, I could see him more sharply.

I looked into his eyes, getting lost in the red abyss that stretched over his sights, black pupils floating around in the ocean of red. I continued staring into his depths until I saw a glimpse of a yellow flash. I was about to question myself before I noticed how long I had been staring at him. I shook myself out of my thoughts, feeling ashamed of myself.

I took some time to build up my courage, only to let out a small response. "I-I'm fine." I struggled to push out my vocals from my dry throat, making it barely audible for him to hear. I could feel my throat burning on the inside, growing in intensity with every passing moment.

I knew that I didn't convince him of my weak response. I heard him shuffle around before I felt an object land on my forelegs. Looking down on the item, I saw that it was a sitrus berry. "I found this earlier, and I thought you might want to have it considering your wound hasn't improved since I found you."

'Since I found you...' The words repeated inside of my head, making me freeze in place. Distinctive emotions surging through me. My brain could hardly process what he meant. I slowly brought my gaze from the berry and looked up towards the Umbreon.

The realisation hit me like a brick getting thrown at me. This stranger that I have never met before, has helped me more than what some people could have ever achieved. Staring into his eyes, I felt comforted. Something about this pokémon was different than the others. Never before has anyone bothered to take notice of my presence. I didn't have any strength to show my emotion, but I was smiling on the inside.

The burning in my throat reminded me of my problems. I tried to use my paws to lift the berry to my mouth, but I could feel myself slowly losing my centre of gravity. I regained stability as I used my forelegs to gain control over my motion. I could feel my weak muscles that were holding me straight, slowly losing its energy inside.

I carefully lowered my body on the couch, feeling my fur gently brush against the cushions. I let out a sigh of satisfaction as I laid down on the couch. I could feel my muscles gently twitch with every movement I made.

I used one of my paws to pull the berry closer to my lips before I bit down on it. Liquid spattered from the berry, coating my lips. I didn't care about my manners as it felt too good to eat something. I swallowed the liquid that entered my mouth, feeling it flow down my throat smoothly. I ate up the rest of the food, chunk by chunk. I didn't know how hungry I was until I finished eating the berry. I could feel my stomach already craving another one.

"Who... Who are you." I asked after a while, wanting to know more about this pokémon. The strange sensation I was receiving from being near this pokémon was strangely soothing.

I heard him mumble a bit before he started speaking more clearly. "Well... Like I said before, my name is Kalen and..." He slowed down on the last part, getting lost in his words. I waited for him to continue, but he remained silent.

While he was quiet, I focused on what he said. 'before...' With the energy assistance from the berry, I could feel my head becoming more active. The haziness in my mind slowly started to loosen up, revealing small pieces of my concealed memories.

I recalled when I was lying on the couch and arranged myself to speak. I was grateful for him helping me back home, and I wanted to know more about this pokémon, so I asked for his name.

I was to caught up in my memories that I didn't notice that he was telling me about his story. "-Then a storm came, and I tried to seek safety. I didn't find any shelter, a-and I assume I fell unconscious on the ground for some reason... I later woke up in a cave with no memory and a new appearance with my body. I aimlessly walked around the cave before I found the exit, I saw the town, and I walked arou- Straight towards it for help."

I could sense his uncertainty growing every time he spoke a new sentence. Even though I didn't hear the opening of the story, I still understood his problem. Something happened in that storm leading him to lose his memory, and now he's lost.

I began to wonder if he has a temporarily home, but it didn't sound like he had one. I wanted to pay back everything he has done for me, so I gave him the only thing I could provide. "you... you can s-stay here until you find a way back home," I gently told him.

He was surprised by my unexpected offer, gazing at me over a long period. I was starting to get worried when he didn't say anything. I didn't want to lose him after what he had done. He took his gaze off me and stared at the floor, contemplating the decision.

After a while, he asked me if it would disturb me, but the thought of him staying in my house didn't bother me. I hastily denied his comment.

I was nervous that he would deny it as the silence continued between us. Every passing moment made me feel more concerned that he wasn't going to accept.

"sure..."

I could sense warmth spreading through my body when he accepted my offer. I gave him a humble smile as appreciation from his decision.

'someone who cares...'
