The cafeteria is packed, the line is long, and most tables are occupied by students who are hungrily eating their lunch. At one of the tables, sat a girl who is reading a book while eating grapes from her tray next to her.
The cover of her book says How to know if a guy is in to you She usually doesn't read these type of books but, she wants to know of the signs a boy who likes you would show.
She hopes that she'll go to the dance with her crush Simon. Just thinking about him makes her shyly blush.
"And then I told Alvin, oh yes I'll be your date for the dance"
Suddenly she hears a familiar voice getting close so she looks up from her book to see her sisters sitting down with their trays in hands.
"Hey Brittany, Eleanor"
"Hey Jeanette, have you seen the boys?"
Jeanette shakes her head
"No but they should be here any minute"
Her sisters nod and begin to eat their lunch.
Jeanette continues to look at her book however her mind is somewhere else. She starts to daydream, she imagines her and Simon romantically dancing together. She smiles and imagines Simon telling her I love you Jean.
His blue eyes, his smile and that charming personality, those always make the girl melt.
"Hello, earth to Jeanette"
Her thoughts were interrupted by Brittany who's waving hand in front of her sisters face.
"Huh yes Brittany?"
"I asked you what are you reading?"
Jeanette blushes and looks at her book
"Um... It's a book about the solar system"
Jeanette forces a smile and hopes Brittany believes the lie. Her sisters glance at each other.
"Uh... Jeanette that book you have there doesn't look like it's one of yours"
Jeanette doesn't plan on telling her that she borrowed the book from the library so she nervously says
"No it is mine..."
"Really? Let me see it"
"What, no hey Brittany"
Her eldest sister snatched the book from her hands. Jeanette tries to reach for it but then gives up. She blushes and clasps her hands and waits for Brittany to ask her questions.
Brittany flips the book and looks at the cover before smirking
"The solar system huh, hey Ellie take a look at this"
Brittany hands the book to Eleanor who looks at it and smiles.
Jeanette's cheeks get red but she says nothing.
"Jeanette why are you reading how to know if a guy is in to you? Which guy stole your heart?"
Jeanette shyly looks at her lap
"I... I'm reading it because I got bored of reading the same old books. What's wrong with reading that type of book anyway?"
Eleanor hands the book back to Brittany who says
"Dear sister, there's nothing wrong with reading that but, I do wanna know which boy stole your heart? What's his name?"
"Brittany don't force her to tell you if she doesn't want to tell you"
Eleanor told Brittany before looking at Jeanette who's still looking at her lap.
"Jeanette sweetie, don't listen to her. I'm sure we'll meet whoever you like some day"
Jeanette smiles at her and nods however Brittany crosses her arms and says
"I need to know who my sister likes. I just wanna make sure it isn't a guy who'll hurt her"
"Don't worry Brittany, you and Ellie know the boy I like. He's my knight in shining armor"
Brittany gives her a surprised look
"Really? Tell me his-"
"Hello ladies"
Brittany was cut off by Alvin who is followed by his brothers. The boys sit across the girls with their lunch trays. Now it's awkwardly silent.
Jeanette panics and quickly whispers to Brittany to hand her back the book before Simon could see it.
Brittany smirks and hands her the book back.
Jeanette puts it in her backpack before looking at Simon who was staring at her. The two blush but say nothing.
"Hello boys, are you all excited for this friday night?"
"Hell yeah, what about you girls?"
Alvin replied as he winks at Brittany who winks back at him.
"Oh yes, I already bought my dress I'll wear for the dance Alvie"
"Me too, I think you'll like my dress Theo"
Brittany and Eleanor replied.
Theodore blushes and sees Eleanor blowing kisses at him. She doesn't care that the others who chuckle see her doing this.
Everyone then looks at Jeanette and then at Simon who haven't said word.
Alvin whispers to Simon and nods at him while Brittany gives Jeanette a questioning look.
Simon sighs and nervously calls his crush.
"Jeanette?"
His crush smiles and anticipates the question. Finally, will Simon ask her?
"Yes Simon?"
"Could you..."
"Yes?"
"Could you... "
"Uh huh?"
"Could you... Pass me that napkin right there? I have a ketchup stain on my sweater"
Alvin mentally slaps himself before giving a are you serious look to Simon. Even Theodore is thinking like Alvin.
Simon just keeps chickening out. His fear of rejection is really bad. Meanwhile Brittany and Eleanor look at each other suspiciously.
They know that Simon has a crush on their sister... Wait a minute. Is he the guy that stoled their sisters heart? Is he the guy Jeanette likes?
They then look at Jeanette to see her looking disappointed.
The brunette forces a smile and says
"Oh sure Simon, here you go"
She grabs the clean napkin that's close to her and hands it to her crush. Only her sisters could hear the disappointment in her voice.
This tells them that Simon is the boy that their sister likes.
Alvin clears his throat and begins talking about his plans for after school. Everyone but Simon and Jeanette talk about their plans to.
About half an hour later...
"RRIIIIINNNNNG"
The bell rung so now it's time for them to go to their last class. Alvin has chemistry with Eleanor, and Theodore has drama class with Brittany.
Simon has art but none of his brothers or the Chipettes have that class. Jeanette has PE but she to doesn't have any siblings in that class.
Anyway the Sevilles and the Millers throw away their trays and make their way to their classes.
One of them however, doesn't make their way to class. Simon approaches Jeanette and gently grabs her arm.
His crush turns around is surprised to see him.
"Simon? What's wrong?"
"Hey... Jean um I... Can I ask you something?"
Jeanette smiles and nods
"Yes ask away"
"Will you... Will you..."
"Yes? Go on, I won't bite you"
She giggles
"Will you go to the val-"
"Hey there greetings"
Simon was interrupted by a guy who he dislikes, a guy who has turned up with his three jock buddies. That's right, Adrian had approached them and he has his eyes on Jeanette.
"Hey Adrian, how are you doing today?"
He smirks and says
"Ah yes, my beautiful Jeanette. I am doing well and you?"
"I am good, and thanks for the compliment although I really don't think I'm beautiful"
Jeanette chuckles before looking back at Simon to see him looking annoyed.
"You are beautiful J..."
"Hey you are beautiful..."
Simon and Adrian glare at each other. They complimented Jeanette at the same time. They give each other hateful looks. Jeanette can feel the tension around her, this feeling makes her uncomfortable.
She hates it when people fight especially if those people are her friends.
Also she's surprised to realize that Simon and Adrian dislike each other. She worriedly looks between them and prevents a fire that could start any second.
"Thanks you two... um what were you gonna ask me Simon?"
She still hopes that he'll ask her the question she's been wanting to hear however before Simon could speak, Adrian speaks
"I think he should ask whatever question he has later. Jeanette, right now you and I need to head to class. Unlike Simon here, we care about our educations"
Suddenly his jock friends get between Jeanette and Simon. Adrian puts an arm around Jeanette's shoulders.
The girl sighs and looks back at Simon
"I'll see you later Simon... I'm sorry"
Adrian takes Jeanette with him while Simon watches them leave. He so baldly wanted to rip Adrian's arm off of Jeanette but he knows that the jocks in front of him would intervene if he tries to do that.
The jocks smirk at Simon before walking away.
Simon blinks a few times as he remembers what Jeanette told him. "I'll see you later Simon... I'm sorry"
He sighs and makes his way to class. His enemy Adrian is Jeanette's second close best friend.
It bothers Simon that Adrian has PE, he knows that Adrian will have plenty of time to ask Jeanette to be his date for this Friday nights valentines dance.
An hour later
The bell finally had rang so most students head home while some stay after school for after school activities. The Seville's and the Miller's are outside at the entrance waiting for Simon and Jeanette to come out. The two are still inside of the school.
In the meantime with Simon, he's waiting for Jeanette outside of the doors to the gym. He's breathing hard and mumbling to himself. He's practicing his line.
"Jeanette, will you be my date for the valentines dance?"
"No no, I think I sound funny"
"Okay let's try again, Jeanette let me be your valentines date"
"Ugh, no. Stupid Simon you sound like you're commanding her to be your date for the dance"
Simon sighs and keeps mumbling. He hadn't realized that he's been waiting there for almost fifteen minutes. The hallways are empty and some teachers have left the building.
All of a sudden, someone comes out of the girls locker room behind him.
"Simon? What are you doing here?"
Simon's blood gets cold when hearing that voice. He smells a familiar perfume that comes from behind him. He turns and sees Jeanette giving him a questioning look.
He smiles and tells her
"Oh, hey Jeanette, I was waiting for you... I wanted to walk with you and... Chat"
Jeanette just stares at him for a few seconds before smiling.
"Aww how sweet, thanks. Let's go"
Jeanette clings to his arm and begins to walk with him.
"Sorry for taking long, I was in the girls locker room taking a shower"
Simon chuckles and forgives her.
"Anyway what was the question you wanted to ask me back at the cafeteria?"
Simon blushes and asks
"Oh yes... Do you wanna"
"Yes?"
"Do you wanna... Bemydateforthedance?"
Simon smiles nervously and waits for her answer, his heart beats so rapidly and he begins to sweat.
Jeanette stares at Simon for almost a minute before soon giving him her answer
"I would love to... But I'm sorry I can't because Adrian asked me first. But I honestly wanted to go with you but..."
Simon feels his heart being stabbed many times. The flood of tears could come out any second.
"But what?"
"You're not attracted to me... Soo I'm giving Adrian a chance..."
Simon could feel his tears stinging his eyes. He gives her a confused look.
"Jeanette, who told you I'm not attracted to you? What makes you think I don't like you?"
Jeanette reaches in to her pocket and takes out her phone. She goes to her messages and shows him one of the chats.
"Did you forget? You sent me these messages about an hour ago when I was in gym class with Adrian"
Simon's jaw drops... He sees texts he doesn't remember sending. Someone must've hacked his messaging account. Whoever did it, sent messages to Adrian saying that Simon isn't attracted to Jeanette and that Adrian can have her.
Oh snap, who hacked Simon's account? Simon can't go to the dance with Jeanette because of some person. What will he do?" Please review:)
