Chapter 2 Clown Prince of Koopas

Lemmy waited in the wings. The lights of the stage were shut off, casting the curtains and lip of the stage into darkness. This was a benefit to him, as two Koopa Troopas were hauling out the props that he was going to use. Lemmy giggled uncontrollably. This was going to be amazing. He had practiced this act for over two weeks! He was definitely going to blow the audience away.

Just as he was thinking about this, the headlights came on and Ludwig walked out onto the stage. The audience applauded upon seeing the blue haired composer. The cheers made Lemmy's heart soar, and they weren't even for him! Ludwig held up his hands to quiet down the applause.

"Thank you! I greatly appreciate you all coming out here!" He smiled. "The symphony I composed explores the dangers of technology. It tells a story that I hope that we will all take to heart in these modern times. We all need to let go of our phones and take the time to appreciate the arts. And speaking of the arts..." His smile grew brighter. "The opening act I have chosen for this Symphony explores the art of physical comedy. Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce you to the Clown Prince of Koopas and my younger brother, Lemonade Koopa!"

With that, Ludwig walked off the stage and went into the audience. The crowd applauded when they saw the littlest Koopaling. Lemmy bounced like a kangaroo out into the spotlight. He waved his arms with gusto, beamed so enthusiastically that he stretched out his gums. Everyone cheered and laughed. When the laughter died down, Lemmy took a bow and began walking back off stage. When he got to the edge, he "remembered" that he needed to do a Clown act, and he ran back out. This caused most of the audience to chuckle.

Lemmy felt his heart flutter. The art of doing a clown act was a very tricky art to pull off. Most of the comedy revolved around slapstick; therefore, clowns rarely if ever talked. While Lemmy did appreciate verbal humor, sometimes it was the sight of someone doing something funny that got him to laugh the hardest.

Anyway, the spotlight came on to reveal a table right in the middle of the stage. On it was one of the most scrumptious cakes that had ever been made. It was three layers high, and coated with rainbow frosting. Silver fondant decorated the edges. Lemmy bounced up and down in excitement and ran up to the cake. Unfortunately, there was one problem.

There were no chairs.

Lemmy looked at the table in feigned confusion. He scratched his head, he looked around for anything that he could possibly use. His eyes fell upon the audience. He spotted the chairs that the audience was sitting on. A smile spread across his face and he lept off the stage. He bumbled over to Ludwig, who was sitting in the front row. The spotlight shined on the duo as Lemmy started pantomiming.

"What's that?" Ludwig asked. "Do you want my chair?"

Lemmy bobbed his head up and down like an excited puppy dog. Ludwig smiled and shook his head.

"I'm sorry, but you can't have this chair. It's bolted to the floor."

Lemmy's face fell down so far that it practically crashed into the floor. He crossed his arms and put on a pouty expression. This got the audience to laugh. Thankfully, Ludwig (who was in on the act) had a solution.

"Why don't you go look in your box of tools, Lemmy?"

Another spotlight shined onto the stage. Lemmy beamed and rushed back up. The audience laughed at his struggle to climb back onto the lip of the stage. Lemmy growled and took his brother's hand. Together, they managed to get back onto he stage. Lemmy started to search through his box. He ultimately pulled out a book.

Lemmy scratched his head. He knocked on the book like a door, turned it upside down, and tried shaking it before he managed to get it open. He flipped through it before handing it over to Ludwig. He started pantomiming like crazy.

"You want me to read it?" Lemmy nodded and bounced up and down. The audience laughed at the sound of his horn-like shoes landing on the floor. Ludwig held up the book and started to read.

"How to build a chair. Step one: get a hammer."

Lemmy reached into his box and pulled out a live skunk. The audience laughed as Lemmy threw the skunk away and got a hammer.

"Step two: get some wood."

Lemmy looked around. He looked to the left. He looked to the right. Then he looked down at the stage. The wooden stage. With a goofy smile, Lemmy got down and tried to pull the wooden board out of the ground. The audience laughed at Lemmy's exaggerated struggle. When that didn't work, he tried to use the hammer. This only exacerbated the problem, as it drove the board further into the ground. The audience laughed as Lemmy started to pantomime a temper tantrum. The audience's giggling more than made up for his silent screams.

As he was pantomiming a temper tantrum, Lemmy got an idea. He slowly stopped and started to get back up. His smile returned to his face as he got the book back from Ludwig.

"What are you doing, Lems? Do you have an idea?" Lemmy nodded enthusiastically. He pulled out the only other item that was in his box: his circus ball. He rolled over to the table and placed it right in front of the cake. Using his balance, he got onto it. Lemmy tried to stick his fist into the cake, but the ball seemed to have taken on a mind of its own. It rolled to the left. It teetered to the right. He went all the way over to the left side of the stage. Pretending he was losing his balance, he went down the ramp that connected the stage to the rest of the auditorium. The audience laughed as he rolled his ball around with wobbly legs and a goofy expression.

Finally, Lemmy went up the ramp on the right side of the stage. He giggled and grinned when he saw that the cake was approaching. He reached out his hands, as if he was ready to give it a big embrace. Unfortunately, the skunk from earlier got in front of the ball. Lemmy tripped over the skunk and went flying straight into the cake. The audience laughed as Lemmy wiggled his legs, trying to get out of the humongous baked good. Ludwig let out an exaggerated gasp.

"Oh no!" he went over and grabbed hold of Lemmy's legs. He tugged on them, pulling his brother out. Frosting and cake dripped down the sides of his head.

"Lemmy, are you alright?" asked Ludwig. In response to this, Lemmy just licked his fingers. Once he was done, he cast the biggest smile ever up to Ludwig.

"Mm. Tasty."

The audience laughed as Lemmy stood up. Ludwig rolled his eyes and smiled as he too stood up. Lemmy ran to the center of the stage, gave a big bow, and bolted back into the wings. He could still hear the audience applauding as he went back into his dressing room to get himself cleaned up.

AN: I hope you guys liked this chapter. It was a little difficult to write, as I did not have the use of verbal humor to fall back on. Thankfully, I had Ludwig to provide the scene with a little context via his dialogue.

Just a reminder, I had set up a poll on my profile. If you guys could take it, I would really appreciate it. :)
