Chapter 3: Garfield and Odie's big mistake

A fat, stripy orange tabby cat and a skinny, yellow, spotty dog called Garfield and Odie entered the office of Jon Arbuckle. "Hello fellas, I need you to do a job for me, can you do that?" Asked Jon. Garfield and Odie nodded enthusiastically and then looked on in horror as Jon lugged in a large pile of mail. "All of this mail is to go to Aladdin at his toy factory." Odie just stood rooted to the spot, staring up at the pile as Garfield attempted to sneak away. Jon grabbed Garfield by the nip of his neck. "Hold on Garfield, this mail is very important. It is the requests for gifts from the whole kingdom. This includes your request for a heated cat basket. Can you and Odie deliver them for me?" Garfield then had a change of heart and nodded eagerly alongside Odie. "That's my boys, and if you deliver these, I will give you a nice, steaming pot of lasagne when you get back." Garfield and Odie hugged Jon around his legs. "Good boys." Jon said, "now let's load these letters into the sled."

Garfield and Odie got dressed into their warm clothes. Garfield was wearing a green bobble hat with white reindeers patterned into the wool; a thick, puffy purple coat with a red scarf, grey tracksuit bottoms and large black snow boots. Odie was wearing a thin purple and orange snow hat with a pom pom on the top; a thin red coat with a sheep skin layer and wolf fur around the sleeves; brown tracksuit bottoms and green working boots. They then proceeded to help Jon load the letters into the sled. They then climbed into the sled with Odie driving and Garfield as the passenger. Jon waved as his pets sped off into the distance and then got to work making the lasagne.

"Just think Garfield a nice juicy lasagne when we get back." Said Odie, making conversation.

"Yep, I can hardly wait. I get excited just thinking about it." Replied Garfield. "Oh Oa." Garfield panicked, noticing his surroundings. His mouth went wiggly and his eyes wide. "Crossing Maria's bridge, it always gives me the creeps." He whined.

"Me too." Agreed Odie as the two animals glided across the ice bridge. Garfield began to relax and look at the rail speeding by, and then he noticed Odie was going too fast. "Woah slow down Odie, you're going too fast." He stated as the sled started to sway sideways.

"Somethings wrong." Yapped Odie. The sled then skidded from a pot hole in Maria's bridge and sped out of control. The sled skidded in a zig zag over the ice bridge and then leapt into the air to Garfield and Odie's terrified screams. Finally, smash! Shatter! Clatter! The sled hit Maria's ice-sculptures rupturing each and every one as Garfield and Odie were expelled from the sled, landing head first in a large snow drift. They struggled their way out before landing on their backsides in the snow, shaking the snow rapidly from their small bodies. Garfield looked at the wrecked ice garden. "Oh no, look what we did to Queen Maria's garden." He said, looking in terror as the last sculpture gave way. Odie looked on, just as petrified. "Maybe we should leave a note." Suggested Garfield.

"You numskull, then she'll know we're the ones who did it!" Barked Odie.

Garfield rapidly felt his head. "Where's my hat?" He asked panicked.

Odie had already run off into the distance, panicked. "Never mind that, let's get out of here!" Odie yelled. Garfield had no choice but to follow Odie hatless, across the bridge to Aladdin for help.
