So! my good friend Nemui and I love to spend idle hours thinking out stories. This is usually in a 'let's throw things at a wall and see what sticks' and rarely bother actually writing down a coherent narrative, but sometimes we go a bit further.

This is one of those. Double insert in DxD with some crossover elements. We will be taking turns writing a chapter each. It's not a hard rule though, we'll adapt as narrative requires.

Not sure how frequent updates will be. Nemui is pretty fired up atm, but I'm a bit... busy.

000 - Disciplining natural disasters (Nemui's turn)

"[La Armure Éternelle]" I state firmly, as a torrent of frigid ice swirls towards me, freezing the air as it passes. It impacts my plain armor with golden wings, dissipating harmlessly. My eyes narrow, as the toppled tombstone of my predecessor greets the edge of my vision. Floating in the air above me, is a short girl with black hair in a surprisingly realistic magical girl outfit. What insolence, attacking me at my mentor's grave. Narrowing my eyes, I stare at her. "You'll have to try harder if you want to hurt me."
"How did you-" she stares with her mouth open, her legs shaking as she floats.
"Sorry, I'm really not obligated to tell you."
"[Celsius Cross Trigger]" she shouts, as the land around her freezes, waves of ice flowing towards me.
"Shatter the balance that protects the world, [Le Grondement de la Haine]" I state coldly, flames negating the waves of ice. "You do know that would have wrecked everything around if I hadn't negated that right?" I stare intently at her.

Without replying, she zips towards the hills, through the clouds as I streak after her. Finally, I catch up above a small clearing in the foothills. Within a few moments, she tumbles towards the ground, creating a rather large crater on impact. Calmly, I float down next to her. "[Pentagram Barrier]" I mumble, as the silver pentagram on my necklace shatters, shards flying outwards to form a shimmering barrier.

"I know you're not dead from something that weak." I roughly shake her shoulders as she groans. "Now, we can continue this with me getting more serious or you can answer my questions." Immediately, she flies towards the barrier, attempting to blast it with magic. "You know that's not going to work, right?" I calmly walk towards her, as she backs farther and farther into the corner, having given up.
"You're going to kill me aren't you? Just get it over with." She stares at me bravely, despite the fear etched in her eyes. I approach her calmly, and raise my hand, as she flinches, closing her eyes. Gently, I pat her head, ruffling her hair.
"I'm not going to kill you, I just want answers." I sigh. "I just arrived in town after a few years in Kyoto to be attacked by a magical girl while visiting my mentor's tombstone. What gives?"
"Sorry, I just felt somebody enter my sister's territory and I-" she breaks out in tears, leaving the sentence unfinished. Drops flow down her face, and onto her clothes one after the other, as her sobs continue.
"Attacked me without thinking about it." I sigh deeply as I finish the sentence for her. Gently, I wipe her eyes with a handkerchief. "Why don't you come with me to Wulfrik's Tea Haus and we can talk there?" I stick out my palm, which she takes with trembling fingers, and pull her up.

On the outskirts of town, we stop at a small unassuming stone house. Truly out of place in thighs city, reminiscent of classic European architecture. European architecture. In a Japanese town. "We're here, I hold the door open calmly."
"Your usual?" a tall slender man with graying hair dressed in a suit comes up to me."
"Yes, and if you could let me use room number two please, that would be appreciated."
"I see you caught an interesting date." he remarks, as he turns away.
"She's not my date." I respond evenly, only to see her blushing red.

Crackling flames interrupt the silence as an occasional spark pops off the logs. My fingers tap idly while I wait for tea to arrive. My armor presses awkwardly into my back while in this antique wooden chair. Supposedly, this was the house of a retired businessman from Europe, according to the description out front. But I knew better. Businessman in this case really was an eccentric magus weary of the petty squabbling politics of the clock tower. The sweet aroma of a dark red tea wafts through the door mixed with a smell of ginger. The butler comes and leaves, leaving behind the tray of freshly-baked cookies and cups of hot tea.

"So, who are you, and why did you attack me."
"I'm sorry, I'm serafall Leviathan and you entered my sister's territory."
"So you're the Leviathan. Of course I've heard of you, though you aren't what I expected. I'm Nemui, humble caretaker of Kuoh's leylines. My lineage has been in this town far longer than any of the three factions."
"This city's leylines?"
"You're aware of them aren't you?" She stares at me blankly. So, she isn't aware of them. Interesting. "How much are you willing to offer for the information?"
"What do you want? I'm sure I can pay for it." She puffs her chest out, looking at my straight in the eyes.
"You know, trying to act brave doesn't do anything for you."
"I'm sorry." Serafall hangs her head down, averting her eyes from me.
"So I'll make you a deal, if you give me information, I'll tell you about the leylines."
