Chapter 13: A Happy Ending
Marvin was standing in the flyer's garage which he had not set foot in since he was 6. The place had not aged at all over the years. Marvin was standing in front of Aladdin. "There's just one thing missing." Said Aladdin.
"What's that?" Asked Marvin
"Every flyer needs one of these." Aladdin then presented Marvin with a medal of valour much to Marvin's shock and delight. "Marvin, because you have demonstrated courage, character and a heart that is true, I now announce you a true, blue, flyer."
"Thankyou Aladdin." Marvin thanked.
Sam, Sylvester and Lilly then came out from behind the corner. "Congratulations Marv, no one deserves it more than you mate." Said Sam.
"You be careful out there." Cautioned Sylvester.
"You are the best friends I ever had." Smiled Marvin.
"Good luck Marvin." Lilly said, as she kissed Marvin on the cheek, much to his delight.
Aladdin's flyers were in their vehicles with the exception for Marvin who did not yet have his own vehicle and was sharing with all of the other flyers one at a time tonight to act as a torch in the darkest and most gloomy of nights. "Men, the storm circles the entire kingdom. To achieve tonight's goal, we must break through it. This will be one bumpy ride, but one by one you will go out tonight and Marvin will take the lead with his wonderful eyes. All of you will use your own vehicles, except for Fred who will use Shrek's tonight."
"That's fine by me sir." Agreed Fred.
"Role call!" And one by one the flyers announced their names starting with Shen and ending with Marvin. "Light it up Marvin!" Aladdin called.
"Right away Aladdin!" Marvin obeyed and lit up his eyes as Z9 launched his ship. The citizens were cheering from their homes this year as the weather was too treacherous for their usual Christmas Eve launch. Z9 looked worried. "We can beat this dad." Marvin encouraged as Z9 flew his ship into the wild weather.
Even though Marvin had many hills and mountains to climb and there was no easy road and he did not have very much time. He had to face the weather with his fellow flyers together and he made it through the night and completed his mission with delight. He faced the storm and it was not as bad as it seemed. He managed to go the extreme. He knew that even though it was dark, blue skies were coming his way. As long as he had his glowing eyes, he knew he'd survive this stormy ride. He could make it if he tried. On his last round with Aladdin as the pair delivered their last gift to a 12-year-old girl called Elmyra Duff Aladdin and Marvin cheered "we made it" with delight as they flew into the distance.
The next morning pleasant blue skies were back all over the kingdom as the horrifying storm had now passed never to be seen again. All of the citizens were awakening from their slumber, including Maria who was greeted to a new ice-sculpture, restarting her garden. It was the first time she had ever earned a gift from Aladdin. Sam received a new cabin and Sylvester had received a scarf that morning. A sleepy Marvin landed outside the factory on Aladdin's carpet with Aladdin by his side. His eyes had stopped glowing and he was drifting off to sleep until he was awoken by the citizens' cheering and a song lead by Babs Bunny.
Babs:
You know Shen and Hades, Fred and Batman, Scar and Felicia, Shrek, Z9, but do you recall the most famous flyer of all.
Garfield and Odie:
Marvin the red eyed Martian had very shiny eyes, and if you ever saw them, you would even say they glow.
Granny:
All of the other characters used to laugh and call him names.
Tweety:
They never let poor Marvin, join in any cartoon games
Maria:
Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Aladdin came to say.
Aladdin:
Marvin with your eyes so bright, won't you guide my flyers tonight?
Lola and Lana:
And how the whole kingdom loved him, as they shouted out with glee.
Diesel:
Marvin the red eyed Martian, you'll go down in history.
The celebrations continued into the Martian palace. Marvin was greeted to a pile of gifts from friends and family, Aladdin and a space ship identical to his father's which he'd fly the following Christmas Eve.
All:
Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Aladdin came to say.
Aladdin:
Marvin with your eyes so bright, won't you guide my flyers tonight?
Babs, Shirly, Mary and Fife:
And how the kingdom loved him, as they shouted out with glee. Marvin the red eyed Martian you will go down in history.
Marvin then pulled Lilly into the centre of the room, got down on one knee and presented her with a ring, much to Lilly and the whole kingdoms delight. Lilly slipped the ring on her finger, helped Marvin to his feet and kissed him on the lips which he returned.
All:
You'll go down in history!
