"You dared to interfere in my plans!"
Mia stared at her brother, deciding that enough was enough. She ignored their audience and gave into her temper. It was past time for someone to give her arrogant brother a reality check.
"Your plans?" she raised her eyebrows, lips twisting a cold smirk that was pure Isis. "Boy, you only got more arrogant with age didn't you? You are in need of a reality check, my dear brother, and I suppose it falls to me to do that."
"Oh, the pagan is going to do that?" Chuck raised his eyebrows, scoffing. "You have no right to judge me. You left as soon as Amara was taken care of."
Mia's smirk faded as she looked at him, pain clear in her eyes. "I left because I knew what was going to happen. I knew as soon as you locked our sister away. I saw it all and I decided to Fall, to hide, so that I could help when I was needed."
"You still left," Chuck pointed out snidely. "Just like me."
"I left but I came when my kids needed me," Mia spoke angrily, fury rolling through her at his assumptions. "I kept Lucifer from going insane in that Cage by himself. That was my grace that kept him sane. When Castiel died, over and over, I was the one to bring him back to life, to his family. When Gabriel was missing his family, I was there for him, even if he just thought it was a Pagan who wanted a friend. When Gabriel was lost, with no one to turn to, after Lucifer almost killed him, I was the one who took him in. None of them deserved any of the pain they have gone through!"
She moved forward, pointing a finger directly at her brother, as she growled. "I am nothing like you. You treat them like experiments, like a project you can just destroy after you're done. The angels, the Archangels, humanity, none of them are toys for you to just toss away when you get bored. They are so much more than that."
Chuck's face darkened, his power flaring, causing the room itself to darken.
The Winchesters looked around wearily before moving away from them both. Crowley and Rowena joined them, deciding not to get in the middle of a fight between God and one of his sisters.
At her side, Bela shifted closer to her, seeking safety, Lucifer in Castiel's vessel next to her, wings shuffling fearfully. Behind her, she heard Gadreel's and Anael's wings flutter as they gathered closer, Gabriel shifting uneasily where he stood on her other side, but Mia didn't move, unafraid.
"Just what is so great about them, Mia? They disappointed me, all of them. You, the Balance, are supposed to be neutral, to be able to cast judgement without bias. Instead, you abandoned your responsibilities and joined the Pagans, interfering when it suited you," Chuck seethed, furious.
"They disappointed you? So what? They don't do what you want them to so you just leave, abandon them? Is that what you think a parent does, Chuck?" Mia snarled, her own power causing the room to lighten, fighting back the dark that Chuck's power had caused. "Parents never give up on their children, not good parents. They're supposed to stick by their kids, do what's best for them, do everything they can to make them happy and keep them safe. There are so many things I regret. Not being able to do enough for my kids is the biggest one. I couldn't save them from everything, no, but I was there to help pick up the pieces."
Chuck stared at his sister as if he had never seen her before, seeing the way that his children gathered around her, ready to protect her if necessary.
"You...You were never meant to be this way. You were created to be the Balance, to be the bridge between Amara and I. That's all."
Mia's anger faded as she looked back at him, lips curling into a pained smile. "Disappointed, brother? Free Will, a concept that was never meant to apply to me, I suppose."
Seeing her pain, Bela stepped closer, arm winding around the woman who had saved her so long ago. She shot a dark glare at Chuck, angry that he had managed to hurt the one person who had always cared about her.
"I'm not arguing with you, Chuck. It's a waste of breath," Mia shook her head. "After this is over, I don't ever want to see you again."
