Clara opened her eyes and looked around. She was back within her own home—within her own bed. Dawn was just beginning to break from one of the windows within her room.
"Wow..." she said. Then, she looked down to find the Nutcracker at the foot of her bed—his lower jaw fixed and everything!
Clara immediately went down to see her family all gathered around the tree.
"Clara!" Her mother exclaimed. "So good that you could join us!"
"Your grandfather fixed up the Nutcracker," her father said. "He did a great job, despite his arthritis!"
Clara stood, absolutely speechless at the fixed toy.
"Clara, are you okay?" Fritz asked his older sister.
Clara looked down at her little brother and hugged him ever so tightly. Her brother looked very confused at her sudden change in behavior.
"Oh, I'm MORE than okay!" Clara exclaimed. "I love you."
