Heres a longer one shot but only one for this one. Hope you guys enjoy!

Shovel Knight tapped his chin in thought. Smashville was busy at noon as it always was. Toads, Waddle Dees, people, Mr. Saturns, and all sorts of creatures made their way along the busy streets. Shiny gold coins glistened in his hand as he felt out the weight of the 5 coins. They were only a small portion of the money he had received for turning in his treasure at the bank. The koopa there, a rather large and with a nice goatee, had almost popped his eyeballs out their sockets when the little knight threw his treasure bag on the table.

Never minding the fact he had to throw it cause he was just short of being able to put it on the table normally, the blue burrower was happy with what he got from the bank. A good 342 Gold Coins. It was a little more than a week's worth of what he made at the mansion.

Here he was, standing outside of the bank. One hand on his chin under his helmet the other lightly tossing the coins and catching them. Should he go shopping? It pained him immensely to think of the bag around his hip getting any lighter. Maybe he should go put it in the stash with the others? He had a bad habit of hoarding his money. A hammerspace sack that he kept under his bed. Most of the things he needed to live such as meals and other necessities were provided by the Master Hand and the Mansion staff so he ended up not spending a single coin of his earnings yet.

Maybe he could buy something… he really did like the coffee that they served in the cafeteria. Being more of an introvert as well, the idea of not always having to go to the cafeteria to get it would help. Luigi had called it a… coffee maker… yes that was it.

With a resolve that could only come from a person seeking caffeine he walked down the road to the general store Doos and Dees he remembered that the younger Mario brother had mentioned it before.

It was a smaller store, not uncommon in Smashville. Master Hand refused any large corporations (with the exception of Wario Ware) to open up shop in his realm. So instead huge sprawling super stores instead the city's shopping district was covered in strip malls and the like.

One High pitched ding as he walked in led him face to face with a rather well dressed Waddle Doo. It had one large… monocle…? Well it was one lens in the shape of glasses so it would be a monocle right?

"Welcome to Doos and Dees! Where we Doo believe that you will be Dee-lighted at our selection!"

Shovel Knight would have winced at the cheesy slogan if he wasn't too busy thinking whether to call the Waddle Doo's accessory a monocle or glasses. Nevermind the fact he had a cute little apron that trailed onto the floor, seemingly threatening to trip the little doo at any moment. It was… incredibly endearing.

"Erm… do you by chance carry… coffee makers… in your wares?"

If his helmet didn't completely obstruct his face he was sure that his ears would be red. The words felt strange and foreign off his tongue. The shop keep straightened up, well as much as he could given his anatomy.

"You bet we do! They are on aisle 4." He pointed with a stub. Thanking the clerk, the little knight wandered up the aisle. He was surprised to find that there were few different types of coffee makers. Hesitantly, he picked out a blue one with enough space for one decently sized cup.

It wasn't as heavy as he thought it would be, the box was about a quarter of his size after all. Shrugging the little knight held it with both hands. Awkwardly holding the box in front of his face as he made it to the front of the store.

Luckily, the store's counter was about at waist level so after he bumped into it he didn't have to toss the machine onto the counter like he did at the bank.

"I'll take this one."

"Awesome! That will be 20 coins."

Shovel Knight flinched violently at the price. He wasn't even sure if that was high but just being reminded that he would have to separate with 20 coins made him feel a little sick inside.

"Y-yes. Just a moment."

"Uh… are you going to get any grounds or creamer with that?"

Shovel Knight froze, one hand in his pocket as the spectacled Waddle Doo slid the box to the side. "There's some on aisles and 7. Shuffling back to the aisles in embarrassment, the little knight grabbed the first creamer and grounds that he found without looking.

"Okay that brings your total up to 72 coins."

The treasure hunter made a sound like he had been stabbed.

"Hey did you hear that noise?"

"What noise?" The stalwart one kept his voice level as he dug out the coins with a shaky hand. "Here."

"Great let me bag this stuff for you." The single eye shone with happiness as he quickly and deftly packed the machine, bag of grounds, and creamer. "All done. Have a wonderful day!"

Shovel Knight only nodded as he pulled the sack off the counter and drugged it behind him like a toddler would a toy. The Waddle Doo pulled off his eyewear, cleaning the lens.

"He must be a man of taste. He bought the most expensive creamer and grounds we had." The clerk hopped up and down and did a jig before walking back towards aisle 2. "

Probably should check the thermostat in the fridges. It almost looked like he was crying!"
