Leo POV

Leo walked with his new crew of friends to their biggest challenge yet, Math Class.

Sure he needed math for his projects, but to Leo, it was more science and technology.

He steeped through the room and made a beeline to the very back of the room. In a corner. Farthest away from the teachers desk. He pulled out something from his toolbelt and started subconsciously tinkering with it. He kept going until their teacher walked in.

"Hello class!" A deep voice boomed through the room. An older man walked through holding books and supplies in his hands. He seemed very fit even for his age and passed each book out to the class.

"I am Mr. D, which stands for Daedalus, but since my name is longer than needed, I will be known as Mr. D to you." They nodded.

"I am the Math and swordfighting teacher,"

'explains why he's so ripped' thought Leo

"is anyone thinking about swordfighting in this class?" Their teacher smiled.

Leo watched as Percy, Nico, and Jason raised their hands. He started tinkering with whatever he was doing again, at this point of his life Leo let his hands do whatever they wanted with his creations, which is probably why they blow up all the time.

Mr. D smiled, "Well, I would like to know your names! You, sir, in the back there, go first." He pointed straight at Leo.

Leo froze and slowly got up, "I'm Leo Valdez."

"Where are you from Mr. Valdez?"

"Houston."

"Sir?"

"Houston, Sir."

"And what is in your hands there?"

Leo instinctively looked down at his hands, a guitar looking thing with switches, levers, and buttons stood in his hands.

Leo chuckled, "I don't know sir, I probably just made it on accident."

His teacher's eyes twinkled and he reached out his hand, "May I... see it?"

Leo shrugged and handed it to him.

Mr. D inspected it with a spark in his eye, "Fascinating.." he murmured.

Then, he did something that surprised Leo, he took out a screwdriver from his desk and started tinkering with it himself. Leo watched as the old man's hands flew across his invention with ease. Leo started to say something but pause when he saw a mark, no a tattoo on Mr. D's neck. It looked like some sort of bird to Leo.

Leo's daydream abruptly ended when a desk slammed shut and saw Mr. D put his hand out to give it back to Leo.

Leo was shocked to see his creation improved by tenfold. It was undescribable how cool and professional it looked.

"You know Leo I used to be an inventor myself." The man chuckled, "I sometimes still tinker with things, what do you call that, ah, device?"

Leo smiled and said the first thing that came to his mind, "The Valdezinator."

"The Valdezinator it is!" Mr. D chuckled.

Leo strummed a beat and a beautiful sound came out. He started playing an old song he knew and the room was silent except for the new device Leo held in his hands. At the end he took the strap, which was at the back of The Valdezinator, and slid it on.

Leo swore he saw Mr. D say something to himself but shrugged it off as he waited for the next person to go, who was Piper.

As Annabeth ended introducing herself, the bell rang.

"Well, good day my friends! I expect to see you in my classes." He nodded to Leo.

They started filing out of the room, Leo decided that this class, might not be so bad.
