My amazing viewers! I have uploaded this chapter finally! It took a long time for something that shouldn't be too hard but I got busy and kinda got grounded for two days. Well DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE THE NEXT CHAPTER IS HERE AND I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT. My other story, Vigilantes inspired me to redo it which is what I've been so busy with. I'm turning it into a different story which is back in Medieval times! (If Ancient Greek was, well Medieval) So, I'm unfortunately deleting Vigilantes for a new one. This one will be more action based so stick around for that and definitely check it out! I promise I'll somehow make it up to you so comment what I should do or any story suggestions. AIGHT IMMA HEAD OUT TO WORK ON EVERYTHING I JUST SAID!
Enjoy!
Reyna POV
(Also since Reyna is in a different class you won't see many POVs for her. Also thinking about making this story 25-30 chapters long.)
L12 was.. different, in Reyna's opinion. Dakota and Gwen were fine, the twins, Aurum and Argentum Reyna knew and had been good friends with since forever, (Idk. I wanted them in the story so now they're twins. Sue me.) the others she barely knew, and Octavian... was Octavian. Rumors were that he stole people's stuffed animals (specifically pandas) and dissected them. When Reyna first heard this she thought, 'Psh science nerd.' Whether those rumors were true or not, she didn't know. Nevertheless, kids started calling him 'Freddy the Teddy killer'.
Her day had been great so far and being invited to join A2's group for The Labyrinth Games cheered her up even more. She was hanging out with Aurum and Argentum in the Pavilion, asking them what team they'll join.
"Nah." Aurum began, "We don't really like that kind of field so instead," Argentum picked up, "We're in technical support like the Infirmary," Aurum continued, "And rebuilding the battlefield." Argentum finished.
"Next time, only one person." Reyna rolled her eyes. She could never figure out how twins did that, or why Aurum and Argentum liked to annoy her in doing so. "And good luck wherever you are." The twins' matching ruby colored eyes reflected on every surface. Unlike the other two sets of twins, Castor and Pollux, and Travis and Connor.
Reyna stood up and sighed, "I'm gonna go take a walk, no I don't want your company but thanks for asking." They eyed her and started muttering to themselves.
She pushed open the doors and walked a ways away from the Pavilion.
"Helloo Reyna." A voice drawled.
Reyna stopped and clenched her fist. "What do you want Octavian."
"Ah your voice pains me-"
"Get to the point."
"Fine, sheesh, who died and made you Praetor."
The pale boy straightened and said, "I want you on my team for-"
"Too late already been asked, already accepted said invite. Are we done here."
"Curses, who asked you? I will revoke you from their team!" Octavian spat.
"Hah no. Now stop bothering me. I have important business that doesn't require you." Reyna lied.
He scoffed his signature scoff and turned on his heel and left.
Annabeth POV
Annabeth checked to see if she wasn't being followed. When she was clear, she swiftly ran to the girl's common room and into the supply closet. She pulled aside the curtain and entered a vent, she finally exited and entered a small room she called Bunker 9. She had put everything she ever favored in here. A small silver coin with Greek writing, a faded golden varsity jacket for the Hero's High swordfighting team, and her Dad's college ring. She often came here to be alone, study, and think. Today, she was thinking. The group had split when all wanted members had been accepted. She was determined to win this year's Games because she was incredibly close last year. The only reason they got second was when Ethan Nakamura collapsed in the middle of an event. He was shot to the hospital and her team couldn't find a replacement. Last she heard of Ethan was that he lay in critical condition and was slowly dying. That was two months ago and she assumed he was still alive when she hadn't heard anything new.
Annabeth got down to business and started with square one.
''What makes Percy so special from all the other boys? I just want to be friends with him and he acts the same. It's not like he likes me or anything so why?"
Annabeth knew this was unlike her, she always had her emotions in check and balanced, what really threw her off track was that she had never really thought about the 'love' emotion. She concluded that it was probably because she hadn't felt it at her birth home, and only felt it with her school home.
She decided to think on this later and exited Bunker 9. She pushed aside the curtain and left the supply closet to get back to her cabin. Of course, this was not the case.
"Hello, Princess." A tough voice yelled across the hall.
"Happy to see you as well Clarisse." Annabeth greeted.
"We are SO going to beat you this year. If that little wimp Nakamura hadn't passed out we would've had a fair fight." Clarisse grunted.
"He's not a wimp, and good luck to beating us, my team this year seems pretty good." Annabeth shot and waved goodbye as she walked into her room.
Special POV - Nico
Nico decided that his dad was right. This was a good place to stay for the time being after Bianca died. He still wished she was still alive and always choked up every now and then at the thought of his late sister. He already fit in with his class and really enjoyed being here. As he was walking back to the boy's wing he bumped into a sandy haired blonde.
"Ah sorry about that." The blonde turned around, Nico saw that the person in front of him looked at least, a year older.
"No problem." Nico assured.
"I'm Will Solace by the way!" The boy smiled.
"Nico di Angelo." Nico replied walking off.
(Author Note: Don't worry, we will come back to Nico a little later in the chapter, I just needed this little bit for Solangelo to meet.)
Piper POV
Piper... Was up to no good. She probably didn't know that she was, but she was hanging with Leo. She was always a bit rebellious because of her dad being famous and her wanting to be normal. She stuck by the rules when she wanted, and broke them when least expected. Leo on the other hand broke them despite being a self-proclaimed inventor.
She walked with Leo because he said he needed a bit of help, Piper already knew he was going to steal something when he accidentally dropped a very suspicious lockpick.
"So, whatcha gonna steal?" Piper asked to, hopefully, catch him off guard.
"Me? Steal? Pffff, no way. I'm just forcefully borrowing ten paper clips, eight rubber bands, a stapler gun, tinfoil, and my favorite item in the world, duct tape." Leo smiled smugly and put his hands behind his head.
"That's the exact same thing as stealing." Piper rolled her eyes.
"No, no, my logic is clearly the superior." Leo said. Piper noted that the statement would have been cool if Leo hadn't mispronounced "Superior".
She silently snickered to herself when Leo clapped extremely loudly right next to her ear, effectively startling her.
Piper glared back at Leo which wasn't that hard because he was a couple (note the sarcasm) inches shorter than her.
"Try something like that again, there'll be bugs in your bed before breakfast." Piper leered.
"Ha, to bad I oversleep every day!" Leo shot back.
"Exactly, when no one else is in your cabin, bugs before breakfast." Piper smirked, "Try not to eat a spider."
"HO-KAY Ms. McLean I will!" He awkwardly bowed while walking at the same time.
Piper stopped dead in her tracks, "Don't do that."
"Do what" Leo paused too.
"Do what you just did."
"Calling you Ms. McLean?"
"Yeah that."
"Why?"
"If I tell you, you'll probably be on your knees." Piper muttered.
Leo shrugged, "Well pull the trigger, slash the sword, hammer a hammer."
"My dad's Tristan McLean." (Author Note: I'm not sure if I spelled that wrong. Comment if it is.)
Leo looked at her, his eyes widened, "No way."
Piper looked down.
Leo started getting down on his knees and bowed, much to Piper's discomfort.
"Stop it! Get up!" She complained.
"You're the daughter of THE Tristan McLean." He said from the ground.
"Yes now get up!" Piper grumbled.
Leo somehow managed to bow even lower.
They were like that for ten seconds before Leo stood up saying, "Yeah never heard of him." Before walking off.
This earned a slap from Piper after she caught up, "You jerk!" She hit him again, all the while Leo was laughing harder than ever
Piper stopped hitting him and said, "But please, keep this a secret."
"Can't promise that." Leo's eyes glinted murderously. Not like murder, murderously, but like he was about to go steal a megaphone, attach it to a speaker and yell, "PIPER'S DAD IS A MOVIE STAR."
She slapped him again before they reached a room that said "Teacher Supplies" on the front.
Leo pulled out the lockpick and started fumbling with the door knob, "Watch my back." He said.
After a few minutes of struggling he gave up, "Why can't I unlock this stupid door!" He kicked the wall and dropped the lockpick in his pocket.
"Here let me try." Piper said.
Leo sighed, "Be my guest." And gestured towards the door.
Piper walked up and turned the knob, then pushed the door open. (Author Meme: Killer Queen has already touched the doorknob) (You didn't see this.. shhhhh)
"It was unlocked the entire time." Piper tried to hide her smirk, but burst out laughing at Leo's face.
"WHAT'S SO FUNNY!" Leo grumbled.
"Your face was priceless!" Piper wheezed.
Leo pushed her aside and grabbed everything he needed.
"Let's go before we get caught." He mumbled as the supply closet door closed.
He walked away with Piper slowly following behind, still snickering.
Special POV - Nico (Part Two)
Nico walked into the dining pavilion to see it already packed with people eating. Dinner had started five minutes ago and everyone was already here. He grabbed a tray and slid it along the line and grabbed some food to eat. He also grabbed a drink and walked over to where he usually sat, at the end of his table next to Leo and Hazel.
Upon getting within earshot, Leo grinned mischievously and pulled out Nico's seat. Nico glared at Leo, who shrugged and raised his hand in surrender. It was only the second day and Leo already had a reputation for pulling chairs out from under people, causing them to fall on their butt.
He seemed to have walked in a heated conversation.
"... will set up defense on the eastern side." Annabeth said, "Any questions?"
Nico raised his hand, "Yeah, say everything all over again."
Annabeth rolled her eyes and began again, "Okay, so the first event of The Games is Team Deathmatch. Each team will set up a fort in a different part of the forest. It's all basic stuff like setting up a flag and placing traps here and there. Each team will have four players set out into the forest, and after ten minutes, another four will be sent out. The last four people remain at their base and defend from ongoing attackers."
Nico nodded for her to continue.
"The battlefield is called Zeus's Fist, there's a large rock in the middle, conveniently shaped like a fist, and there are tons of loot on the top."
Nico stepped in and asked, "What kinds of equipment are placed there?"
"An assortment of weapons and traps."
"How much?"
"Depends each year, last year it had twenty traps, two swords, three shields and five bows."
Nico pondered this new information.
"Anyways, each player has three little packets on them with paint of their team's color inside. If you pop someone else's packets, that person is out."
"How many teams are in one event?" Jason asked.
"Four." A girl Nico had never before said, "I'm Reyna, by the way." Two other people were also sitting that Nico didn't know either, he assumed they were Thalia and Luke.
Jason nodded and leaned back in his seat, crossing his arms.
"The teams that lose fight each other and other losing teams in the next event, which is unannounced, and the winners fight the other winners as well." Calypso added.
"Wait, I thought there was only one winner each event." Percy said.
"There is, the first and second place teams are considered "winners" as the third and fourth are dubbed as "losers". Annabeth confirmed.
"Then should we just aim for second and be over with it?" Leo muttered.
"It's not that simple," Calypso sighed, " The first place team out of the four gets advantages for the next event they're in, but in turn will fight against other teams that have advantages as well."
Leo shrugged and continued to eat his third slice of pie.
"This year, they decided to change the rules however." Reyna said, everyone looked at her in surprise and even Annabeth looked confused.
"They added alliances, something that was banned in the past years." She finished.
Nico turned his head and he swore he saw Annabeth mutter something like, 'Time to change ALL my plans' and then, 'probably just going to backstab us'.
Reyna laughed and said, "Oh no, teams who are in an alliance aren't allowed to backstab the team they teamed up with. If you do, the other team gets more lives, or paint packets, in this case."
"We need to find another team then, and FAST. No doubt other teams have already ganged up on us." Frank said.
Nico heard the the guy named Luke chuckle and say something like, "This crowd's pretty uptight."
The dark haired girl, probably Thalia, crossed her arms and muttered something.
Luke looked up and said, "Anything else about this new rule? I didn't even know about it."
"If and only if, you and the team you had an alliance with, beat the other two, only then are you forced into combat with one another, causing you to break said alliance until the next game." Reyna said, crossing her arms, "But I doubt any alliances will be together two games in a row."
The rest of the group nodded in agreement. Nico checked the clock, "Hey, guys. Already almost time for the evening announcement, we have ten minutes to leave and thirty minutes until it starts, anyone want to bounce with me right now?"
All the boys decided that this was a great time to check out, the only exception being Luke, all the girls wanting to stay a bit longer.
Percy's eyes brightened as they made their way towards their cabin, "Anyone want to play Hacky Sack?'
All wanting to outshine the other, they all agreed and turned their cabin to a Hacky Sack competition. They barely noticed it was almost time for the announcement when Grover burst in their room.
"Where are you guys? The assembly is about to start in two minutes!" He panted, his knuckles white from gripping his crutches.
Silence filled the room.
"... Well crap" they all said at the same time before they all bolted out the door, Grover at their heels.
