Chapter 19: What Comes Next {AKA 'Awesome, Wow'}
Senator Lux Bonteri of Onderon was on a holocall with the sith leader of the Separatists, declaring that the Onderon system would be seceding from the Confederacy, and joining the Republic.
"Onderon, and the other planets in our system shall never again serve the Separatist cause again."Bonteri finished.
Count Dooku inwardly cursed. Onderon had a lot of profitable resources."Well, Senator ,I have a small query for you."
"What?" The younger human asked.
"What comes next? You've been freed." Count Dooku asked, standing up, as music started. "Do you know how hard it is to lead?"
"Um-no? I don't think-"
"You're on your own. Awesome, wow!" Sarcasm was sprinkled in his voice as the Sith lord sang that last line.
"No I'm not. I'm joining the-"Bonteri tried to interject, but Count Dooku kept singing.
"Do you have an idea of what happens now?"
"Yes, actually. All the citizens of the Onderon system become citizens of the Republic,"
"Oceans rise, empires FALL!" Dooku sang, extending his arms exuberantly. "It's much harder when it's all your call."
"Excuse me? No it isn't. I have to confer with King Dendup, and the Senate has to vote on the laws." Bonteri said, looking half scared and half weirded out.
"All alone, across the sea."
"But we're not..."
"When your people say they hate you, don't come crawling back to me." Dooku said.
"THEY LITERALLY CHEERED WHEN WE WERE REBELLING AND BLOWING UP YOUR STUFF!" Bonteri exclaimed.
"Da, da, da, dat, da, dat, da, da, da, ya! Da, da, dat, da, da, da, ya da!" The Sith lord belted out, then he said, more quietly. "You're your own."
Lux left the call, then turned around. His personal bodyguard, Saw Gerrera, was standing behind him. Holding a holocamera.
"Were you filming that?" Lux asked.
"Yep!" Saw smiled. "The holonet will go crazy over this!"
"I'm honestly even more glad that we left," commented Lux."If he does that to everyone, all the time, I'd go insane."
But Saw wasn't listening to his senator. He was too busy uploading the video.
