In this world, magic isn't in hiding. Witches and wizards consist of a small subsection of the population. Magical live side by side with non-magics. If you have magic, it is considered a special talent. The magical society is considered to be like a small community. However, it is still hidden by magic and non-magical must get permission to visit, and usually have a wizard or witch take them.

Broken amber eyes, usually brimming with determination and confidence, filled with tears, as she looks at him, devasted.

Her true feminine voice cries out brokenly "Heine, they are forcing me to marry!"

"The Ministry sold me off to Helles!" Sobs ring out as a blonde head bend over and cry into her knees. The orphans surround her, attempting to comfort her.

"They give me a title and lands in preparation for my marriage," Dull amber eyes look at him as their owner read over some papers. "I am having them build an orphanage. With magic, you all should be able to move in a month or so."

A small smile lightens up a sad face as all the children rush into their new home.

"I will marry Duke Seth, but don't think this is the end of it." White gloved hands tightened around the wedding bouquet of purple hyacinths, red roses, and white edelweiss. For a moment, Heine thought she would hit the smirking Minister Felix with it. "It is not. I will be back one day. I swear it. You will pay for selling me off like a piece of meat." All of this was said in the coldest most passionless voice ever. For the first time in his life, Heine feels fear. Even with all of Alexandra's changes, as she prepared for her wedding and ascension into high society, he had never seen her like this. With that, she turns on her heel and starts to walk down the aisle, her normal sunny smile on her face. Only Heine, with all his years of knowing her, can see the fear, hatred, and determination behind it.

"I will be back one day! I swear it! You will pay for selling me off!

Heine jerks awake. Looking around, he saw that he was in his room in the palace. Breathing heavily, he got up.

"Why am I dreaming of Alexandra? I know she is fine. She gives her husband an heir within a year of her marriage. Her position and life are secure." Heine opens a wooden box, carved with strange symbols, runes. The box had been a gift from Alexandra's husband on their wedding date. It can send letters to him directly from a corresponding box that Alexandra has. At first, Alexandra used it frequently, sending him letters almost daily. He had raced to learn how to read and write to correspond to her.

Heine opens the letter from Alexandra, detailing the birth of her twins, her firstborn son, Perseus (slayer), and her eldest daughter, Tana (fire or star goddess). Her letters started to decline after their birth as her time was occupied with raising her twins and social obligations as the Duchess of Aegean. His letters also decreased as his studies taken up his time. Alexandra makes sure to send letters detailing each of her children's birth. 4 years later she had another daughter, Euterpe (Muse of music). Then, another 2 years later, Aglaia (one of the three Graces, brightness) was born. Two years after that, Alexander got pregnant again with twins. This time it was twin boys, Aristotle (knowledgeable, wise) and Andronikos (male victor), much to the relief of Seth. He had been rendered infertile by poison, along with several other noblemen and the king while at Hellas' royal court.

Heine sighs as he closed the letter detailing Seth's death. Seth had eventually died from a combination of disease from inbreeding and the poison that render him infertile. In her letter, she writes in a shaky hand that Seth had left her the title Marquess of Aegina, lands of her own, and the trading company he had help her started. Alexandra was fine. She was a strong woman and she had her children to help her.

"I am worried about nothing. It is probably due to the lecture I give the princes today about marriage."

Now princes, while it is true that marriage is important for royals, it is also important for nobles. Noble families will make alliances with each other and sealed that with a marriage between their children. A king needs to be aware of that. It will tell him where their allegiances laid and what kind of resources and support will be available to that family. The alliances will be made for wealth, power, and land. Some marriages could be set even before the children are born. Others are made later on as their parents made alliances.

Now noble families don't make alliances just within the kingdom. Sometimes they, like royals, marry foreigners. A good example of this is in the Tudor Dynasty. María de Salinas come from Spain with Catherine of Aragon. She married Baron William Willoughby, an English nobleman. Sometimes if a royal family doesn't have a prince or princess, a distant blood relative's, usually a duke's, the child will be married off. The children usually don't get a say in it.

Depending on how quickly they needed the alliance and various other circumstances such as the political situation in the country, the child may be sent off at a very young age. For example, Mary was sent to Fonseine at 5 years old due to the unstable situation in her country. The marriage could take place as early as 17." Heine's face flashed with pain remembering Alexandra's wedding and how it seems to have broken her in a way the streets and the old blood families haven't. Only Bruno and Licht notices.

Heine returns to his bed. He had lessons tomorrow to, as he laid in bed, he can't help feeling that the dream meant that a storm is coming.

In an isolated manor, a beautiful blonde woman in an expensive pale purple dress stands on a balcony. She looks over the lands that she hadn't seen since shortly after they were granted to her along with the title of Countess Hortensienblühen. She sneers. Like lands and a title were going to make up for essentially having her entire life signed away without her knowledge or approval. Especially since the land and title were meant to raise her in rank to make her more appealing to Seth and to show how much Granzreich values the alliance between them and Helles.

"I am back, Granzreich! Now it is time for you to pay for selling me off!" Alexandra laughs, an elegant laugh benefiting a high-ranking lady, but hysterical enough to frighten even the most hardened of criminals.

I was watching Tudors and decided to use a real-life example. I am not sure if that is true of nobility in real life, but I will be used this plot for some parts of my story.

Fonseine, based on the manga, seems to be based in France
