A/N: Hi, thank you for the feedback on my last chapter. Firstly, I hope this one makes sense, I had quite a bit of writer's block with it, and I hope you like it. Don't be afraid to let me know how you feel. Just wanted to add that there is a mention of abortion/termination in this chapter, so if you feel uncomfortable with that subject, then this is your warning. If you want the TD;LR then just skip to the other note at the bottom of this chapter. Have a wonderful weekend, you fabulous people.

After the appointment Robert had dropped Andy back at her apartment and he headed back to work. He wanted to stay with her but he had an important meeting with the new Fire Chief that he couldn't miss. But that didn't stop him from going out of his mind with worry about how Andy was feeling.

As soon as Andy walked into her apartment, she found her laptop and immediately started researching all she could about CDH. No matter the situation, she always wanted to have full knowledge of the possible outcomes. She also knew that Carina would eventually tell her all the information that she needed but Andy couldn't wait a couple of days to know what was happening to her daughter.

Andy spent hours upon hours looking up cases of CDH. She found a forum that had parents who were going through the same thing as her, which brought a little comfort to her. By the time Maya had gotten home from work, their living room was filled with paperwork everywhere surrounding Andy in the middle.,

"Andy? What on earth is going on?" She enquired, trying to make her way to the couch.

"I'm… it's research." She replied, not looking up from her laptop screen.

"Research?" Maya questioned. She got no response from Andy so picked up a piece of paper. She skimmed through taking in as much as she could. "Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia? Is everything okay, Andy?"

"No. Nothing's okay" She shouted, standing up to release some of the anger she had inside, "My baby is injured and we can't fix her until she's born. But if she's born, then there's a chance she could die. So, no. Nothing's okay." The tears now flowed down her cheeks.

Maya was in shock. In all the years that she had known Andy, she had never seen her like this before. Anxious was an understatement to describe the way that Andy looked, and most likely felt. All Maya could do was make her way to where Andy was and hold her; she knew it wouldn't make much of a difference but she hoped that Andy would appreciate the sentiment.

A few days later, both Andy and Robert were sat in a small conference room as Carina talked about their unborn daughter. They had just sat through a half an hour scan in which Carina took multiple pictures of different angles to get the full picture of what was happening. She was now describing the situation to the parents. Robert was listening intently but Andy was distant; she couldn't hear the words coming out of Carina's mouth for she was numb all over. She could barely feel the grip of Robert's hand on top of hers.

"So, after today's scan, I can confirm that your baby has a left-sided hernia, which is the most common form of CDH which also means that there are no other abnormalities to be seen. I would like to do an MRI in a couple of weeks just to see how everything is looking so we can start preparing your birth plan. I would like to induce you two weeks early so we have complete control over everything." Carina explained.

"There will be no need for that." Andy stated, looking down at the floor.

"Andy, it's vital that we get the full picture as you make it to term." Carina said sternly.

"There's going to be no more pregnancy after tomorrow." She blurted out.

"What do you mean?" Robert asked as he looked at her.

"I've booked a termination."

Now Robert went numb. He let go of Andy's hand not wanting to believe what she was saying, "Don't you think we should've discussed this together, as her parents?"

"Andy, are you sure this is what you want?" Carina asked.

"If there's a 50 per cent chance that she's going to die as soon as she's born, then what is the point?" Andy stated nonchalantly.

"Because she might actually survive this." Robert exclaimed, raising his voice.

"BUT SHE MIGHT NOT!" She shouted before leaving the room.

Robert sighed, "Did you know about this?"

"No, I didn't." Carina replied truthfully.

"I need to go and find her." Robert stated after collecting his thoughts. He pulled out his phone and began calling her. It went straight to voicemail. So, he hung up and tried once more but there was nothing.

Night fell and there was still no word from Andy. Robert constantly got her voicemail and she hadn't gone out her way to ring him. He had left umpteen messages, hoping that if she just heard one, she wouldn't go through with the termination.

By the morning, there was still no news from Andy. He tried calling once again but she didn't pick up. It seemed like Andy had gone completely off-grid and there was no way of contacting her. There was the option of asking Maya if she had seen Andy but he didn't want to let Maya know that he was the baby daddy. There was nothing that Robert could do until Andy reached out to him so he rolled out of bed and got ready for work.

As Robert walked through the doors of Station 19 late in the afternoon, it looked as if he had seen a ghost. There she was, in her uniform, walking down the stairs. Knowing what she had just gone through, work was the last place he expected to find her, "Hi… what are you doing here?"

"I work here." She responded.

"Andy!" He raised an eyebrow, letting her know this was not the time for jokes.

"Not here." She whispered. She jogged down the last few steps before making her way to the turnout room with Robert following closely behind.

"Why are you here? Shouldn't you be resting?" He asked, his voice quiet to avoid anyone listening in.

"I didn't go through with it. I'm still pregnant." She blurted out.

Robert couldn't help but smile, "You are?"

"I am." She confirmed, matching his smile.

"Did you listen to my voicemails?" He questioned; his eyes wet with tears that were yet to fall.

"What voicemails?" She replied with a puzzled look on her face.

"I sent you ten voicemails. Haven't you heard one?" Robert wiped his eyes, clearing the water knowing that the moment for crying at passed.

Andy shook her head.

"What is the point in having a voicemail if you don't listen to them?!" Robert raised his voice ever so slightly.

"Aid Car 19. Civilian in distress. 63 Drury Lane."

"That's me. I've got to go." Andy announced, turning around to exit the room.

"Andy, just listen to the messages." Robert spoke softly as she walked through the doorway. Robert didn't know if she heard him but he hoped she did. The past few days had been tough for both but he had time to think about what he wanted and he only hoped that she felt the same way.

Andy had been on back-to-back calls since her talk with Robert. His last words to her were replaying in her head so, when she got into her bunk for the night, she played one of the messages:

"Listen, Andy. What I wanted to say, what I want you to know, is that if our little girl inherits just one small ounce of her mother's fight and bloody-mindedness, I know she'll have the greatest chance in life, because you're her mom. She would be so lucky to have you, we both will. Sorry, I never told you that before."

Andy couldn't help but smile upon hearing Robert's words. Since finding out about their daughter's diagnoses, they hadn't spoken at all for they didn't know how to feel. Hearing the odds of survival for their child everything seemed bleak. But now, knowing she would have Robert's full support, Andy didn't know why she ever booked the termination. She immediately wanted to go and find Robert but it was one in the morning and he was no longer at the Station. So, she made the decision to sleep first and see him at a more appropriate time, though trying to get to sleep with her stomach full of excitement, was easier said then done.

It was now early morning and the heavens had opened on Seattle but that didn't stop Andy racing to Robert's house. She had never left work in such a hurry before but she wanted to make sure that she got to his before he would leave.

Within minutes, she pulled up outside his house and jogged up to his front door. The rain was coming down even heavier, soaking her through but that didn't matter to her, she was ready to see him. She knocked on his door and waited for him to answer. Andy didn't have to wait long; Robert soon enough opened the door. Wearing his grey sweats, he was shocked to see the woman standing in front of him, "Andy?"

"Did you mean all that you said? Because I need to know that what you said in those messages is the truth because I don't want to be with you if you're only here for the baby. I want you to be with me because you want to be with me." She rambled on.

"Andy, I want to be with you because you're you. Our daughter is a bonus." Robert spoke.

Andy couldn't help but smile and lunge forward to embrace Robert. Robert wrapped his arms around the small of Andy's back, kissing her on her forehead. "You're soaked" Robert let out a small chuckle, "Come on, let's get you dried." He pulled away from their embrace, keeping his hand on her back to help guide her into his house.

They were finally together, at last.

A/N: Baby is still here and they are finally together because you all wanted it! Also, its crazy that we're getting the new season in three weeks; I'm so excited to see what's going to happen with Surrera.
