Series 2, Episode 32 ~ House of Curfews
Fabian had taken up pacing back and forth in the girl's room. His hair was standing on end due to the amounts of times he'd ran his hands through it in stress. Nina was sat next to Amber allowing her to comfort her while they all tried to think of what to do next.
"What are we going to do?" Patricia asked them all, "if we don't get those amulets back from Victor there is no way we're ever going to get back in the tunnel."
"Then kiss the mask goodbye," Nina mumbled.
"Don't worry I could be worse," Amber pulled Nina too her into a hug before looking to Alfie, Patricia and Camilla all on Camilla's 3rd of the room, "it really couldn't..." she whispered.
"Wherever you are!" Victor's voice came from downstairs, "know this, it is 10 O'clock..."
"Pin drop..." they all groaned as Victor went on to do their curfew call.
Alfie and Patricia got up from Camilla's bed and wandered to the bedroom door, "No wait," Fabian called stopping them from leaving the room as the two turned around at his call. "We can do this," He said to them, before turning to Amber and Nina, "we can do this, we can get the Amulets back."
"How?" Camilla asked getting to her feet.
"We blew our one chance at grabbing when he took them off," Patricia agreed with Camilla.
Fabian smiled at them knowingly, "So we take them while he's got them on."
"I know we have a Camilla but even that seems like impossible magic!" Alfie told the male twin; he wasn't alone in thinking Fabian sounded insane.
"Hear me out," Fabian went on to explain, "let's say he was super tired. Like the most tired a human being has ever been, EVER!"
"doesn't that count on him being human," Alfie joked causing smiles to flit onto the Sibuna's faces.
Nina, however, had clocked onto Fabian's plan, "yeah, okay," she said excitedly, "so we keep him up all night, and then when he does fall asleep..."
"Nothing will wake him," Fabian concluded for her.
"and we make our move."
"This is going to be good," Alfie smiled, a night of causing Chaos it was like he was made for such a thing.
Camilla looked between Nina and Fabian before glancing to Amber, "is that how freaky me and Fabian sound when we finish each other's sentences?" she asked the blonde who was quick to nod her head.
The plan was simple. They all had to come up with a way to keep Victor awake.
Of course, Fabian insisted on the buddy system just to make sure they always had someone looking out for them, Amber instantly grabbed Camilla. The two girls glanced out the door to the landing and noticed Victor walking into the living room below, it was safe for them to creep down the stairs. Amber's idea was to set off the security lights – it was a small idea but they decided to start small and build the intensity of their ways to keep Victor up. Camilla had a very specific idea in mind, one that would help her take some her frustration about Vera out of her system.
The front door creaked as Amber opened it, and the two girls couldn't help but sprint into the darkness of the night at the noise. Both of them dancing about and waving their arms in front of the security light until it came on. Of course, the light came on and blinded them both, causing Camilla to grab Amber's hand and the two to scarper around the side of the building just in time to see Victor come out from the house.
"Who's out here?!" he demanded into the deadly still darkness in front of the house.
Amber looked at Camilla and the two put their hands to their eyes, "point one to Sibuna," they whispered before they both slipped into the shadows surrounding the side of the house.
Inside Anubis house Alfie used the girl's distraction as an opportunity to sneak back downstairs, just slipping into his room as Victor walked back into the house again.

Half an hour later, it was Patricia's turn to take a swing at keeping Victor awake. Her plan involved sorting out two of her problems at once. After waking a sleeping Mara, the two girls popped their heads around the upper floor door to see Victor having dozed off at his desk.
"Remind me why we have to get even with Eddie right now?" a sleepy Mara asked her friend.
"Always prank your enemies when they least expect it," Patricia explained as if it was the simplest thing on the planet. "Operation nemesis is ago,"
Before either of the girls could do anything some of Eddies horrible thrash metal music started playing downstairs extremely loudly, instantly causing Victor to wake up. Patricia smiled as she shut the upper floor door, knowing it was the doing of Nina and Fabian who had snuck downstairs as she went to wake Mara.
Patricia opened the door once again as Victor rushed past it, on his way downstairs to find the source of the noise.
"Yes! Yes! Very clever!" Victor bellowed loudly, causing Fabian and Nina who were hiding in a kitchen cupboard to share a smile to one another. "Who is it!" Fabian pressed a button to switch off the Bluetooth speaker he had hidden behind the woodpile for the fire, "Well? Show yourself." Victor asked the empty living room looking around.
"Second Verse, Same as the first," Fabian whispered to Nina, before pressing the button again and the music started blaring loudly once again.
"What? What is going on?!" Victor demanded of the empty room.
"Point 2, Sibuna," Nina whispered to Fabian as they shut the cupboard doors.
Amber was watching Camilla from her place on the school wall; the girl had a large tin of white paint she had stolen from the supply shed and was trying to pry the lid of it with a screwdriver.
"Hey Alfie," she sleepily said as Alfie and Jerome wandered past them, Alfie not looking surprised to see either girl out and about but Jerome stopped to take in the sight.
"What are you two doing?" He asked.
"Stuff..." Camilla grunted as she tried to force off the lid once again.
"Like?" he asked causing her to turn to look at him.
"I could ask you the same question? Where are you off to J?" Camilla asked expectantly.
Jerome nodded his head in understanding it was one of those situations where they just wouldn't ask each other what they were up too and let them go on. "I understand Milly, good luck," Jerome told her causing a smile to flit onto her face.
"And you," she said, meaning more for Alfie but that didn't matter.
As the two boys walked off Camilla felt Amber's eyes on her in a different way than before. Camilla hazarded a glance up at her and saw a knowing look causing the girl to groan. What was it about friends that they always seemed to know when you were not telling them something?
"Cam," Amber started as the girl-focused back on the paint can again, "you know you can tell me anything right?"
"Yeah," Camilla answered through a grunt.
"right," Amber said again simply, "why do you never join in on the girl chat when me and Nina talk about it?"
Camilla thought the question was odd but it was Amber she was talking too, the girl probably had gotten bored of watching her, "I already know what I'm looking for in a guy so I don't see the point in discussing it," Camilla told her simply.
"Which is?"
"It's tall, handsome, nerdy, childish, smart as hell," Camilla listed off the top of her head not thinking, her focus was on the pain tub as the lid was close to coming off.
"So, Jerome," Amber said simply.
The paint lid went flying as Camilla looked up in shock at the blond, "what?"
Amber gave Camilla a small smile, "You like Jerome, don't you?" Camilla didn't know how to respond to Amber's question but the girl didn't need a response. Everything she needed to know was all over Camilla's face. "From that look on your face, I already know the answer to that question."
Camilla got to her feet and looked at her best friend, "Ambs, he likes Mara. What am I meant to do?"
Amber jumped off the wall and grabbed Camilla's hand, "You tell him when you are ready Cam. That's what you do. Life's too short to not tell someone that."
Camilla sent Amber a small smile before she turned to look at the dark green car next to them, before looking down at the white paint. Crushes aside they had a mission to go on.
Patricia and Mara had been busy at work. Mara had questions, Fabian and Nina, as they slipped past them from the kitchen and ran up the stairs moments after the music in the living room stopped and Victor's office door slammed shut but Patricia didn't answer any of her questions and kept filling the bucket she had found full of food. Patricia expertly balanced the bucket on the top of the doorframe and knocked on Eddie's door. Sleepily the boy walked out of the room just to get the bucket on his head.
Patricia burst out laughing as Mara fled into the kitchen just as Victor came roaring down the stairs.
"What on earth do you call this?" Victor's booming voice could be heard even from the girl's bedroom.
"Just having a midnight snack." Patricia sassed Victor back.
"Detention!" he hissed pointing between her and Eddie, "detention for both of you commencing tomorrow and ending perhaps never! Now clear up this mess!" with that the man turned on his heel and stalked from the house, just in time to hear a car alarm going off in the distance.
Camilla and Amber, both with white paint on their clothes and face's grinning, popped their heads out of the kitchen to see a shocked Eddie and an amused Patricia. They had snuck back into the house via the back door, just in time to hear the end of Victor's threat to Peddie.
"Point 4 Sibuna," Camilla whispered to Amber as they heard the car alarm go off.
"What just happened?!" Eddie asked Patricia.
"long story short. Victor, you, me, detention." She said simply as she tried not to laugh at her fellow Sibuna's in the kitchen. Her eyes were full of questions at their paint-covered selves.
Eddie hit himself before letting out a sigh realising that he wasn't, in fact, dreaming, "I'm not dreaming. Great." He murmured before going back to his room.
Patricia looked to Amber and Camilla with a grin, "Point 5 Sibuna."
The three girls snuck back up the stairs, Amber whispering to Camilla, "When this is all done, you are going to be sorry you threw paint on Vera's car."
"Sorry?" Camilla questioned her friend, "I should have used something more acidic, like acid."
This comment caused Patricia to burst out laughing as she pushed open the bedroom door to see Alfie in there, with Nina and Fabian. All of them looking to the two girls covered in paint with questioning looks.
"Honestly," Amber told them all holding up her hands, "Don't even bother to ask."
Nina and Fabian nipped out of the room to check on Victor's sleep progress. Other than having a very distressed Vera who kept muttering about her car (Fabian instantly understood the white paint on his sister now) the man was yawning but he hadn't quite fallen asleep.
As the pair came back from their watch to update the rest of Sibuna they walked into Amber telling Camilla off with her throwing a pillow across the room at her.
"Cam, stop yawning, you're making me tired," Amber told the girl as she pushed away Alfie's hand. He had a torch and kept pointing it in people's faces.
"I'm making you tired?" Camilla smiled at her friend, "it's 2 in the morning, Amber if you're not tired there's something wrong with you." This comment caused Patricia to laugh.
None of their smiles dropped as they all looked towards the door as the pair slipped back inside the room.
"Okay, Victor's just got back to his office," Nina told them all as she sat down on her bed with Fabian. "He is looking pretty zombified. Now we just have to wait until he falls asleep and then we make our move."
"But in order to do we all need to stay awake," Camilla told them all, this was an important mission and thought it was late they needed to fight their sleepiness.
"We should do some things to keep our brains active," Fabian excitedly suggested, "Like chess!"
"Or we could tell spooky ghost stories!" Alfie suggested putting his torch under his chin.
"Aww Alfie, your stories are so boring," Patricia groaned causing the boy to look offended at her.
"How about we count sheep to keep us awake?" Amber offered as she pulled her cuddly toy sheep closer to her. This caused them all to chuckle, Patricia picking up the pillow Amber threw at Camilla and threw it back at the blonde.
"Counting sheep does not keep you awake Amber," she laughed, "it basically does the opposite."
"Oh..." the blonde replied, "that's why it's never worked." The moment she finished her sentence however she yawned.
"Amber no!" Fabian groaned as he saw her yawn.
"Fabian, we all need our beauty sleep," she told him, "Some of us more than others." Amber's yawning set of a chain reaction and before they knew it all of them had let out a yawn causing Nina to panic.
"No! don't... this is not good!" she said turning to Camilla who was the only one who seemed awake even if she did yawn too.
Camilla, Fabian and Nina were the only ones awake. Camilla had decided to sit in the most uncomfortable position she could so her body wouldn't feel the tiredness over the uncomfortably. She had her Grimoire out and was finishing off the stupid essay Victor had given her about magic usage and safety and blah blah blah. Trying not to listen in to her brother's conversation with Nina.
"I seriously thought he was going to explode," Fabian laughed, Nina chiming in sleepily.
"He's pretty highly strung, though he does seem to let his guard down around Camilla," Nina said.
"I know you've noticed we've been keeping something from you," Fabian said glancing to his sister who appeared to not be paying attention to them, "I want to tell you, but it's not my secret to tell."
"Is it? Is it dangerous?" Nina asked quietly, "whatever it is Camilla is doing with Victor."
"No... Camilla wouldn't throw herself into danger like that," Fabian missed the disbelieving look Nina shot him as she turned over on the bed. "last year was fun," Fabian softly reminisced, "I miss that you know,"
"What?"
"me, us... The whole Fabiana thing..." Fabian softly spoke. "we should give it another go." When he didn't get an answer, he looked up to see Nina had fallen asleep, causing him to sigh and lean back against the pillow he'd propped up against the bed.
When Camilla looked up from her completed essay, she was surrounded by snoring Sibuna's. she checked her watch; it had been about an hour since they had last checked on Victor so she was sure the man would be asleep. Camilla got to her feet, for a second, she thought about waking up one of the others to help her get the Amulets and then remembered Nina not trusting her to have even the spare one. She squared her shoulders and looked at the door in determination. She was going to prove she could be trusted; she was going to wow them all in the morning having gotten the amulets herself. So as quietly as she could she tiptoed around Alfie's sprawled out person on the floor – Patricia curled like a cat on Camilla's bed, Amber on her own bed – opening the door and slipping out into the hallway. The soft sound of the door shutting being enough to awaken Nina though Camilla didn't know.
As Camilla opened Victor's office door, she was welcomed by the sounds of loud snoring from the man who had fallen asleep with his face on the table. Camilla could see the amulets around his neck and whispered, "Motus," causing the man's head to lift gently from the desk, thankfully the man didn't wake at the movement.
"What are you doing?" Fabian's voice came from the door.
Camilla was glad she had heard the floorboards creak as the two crept along to his office or Victor's head would have slammed down onto his desk within seconds, "I have his head up, one of you take the amulets!" she hissed to the pair.
Fabian rushed to one side of Victor as Nina rushed to the other, grabbing scissors from the man's desk. They were going to have to cut the amulets from around his neck still even with Camilla holding his head up.
All three of them flinched at the sound of the material being cut, but Nina didn't stop once she started. As the strings fell onto the table Fabian collected the Amulets. The moment the last string was cut Camilla as gently as she could lowered Victor's head back onto The Book of Isis, that he had fallen asleep on, allowing Nina and Fabian to creep from the room before she followed them. The moment Victor's door clicked shut she felt a wave of relief wash over her as she expertly scampered back to the girl's bedroom. She could see from Fabian's face he had questions about why Camilla had gone alone but all that could be discussed in the morning.
