Series 2, Episode 35 ~ House of Fronts
"Mr Lewis!" Sweetie yelled, at Alfie who was leaning against the headteacher's door trying to open the door "get the door open so we can get the goose inside!"
Camilla's focus was on the goose, but she saw Alfie pop his head into the door before turning and shaking his head at Camilla. Jerome hadn't found the gem yet.
"Motus" Camilla murmured pushing the goose down the corridor further causing it to squawk loudly as it ran away from Mr Sweet's office and towards the student lounge.
"Miss Rutter watch out!" Mr Sweet shouted as the goose raced past Camilla, the headteacher grabbing her arm and pulling her to one side as the bird went to bite at her ankles. Mr Sweet charged after the goose as Alfie skidded up to Camilla in the hallway.
"We can't keep this up for much longer," Camilla said to Alfie quietly.
"Yeah, Jerome needs to hurry the hell up." Alfie nodded before the two took a deep breath and went back to helping Mr Sweet round up the goose.
The school was in utter chaos as they watched Alfie, Camilla and Mr Sweet run up and down the hallways chasing after a goose. Mr Sweet started to race towards his classroom shouting at the two teens about getting the goose into his office so it was enclosed in a safe space away from the students.
"This would be a lot easier if everyone would KEEP CALM!" The headteacher bellowed at students who were screaming as the goose ran up and down the corridors. "To the Office Alfie, Camilla!" he then instructed the two Anubis students who seemed to be helping him the most.
Mr Sweet opened his office and Alfie and Camilla ushered the goose in, Jerome popping out from behind the door and making it look as if he had been helping them the whole time with a concerned look on his face as Mr Sweet looked round. "Were you behind me the whole time Jerome?" Mr Sweet asked the boy.
Camilla, however, could see this prized Gem Jerome must have been after and couldn't help but add her own little revenge for the boy not telling her but tell Mara about his dad's task to find it, "Est Celare Per Omnia Saecula," she mumbled causing the Gem to shine brightly and the goose to look it's way.
Mr Sweet ushered the three students out of his office and locked the door behind him as he turned to look at the rest of the student body who were looking around in confusion. "Right, everyone!" He said as Alfie picked up the cage which they had placed by the lockers, "fun and games are over, nothing else to be seen here,"
"I am so sorry, Mr Sweet" Alfie told the headteacher with genuine sorrow, as the laughing student body dispersed to go back to classes.
"Mr Lewis," Mr Sweet looked at the boy panting a little out of breath, as he took in the cage that the boy was holding, "Can I presume from that cage, in your hands, this goose is yours?"
Camilla glanced at Jerome who had gotten to his hands and knees to look under the door crack to look for his Gem, causing Camilla to smirk as she knew fine well that he had a little while longer to wait for it.
"I don't know, all geese look the same to me," Alfie said causing Camilla to bit her bottom lip to stop herself from laughing as Jerome stood back up again. Mr Sweet gave Alfie a look causing the boy to nod his head, "I mean, yep, I'm looking after it for a... friend."
"So we will just go get-" Jerome spoke up walking towards the door, but Mr Sweet stood in his way.
"I am sorry, but nobody is going into that office while there is a wild goose on the loose!" Mr Sweet told them in a no-nonsense tone, "the three of you just go to your lessons and we will let the goose calm down, and then we will put the goose back in its cage." He explained to them as if it was that simple.
The three of them gave the headteacher a smile before moving down the corridor away from the office.
"So, how did you do?" Alfie asked Jerome.
"So close but yet so far!" Jerome groaned.
"And so much further to go," Camilla said mysteriously to them both with a smile that scared them both a little as she waved her fingers at them and moved off allowing the crowd of students to hide her from their view.
Camilla found a very confused looking Fabian as she and Amber left the girls bathroom and of course they had to find out what had caused him to be so... weird.
"What's wrong Fabian?" Camilla asked her brother.
"Down in the love dumps?" Amber asked the boy as he took a large drink of water from the water dispenser.
Fabian glanced at the two girls before letting out a sigh, "that's one way of putting it, is it that obvious?"
"Only two us," Amber said answering the boy's question, "though I am a dating guru," Amber said causing Fabian to look at Camilla for the reason she knew something was bothering him.
"Twin..." was all Camilla said simply as she pointed to herself causing Fabian's mouth to quirk into a smile.
"It's Nina isn't it?" Amber asked, but Camilla knew better and then asked.
"Or is it Joy?" she asked causing Fabian to nod his head with his twin's question.
Amber's face darkened, she had hoped Fabiana were back on after Camilla told her about what Fabian had said and the fact Nina clearly heard him (even if she was pretending, she didn't). "You're in love with Joy!" Amber screamed causing both twins to look her way in shock.
"Amber, indoor voice!" Fabian hissed at the blonde.
"Sorry," Amber said the two, but her glare didn't leave her face as she looked at Fabian.
Fabian looked around as if trying to pluck the right words from the air around him, before he spoke to the formidable duo the girls posed, "I'm not in love with her," he insisted, grabbing their arms and pulling them into the slightly emptier student lounge, "but, I think she's trying to ask me out."
"So, the hunter has circled her pray," Amber told Camilla with a wise nod as Fabian sat himself down looking flummoxed.
"it's been long enough," Camilla commented as the two girls sat down either side of the boy.
Fabian looked between them as the words they spoke finally computed in his head, "sorry guys, what now?"
Of course, neither girl repeated what they said, "so you are trying to put her off?" Camilla asked, just making sure. As much as she was totally team Fabiana if Joy was what Fabian wanted – as Nina said he was a free man now.
"You have done the right thing coming to the guru and her fabulous assistant for advice, Fabian," Amber told him not giving him a chance to answer Camilla's question.
"I didn't I –" Fabian stuttered but Amber didn't care.
"Because thanks to my experiences with Mick and Alfie, I'm well versed in all facets of love and general relationship dramatics," Amber told him wisely missing his glance to Camilla who was not helping as she fake nodded to Amber's words as if they were words from the gods themselves.
"Ehhh..." Fabian responded as he realised he was not getting out this conversation anytime soon. "do your worse..." he told the pair with a defeated sigh.
"Perfect," Camilla smiled looping her arm in Fabian's leaning her chin on his shoulder and giving him support as Amber got to business. Both twins smiling as Fabian leaned his head on top of Camilla's as the looked Amber's way.
"Okay," the Love Guru started, missing the slightly amused look that passed between the twins as she spoke, "whatever you do, don't say yes; because you will give her the wrong impression and you will upset her."
Camilla nodded along with Amber's advice; it was solid. "I mean, not saying yes was pretty much going to be my first..." Fabian started.
"Oh Fabby, there is so more," Camilla told him. Fabian looked at her with wide eyes before glancing to Amber who nodded her head in agreement with Camilla.
"This is where it gets tricky," Amber warned him with a serious look on her face. Fabian grabbed Camilla's hand at the look from Amber – not scared to admit it scared him a little. "whatever you do," Amber advised again, "don't say no either."
Fabian looked even more flummoxed than he did when the girls approached him. he glanced to Camilla who seemed to be following Amber's advice as if the girl was just recollecting the alphabet or something. "what? That just sounds confusing." He honestly told the two girls. "why can't I just say no?"
"because then you'll seem hard to get," Camilla told him honestly. "And if there is one thing use girls want is someone we can't have." Amber sent Camilla a sad smile as she spoke knowing that that little bit of advice came from her own personal life at the moment.
Jerome wanted Mara; he was her someone she couldn't have.
Though both girls had had a very in-depth conversation about her love life and predicament she found herself in because of it, and both had come to the agreement to wait a little before she pursued anything with Jerome. Camilla had just healed her heart from the year before. She didn't want some rebound relationship and Amber insisted that Jerome could be her 'Epic Love' if those existed. Maybe let the boy have his weirdness with Mara for a while until the time was right to say to him, that he had another option he clearly hadn't even realised was there.
Of course, Fabian missed all of this as he looked down at his and Camilla's hands in confusion over Camilla's words.
"So, don't say yes, but don't say no," Amber told him as if it was the simplest thing in the world.
"What do I say to put her off?" Fabian sighed.
"Don't worry we've just started silly," Amber smiled at him causing Fabian to slump back against the seat causing Camilla to laugh.
Fabian's love pep talk went on for a while, Camilla having to leave the riving advice when Mr Sweet called for Camilla to help him, Jerome and Alfie with the goose (she had been one of the three to let it loose so, of course, she had to help round it up).
The four of them peered into the head teacher's office suspiciously, the goose had gone quiet about half an hour ago and they all found that rather odd.
"Ready Lewis? Rutter? Clarke?" Mr Sweet whispered to the two. The plan was simple, Alfie would hold the cage open whilst Mr Sweet and Camilla would try to persuade the goose to go into it. Jerome was there for 'back up' but Camilla and Alfie knew he would be looking for his gem – which was too bad because Camilla knew the Goose would have probably eaten it, or she really hoped the goose had.
As one the three troublemakers spoke, "we were born ready Sir."
"Good chaps." Mr Sweet nodded as if they were going into battle, not rounding up a goose. Which in Amun Academy was probably as close to a battle as they could get. "3, 2, 1! GO!" With that Mr Sweet pushed open the door.
Alfie instantly ran around one side of the desk, cage in hand, whereas Mr Sweet and Camilla rounded the other side instantly trapping the goose into a small space causing it to start squawking loudly. The goose kept trying to dive between gaps but they were ready for it and with a lot of effort it seemed to realise the only place for it to go was the cage.
The three stood up triumphantly Alfie carrying the cage with the very angry goose in it, Jerome stood too as he had been searching the ground for the gem.
"Ah!" Mr Sweet looked pleased as he glanced between the students, "that wasn't too hard, in the end, was it!" he said as he adjusted his pale blue waistcoat. "Excellent teamwork you two!" he pointed to Alfie and Camilla who gave him bright smiles." The man then looked around his slightly messy office, "Well let's get this place tidied up."
"And we will leave you too that sir," Jerome instantly said as he held the door open for Camilla.
"Oh, you will, will you?" Mr Sweet sounded doubtful, "I think you'll find you three will be on clearing up duty after you've turned our little visitor," Mr Sweet gave the cage a fond smile, missing the annoyed look between the three friends. They all looked to one another but knew not to argue with the man, he honestly could have given them a worst punishment than cleaning up as they had just let loose a wild goose into the halls of the school.
The three made their way from the office and Jerome shut the door behind them.
"Well," Alfie asked.
"Nothing," Jerome groaned, looking at Camilla as she laughed.
"To hide in a place unseen" she murmured looking at the goose cage with a smirk.
That is when it clicked causing Jerome to gasp, "You magicked the gem so the goose would... You are evil," Jerome said after a moment, pointing at Camilla.
"That is pure magic," Alfie added, from behind him still looking a little shell shocked as he finally understood what had just happened, "Evil, but magic."
"What you wanted the Gem didn't you?" She asked innocently turning to look at them before the smirked appeared on her face as she waved her fingers at them before walking down the corridor laughing.
"You know," Alfie said watching the girl go from behind the cage, "she scares me sometimes."
"Sometimes it feels like me and Cam are destined to annoy each other for the rest of our lives," Jerome murmured, thinking Alfie wouldn't hear but he did. Causing the boy to look at him sceptically before shaking his head and the two moving off after her. He thought the two were destined for something but to annoy each other wasn't that.
Amber and Nina had organised a Sibuna meeting in their room that evening, and Camilla had watched from the safety of her bed as the two found all the string in the house and had created webs all over the room.
Patricia's shocked faced summed up the madness perfectly as she entered the room, with Fabian and Alfie on her heels, "One word; WOW." She said as she took in the webs.
"How did you do this?" Fabian asked as he and Alfie followed Patricia's lead as she navigated the webs to the middle where Nina and Amber where. The girls had decided to use their beds as the 'hook's and the door to their room was to be the giant spider.
"We did a smash and grab in the art room," Amber explained.
"Okay guys," Nina said as she turned to Camilla and motioned for her to join them causing the girl to groan. Thankfully she wasn't in shoes that made it hard for her to navigate the webs (in fact she was in Alfie's joggers and a hoodie she had 'borrowed' from Eddie. "Practice time."
Yeah," Camilla spoke as she climbed through the webs, "because its going to take us a lot of practice to get good at this. Better we get all the errors out here. Trial and error. Mostly error. Like, a crapload of error," she mumbled causing them all to laugh at her as she popped up beside Amber after ringing only 2 bells.
"We need to get from here to one of the beds, without touching any strings." Nina explained the plan.
"We know silver threads give us a sting," Alfie said as he pinging one of the white threats representing that.
"What about others?" Patricia asked.
"We don't know yet, it's probably bad though," Nina told the girl.
"I don't want to volunteer and find out either," Camilla added causing the goth pixie to nod her head in understanding.
"let's get going," Amber said with a confident smile.
Patricia scoffed as she glanced at the heels on the girl's feet. The rest of them had gone for flats (or in Camilla's case fluffy bed socks) and Amber was in strappy wedge heels. "Amber? Are those the right kind of shoes for web walking?"
"These are my web wedges Patricia," Amber defiantly countered, "you are talking to a girl who can deadly hopscotch in formal wear," this caused Nina, Camilla and Fabian to look to one another and nod. The girl had done that.
Amber then proceeded to try to cross the room over to her bed. However, she only got so far before the charm bracelet Alfie had gotten her for Christmas (and the Anubis house members all had bought her charms for) got stuck on a yellow thread. "I'm snagged!" She yelled, Camilla, glancing to Nina before she navigated her way to Amber and unhooked her from the red string, she had gotten herself attached too.
"MAN DOWN!" Alfie called good-naturedly.
"How are those web wedges working out for you Amber?" Patricia asked as Camilla made her way towards the girl.
"We need much more practice," Nina said as Camilla got to work unhooking Amber.
"And I suggest a dress code of no heels or clothes that snag," Patricia said.
Amber turned to the group looking excited at that rule, "oh yay, task outfits!" she said looking over them all. All of them knowing that Amber was going to be raiding their wardrobes to make them all have appropriate outfits that all looked good as a team unit – once their day's practice was done of course.
