Chapter 19

I don't own gacha world

I woke with a start, the dream had been so vivid and looked so real, just like last time. I just hoped I had not been asleep for several days this time, a quick glance over at the gacha sword told me the dream had been real. There were 4 new stones in it's hilt and they all glowed with different colors, probably signifying different powers.

3rd POV

Sora quickly hopped off the bed and got dressed, today was the day she and Cyto were going to climb up the tower and banish the corruption. With her clothes on and her sword across her back, sora opened the door and walked down the hallway towards the stairs. Cyto greeted her downstairs with a bowl of instant oatmeal.

"Alright so we're headed into pretty much hell right?" Sora asked through a mouthful of breakfast.

"Yes, from what i've seen for the past several weeks is that the weird corruption sword that you and Ellie talked about spews forth tons of monsters all of the time. They are probably summoned by an extremely powerful user. Damn if only we had my friend luna with us, she was good at hacking through the programs of Xkour." Cyto's eyes shimmered faintly as he fought to hold back tears that were called from the memories of his lost friends.

"Hey it's ok, I'm sure that we can save your friends." The summoner put a hand on Cyto's shoulder and gave him a big smile.

"Thanks, you're right! We can save them!" and with that Cyto stood up and started double checking his gear, Sora just leaned against the wall, a faint smile on her face. But that smile soon faded when the entire building shook. "Oooh boy, we have got to go now!" the blue teen zoomed past Sora and out the door. With a quick pull to unsheathe her sword the gacha summoner quickly followed.

Monsters were everywhere, milling the streets and climbing the buildings. The moment that Sora and Cyto sped out of the building they had been hiding in all the monsters started converging on their position. Anger was painted all across Sora's face as she brought down her sword upon goblin after bat after skull mage. The monsters fell before her like wheat before a scythe, her blade was painted with death and her eyes glowed with power.

Fire raced down the gacha sword surprising Sora as she continued to run forward, the flames licked the air, as if wanting to be released from whatever control was holding it back. All the blood splattered on the ground made the air smell metallic which excited Sora for some reason. A laugh bubbled out of her and soon she was grinning wickedly as the bodies of her enemies were split open with her sword.

Cyto glanced back at Sora from time to time to make sure that she wasn't falling behind. But to his surprise she was directly behind him, all the monsters behind her brutally killed, their bodies all mangled and lying on the ground.

"Come on Cyto! We have work to do!" Sora laughed before racing ahead. And enemies to kill! She thought to herself. The pair continued getting closer and closer to the source of the corruption, but as they did more and more monsters spawned and attacked them. They fought for what seemed like hours, stuck a block away from the tower.

"Come on Sora! We have to try a different way!" Cyto yelled over the sound of the goblin war cries.

"No! I won't be beaten by these weaklings!" Sora yelled back, her sword's fire grew and she let out an even louder war cry then the monsters as she launched herself into the air. Her sword held high above her and her eyes burning with green flames, she would not be beaten this way. When Sora landed on the ground she rolled and stabbed her blade deep into the street and forced all her power into fueling the flames that her sword were emitting.

Tears grew around the edges of her eyes as faded memories broke from whatever was holding them back. Memories of not being strong enough to protect people, not being strong enough to protect herself. All the pain and sorrow from her life before being chosen flooded her body, the tears streamed down her face as her body was wracked with sobs.

"Sora… you don't need to be strong… you only need to be there for me… this power I helped give you was too much for you right now… Sora… this was my fault, and now I'm going to help you realize that true strength… doesn't come from power… it comes from the people around us… be safe big brother" a voice whispered into Sora's ear, and the flames surrounding her sword vanished without a trace.

"S-sis?" Sora whispered, and in response a warm feeling touched her cheek. But there was no one there… but that was ok for Sora, she knew someone had saved her from being consumed by the power of her sword. And now she was going to save this world, the gacha sword's hilt was now bare, there were no longer any stones embedded in it. More monsters started to crawl, fly, and run towards Sora. but everything around her seemed so bland, there was nothing really worth looking at except the sky. The bloody gacha summoner tilted her head back as the rain began to fall around.

Cyto crouched panting a street back and what he saw caused his heart to leap inside his throat, panic seized him and he started running to Sora as monsters surrounded her. The rain made things hard to see but there was a flash of golden light and then there was nothing around Sora. the teen was staring straight at Cyto, her green irises glowing angrily.

"Alright, i'm done playing" Sora hissed, she was cold and wet now and her cat half hated it. Gnashing her teeth together the summoner leapt atop of a lamp post and launched herself from there onto the window sill. The sword of corruption was atop of the building in front of her, and Sora would do everything she could to destroy it.

With the familiar burning feeling growing in her chest, Sora dropped to the street and ran back towards Cyto.

"Alright what's the plan?" Cyto asked, but instead of getting an answer Sorsa stopped and shot straight towards the skyscraper and started running up it. Cyto's jaw dropped, this guy is insane he thought to himself as he watched.

Sora kept on running as her legs begged for rest and as her lungs burned for breath, the burning in her chest growing more and more painful with every step closer she got to the top. She would do this for Ellie, she would do this for Sister! Rain continued to pummel her and soak her clothes. Finally Sora stood at the edge of the building's roof, steam billowing from her mouth and her sword held weakly in her right hand.

"Cyto… where are you…" said a black and purple hooded teen in front of sora, could this be Luna? The teen turned around exposing purple hair and eyes filled with corruption, Luna tilted her head, madness emanating from her entire body.

"Give me back my friends!" She screamed, grabbing at Sora's throat and sending both of them tumbling off of the tower. The air rushed around them, but none of it made it into Sora's lungs, Luna was choking her as they both fell to their deaths.
