Tino hugged Sofia around the shoulders. "Thank you for everything today."
She patted him on the back gently. "Oh, it was nothing dear!" She pulled back and smiled at the two men. "You two have fun! I'll be here if you need me." She waved as Berwald took Tino's hand and they walked out the door together.
Tino smiled a huge smile. Berwald smiled a smaller, but still happy smile. They walked down the front steps and into the street. It was a little after noon in Lapland, so the sun was starting to set. Tino pulled Berwald closer to him as they walked. He pointed at a sign by the side of the road. Together, they talked about what to do that day.
"How about that sauna?" Tino tapped a little square on the map. "That sounds nice!"
"Sure." Berwald smiled, just happy to see Tino happy. He would've been fine just sitting next to Tino, enjoying his presence, but a sauna did sound nice.
"Alright!" Tino pulled Berwald after him in the cold air. Laughing a little he tramped through the snow, holding Berwald's hand. Berwald kept smiling, he had to hurry to keep up with Tino.
They stopped outside the doors to the check-in desk of the sauna. Tino lifted himself up on his toes to kiss Berwald's cheek. Then led him inside.
Switzerland sat on the edge of the lawn, glass in hand he watched the battles rage all over Norway's house. He saw Spain on the roof fighting Denmark. Hungary and Bulgaria were on the ground in the front yard, wrestling to the death. The three Baltics had teamed up and were fighting Prussia. Germany and England were sparring on the front porch, and Switzerland knew many more fights were ensuing in the house.
"It's really a beautiful day, isn't it big brother?" Liechtenstein was laying flat on the ground next to him, looking up at the clouds.
"Yes. I suppose it is." He took a drink out of his glass and continued watching the battles unfold. "Though it's a shame Christmas will be so warm this year." He looked up at the sky. "Global warming really is getting serious, if all the way in Norway he still isn't getting snow."
"And the new war?" Liechtenstein asked.
Switzerland sighed. "Yes, I suppose that's a shame too."
"Come on Norway, wake up!" Iceland tried to shake his brother. They were inside Norway's house, in his extra-bedroom-turned-spell-casting-chamber. "You have to get up." Norway had passed out after bringing them back to his house, which was threatened with destruction by the fights breaking out everywhere.
Norway lay unresponsive on the floor, Iceland took a deep breath. Resigned to his fate, he did what had to be done.
"Big Brother? Come on, wake up!" He held his breath.
Norway's eyes fluttered open. "H-hey Ice." His voice was still flat and monotone, but Iceland could tell he was happy.
"Norway! You have to do something! Everyone's just fighting and-" The door to the bedroom burst open as Austria pushed Portugal through, their long swords clashed as they yelled insults at each other. They fought roughly for a few more minutes before Portugal gained momentum and pushed Austria back out the door. More yelling issued from the halls of the house.
"Ice, what's happening?" Norway tried to sit up.
'We got here and China and Russia were here and Denmark told them to back off, but then everyone started fighting and more countries showed up. So now there's a war." Putting his hand on Norway's shoulder, Iceland helped him get steady on his feet.
"I think we just need to bring Finland and Sweden back, that should help set everything straight…" Norway stumbled over to the wooden desk, upon which was a big leather book. He flipped through the pages. He raised his hands and started chanting; the floor around him started to glow.
Tino leaned against Berwald's shoulder peacefully. His eyes felt heavy, he started to drift on to sleep.
"T'no-" Tino looked up to see Berwald looking at him worriedly. He looked around for the problem, and found it. His left arm was disintegrating into a fine mist.
"What's happening?!" Tino scrambled upright, trying to get away from his own arm, but only really managing to move away from Berwald.
Berwald stood up and moved closer to Tino. He put his arms around his shoulders and held Tino tight. "It's okay, I'm here."
"What do ya mean 'it's okay'? I'm MELTING!" Still, he didn't try to struggle, only holding his arm straight out in front of him to watch it disappear. His hand couldn't be seen and his shoulder was starting to go as well.
Berwald just sat and held Tino. "I l've you, whatever happens." He pushed his nose against Tino's hair.
"Me too. I-" Tino felt one of Berwald's arms start to fade away from around him. They were both melting. "I love you." He turned and put his still existing arm around Berwald. They sat there in silence. Two lovers disappearing.
Ladonia sat up. He felt fine, but he couldn't remember where he was, or why he suddenly felt so short, or why Hong Kong was fighting Belgium with a bread knife. He sat up, Sealand was next to him on the kitchen floor. He was just waking up too. They looked at each other for a minute in total confusion, then ducked as more nations leaped over their heads to fight.
Sweden woke up with a start. His hands were empty. Why did he feel like he should be holding something? He looked around. Finland was watching him curiously. Before Sweden had time to ask what was going on, the floor under him started to rumble.
"Alright! I don't know why you're fighting, but I do know it's probably Germany's fault, so you should all stop before Santa gets really mad at everyone!" An energetic voice called from the front yard. Finland pulled Sweden over his shoulder and pulled him outside to join almost fifty other nations.
America stood on the driveway with a microphone as he called for all the nations to stop and listen to him. Japan and Canada stood to either side of him, decked out in Kevlar and looking a little confused as to why they were America's new bodyguards.
Amid all the confusion, Finland looked up at Sweden. "Hey, do- do you remember anything before right now?" Sweden noticed Finland was blushing, he hoped it wasn't because Finland was scared of him.
"I w's on a boat with Iceland, w' were taking a f'shing trip, right?" Sweden looked down at Finland's face.
"Oh, okay." Finland tried to turn his attention back to America's orders for everyone to stop fighting. But watching his expression, Sweden kept his eyes on Finland. He couldn't tell if He looked relieved, or sad, or just confused. I hope this isn't because of what I did the other night. Sweden thought about the last night he could remember, where he'd sent Finland a lily trying to convey his feelings. What if it just freaked him out?
For once, Sweden didn't care what the other nations around him thought. He wrapped his arms around Finland and stood there. No-one saw them, but they stood there together. And for once Finland didn't resist, he just leaned back into Sweden.
