Scorpius stared at Rose, dumbfounded.
"You're pregnant?"
"Yes," Rose answered, shaking in apprehension.
"But...when…"
"Easter. Got a bit too excited, didn't prepare ourselves."
"So you're"
"Two, maybe three months along."
Scorpius sat down on his bed. I thought we were smarter than this! How did we even allow one slip?!
"So what are we going to do?" Scorpius asked.
"We?" Rose said, hopeful.
"Yes, Rose, we. Afterall, you did just become my fiancée."
Rose sat down beside him, quickly grabbing his hand. She laid her head on his shoulder, staring at the wall with him. I thought we were smarter than this.
"Have you told anyone else?"
Rose shook her head, "I suspected it. I took a last minute trip to Hogsmeade and bought a test. I took it as soon as I got home."
Scorpius sighed and straightened up, "Well there's one thing we have to do. We have to tell our parents."
"Oh, God...my dad's gonna kill you."
"He'll have to wait in line," Scorpius stood up, pacing, "My dad's gonna strangle me, then he's gonna kick me out, then he's gonna have a change of heart a week later, and then he's gonna strangle me again. Then Albus will come and do the same, then your brother, then James, then Fred, and Roxy, and Lily, oh my God...I hope our son or daughter is prepared to be an only child, because my bits aren't surviving this."
Rose chuckled at Scorpius's ramble. She really needed his cute and clumsy humor to get her through.
"You never know...there could be twins."
What little color remaining on Scorpius's face vanished at the thought of being a father to twins at 17.
"Don't even joke about that, Rose...how do we do this? How do we tell our parents?"
Their thinking was interrupted by two knocks and the door opening. Rose had only seen Scorpius's father in passing, so to have her first meeting with him right now was a bit nerve racking.
"Oh, I didn't know you had company, Scorpius," Draco said, wondering what Rose was even doing here. Did her parents know she was
"Dad, she's pregnant."
It was now that Rose had finally understood the phrase "the silence is deafening." The only noise she could hear was her heartbeat and the breath of her and Scorpius, because his father was definitely not breathing.
"Pregnant…" Draco repeated, as if saying the word for the first time.
The two of them nodded their heads, waiting for him to respond.
"This isn't a joke?"
The two of them shook their heads. Draco looked at Rose and saw the ring on her finger. The same rings he showed Scorpius not just thirty minutes ago.
"I can see you asked her to marry you as well," Draco told Scorpius in a suspicious tone.
"She told me she was pregnant after I proposed," Scorpius answered, a bit defensive.
Draco closed his eyes, and took in a very deep breath before letting it out. He opened his eyes and looked directly at Rose before saying, "Welcome to the family."
Now it was their turn to be dumbfounded. They were expecting screaming, a bit of swearing, maybe some badass dueling...but they can roll with acceptance.
Scorpius went to his father and hugged him, Draco hugging back tightly.
They both let go and Scorpius asked, "That fast?"
Draco shrugged, "What's done is done. If you want, I'll take both of you to the Weasley's place. I really want to see Weasel's face when you tell him the news."
He laughed at their paling faces and exited the room.
"Together?" Rose asked, gesturing towards the fireplace she came out of.
"Together."
Hermione was wondering where Rose had gone after she saw her at Platform 9 ¾. She had a fleeting suspicion that she was hiding something. When she came out of the fireplace with Scorpius in tow, she knew almost immediately.
"Oh my god, you're pregnant."
The two teens stopped in their tracks, wide eyed, confirming Hermione's suspicion.
"Well that was quick," Scorpius whispered to Rose.
"I'll say," Hermione said, a slight edge to her voice, "Rose, you are barely out of your sixth year. Your seventh year is coming up! How are you going to...what were you two thinking?! When did you even get the opportunity to"
"Easter," Rose answered before Hermione finished the question.
"When we sent you two to get eggs?!"
"We were being safe the other times, but...you know the saying, one slip up is enough."
"Well this is a hell of a slip up!" Hermione was starting to yell.
"Please, Mrs. Weasley, don't get angry at her,"
"I'm angry at the both of you! Rose, how are you going to be raising a child by yourself, huh?"
"She won't be raising a child by herself, she'll have me," Scorpius answered with conviction.
Hermione softened a bit, but was still understandably angry.
"Of course she's going to have you, but...when is it due?"
"I'd say probably around late December, early January," Rose estimated.
"What's around early January?" Ron asked as he entered the living room.
He looked at the distraught faces of Rose and Hermione and the nervous face of Scorpius.
"What's going on? Rose isn't pregnant is she?"
He chuckled at his own joke for a second until his expression soured when the others didn't join in.
"Is she?" Ron asked again, seriously this time.
"Dad, before you get angry…"
"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Ron screamed at Scorpius, grabbing his wand.
"RON!" Hermione screamed as Ron cast a chain of spells at Scorpius, all them deflected by Rose's shield charms.
Scorpius waved his hand and Ron froze on the spot. He knew the wandless silent charm his dad taught him would be useful.
"Yes, Rose is pregnant," Scorpius stated calmly, "Yes, I got her pregnant. And yes, before you ask, that is a ring on her finger that I gave her before she told me the news. We will take care of our child, and we will finish our studies. If you wish it of us, we'll even hide the pregnancy from others. I am taking full responsibility for this. My dad already knows, and he has welcomed Rose into the family. I only hope that you can accept me into yours."
Scorpius lowered his hand and Ron ran towards him, grabbing him by the throat and pushing him against the wall.
"DAD!" Rose yelled, her yell being what finally made Hugo come down the stairs.
"What's going on?" Hugo asked.
Hearing his son's voice, Ron eased up a bit.
"Full responsibility?" Ron echoed.
"Yes," Scorpius was able to get out.
Ron relented and let go of Scorpius before going into the kitchen and downing a whole bottle of firewhiskey. Scorpius, meanwhile, was taking a few breaths.
"Well," he started, "could've been a helluva lot worse."
"Oh, it's not over yet," said Hermione, "You two still have to tell the rest of the family."
Hermione left to make sure her husband hadn't drank the whole cabinet as Rose and Scorpius looked at each other in worry.
Hugo, still confused, asked, "Tell them what? What did I miss?"
"Oh my God!" Albus exclaimed in shock.
"What is it?" his dad asked.
Albus looked up from the letter and said, "Rose is pregnant."
"She's what?" Neville asked, wondering if he heard Cassie right.
"Pregnant!" Cassie repeated.
"Are you certain?" Ginny asked.
"Yes, look at the letter," Albus said, handing his mother the letter, "It's written in Scorpius's handwriting."
"So it is," Hannah said after Cassie handed her the note, recognizing the dots that Rose always used in her i's.
"Wait," August interrupted, "Rose really is pregnant?"
"You'd figure she'd be the smartest out of us," James quipped before being slapped on both arms by his mother and Lily.
A/N: And the end has begun. The final chapter in my Scorpius Malfoy trilogy. The Time Master's Ring will, like it's two other predecessors, be 7 chapters, each of them taking place in the months of Rose's pregnancy. Sorry for the wait, senior year is a bitch. The next chapter will also likely be a bit of a wait, but I am determined to finish not only this, but the epilogue that will be posted separately. Spoiler Alert: It's a happy ending. Stay tuned for More Announcements (Month 4).
