Hey guys! So, I changed a bit of the formatting so then two chapters is the equivalent of one episode. So I'll be updating once or twice a month since the chapters are longer. Thanks for reading and thanks for the reviews, follows, and favorites!
The man sat in a pitch black room, a squire bot by his side. The only light in the room came from an old beat up television. The squire bot flipped through the channels on the tv. Just a bunch of boring shows. The squire bot finally landed on the news. "Hi, folks! I'm Herb Herbertson with the Knighton News Network, reporting live from the celebration party at the palace! What are we celebrating, you ask? Well, unless you were living under a rock, you would know we're celebrating the knights' victory over the Collossus!" Herb announced on the television.
The man rolled his eyes. "Or if you're living in a super secure bunker," he commented. The newscaster went on with his broadcast. "I'm here with Clay Moorington, knight of the realm. Tell me Clay, what went down here today?" he asked a young knight in blue. The blue knight looked nervous on camera. His arm was glowing a bright orange. The squire bot nudged the man next to him. "What?" the man asked. "Look," the squire replied. The man looked at the tv screen.
A female knight in red ran up to the one in blue. "Hey Clay! Show him the cool trick you can do!" she exclaimed. He blushed. The blue knight clearly wasn't comfortable with all the attention. "Oh, okay," he said uneasy. He stuck out his glowing palm and it shone brighter. Suddenly, a blast of energy shot from his hand and disappeared in the distance. Herb jumped back. "Woah! That's a pretty cool trick!" he said.
The man watching the tv jumped to his feet. "Was that..." He began. The squire bot nodded. "Magic," he finished for his master. The man strode throughout his bunker and turned off the tv. "Sir, what are you doing?" the squire bot questioned. The man pulled on a old worn down cape and an intimidating horned helmet that covered his face. "Finishing up some old business."
Clay watched as his magic blast fizzled away. "Woah, that's a pretty cool trick!" Herb commented into his microphone. Then he went on with his report, but Clay wasn't really listening. He moved out to the palace balcony and stared outward. "Watcha thinking about?" Macy asked appearing next to him. He let out a sigh and moved his eyes across the kingdom. "Your mother?" she wondered solemnly.
The knight in blue nodded. She scooted closer to him. "Don't worry, we'll find her," she reassured. He gave her a comforting smile. "I hope you're right. But what about Jestro?" he asked. She thought a minute. "I think he's cleaning up and then he'll be sent to the palace jail," she said. "But they have to know it wasn't his fault! Monstrox did something to him!" Clay said. Macy looked down at her hands. "I think he'll be given a trial. I try to talk to my dad about it," she said. He smiled at her. "Thank you, Macy," he said.
"No problem. Now, come on, let's enjoy this party!" she cheered. "I don't know, I don't feel like I deserve it," he said, his mind other places. She put her hands on her hips. "No way! You totally deserve this! We fought of a stinking Collossus, for crying out loud!" she said. He still was unsure. "Just look at how much fun Lance, Aaron, and Axl are having!" she said pointing to the three.
The scene played out awkwardly. Hamletta had somehow gotten stuck on Aaron's hover shield and Lance and Aaron were standing on Axl's shoulders, trying to get her down. Lance stretched as high as he could to reach his sweetheart. He grabbed onto the shield but slipped, causing their human tower to come crumbling down. The three knights along with the shield and pig sat in an uncomfortable pile. They burst into laughter.
"Keep working!" a guard shouted at the jester. Jestro continued sweeping up the glass remains of the Collossus. He sighed. It didn't help his mood that Arnoldie was there too. Jestro wasn't very fond of the artist. "Sure made quite a mess, eh?" Arnoldie commented. Jestro rolled his eyes. "Oh, just shut it. You're as responsible for this as I am, if not more," he snapped. "If not more? What are you talking about?" a guard demanded. "Monstrox was controlling me! Arnoldie went willfully. I'm just as innocent as Clay was," the jester said. The guard thought it over.
"We'll look deeper into it. For now, keep cleaning!" he said. Jestro looked back at the mess. It looked like they would be there for a long time.
Ruina snuck through the forest. In her hand she held a large glass shard. She had to get as far away from the palace as possible if she wanted to bring back her master Monstrox. As she came to an open patch in the forest, she heard rustling in the bushes. She stopped. If it was a knight, their plan would be short lived. She stood her ready, her wand clutched tightly in her hand.
She heard speaking, though it was barely audible. As they grew closer, so did the speaking. "I told you we're going the wrong way," one voice said. It sounded mechanical, like a squire bot. "Yeah, yeah, I get it!" someone else said.
Emerging from the bushes came a man dressed in old rustic armor and a large cape. His helmet didn't allow much of his face to show. Behind him was a squire bot, his chest painted navy blue with an emblem long since scratched off of him. They stopped when they saw Ruina. "Who are you?" she demanded. The man bowed at her. "You can call me Rift and this is my squire, Ace," he said. She put a hand on her hip and raised an eyebrow. He spoke in a rigid deep voice, probably effected by his helmet.
The man stood up straight again. "May I ask what your name is?" he questioned. "Ruina Stoneheart," she said coldly. "What's going on up there?" Monstrox's voice came from the crystal. "Is that..." Rift began. She hid the glass behind her back. "It's none of your business!" she said. Rift put both his hands on his hips. He thought a minute. "Trying to bring back Monstrox? I want in," he said. Ruina was surprised at this. "Who says we're hiring?" she said, and turned to walk away. A double sided sword landed in her path. She turned back to him. "I said I want in."
Ruina turned to face Rift. "Fine. If you can beat me, you can help us," she said. "Deal," he said. His squire bot took a step back. "Oh ho, this'll be fun," Monstrox said.
He threw a handful of small sphere shaped bombs at her. They popped in clouds of smoke. She coughed on the gas. From behind her, Rift kicked her to the ground. She grunted at him and sent a ball of electricity his way. Ducking, he slid to reclaim his sword. He jumped to his feet and thrust his double sided sword for her. Ruina was able just barely to evade it and smacked it away with her wand. The two pressed hard against each other. "Might I just say, your eyes are beautiful," he teased. She rolled her eyes and shoved him too the ground.
"We should have these fights more often," he added. He laid on his back on the earth. She shot more electricity forward, but he rolled out of the way. "Oh, just shut up!" she said. Several blasts of electricity came for him. Using his blade, he deflected them. "Is that the best you've got?" he said. She grumbled at him. "Quit talking! This is a fight, not a meet and greet!" She swept for his legs with her wand.
Rift did a flip over her and landed with a slide. He spun around and threw some more smoke bombs. As she was blinded, he tossed a few triangle gadgets around her. The triangles transformed into an electrical cage. She frowned angrily. "Oh, I like him," Monstrox said from the glass shard. Ruina pulled him out of her pocket. "No! You can not expect me to work with this guy!" she said. Rift crossed his arms and watched her from outside the cage. Finally, she gave in. "Ugh! Alright! But for the record, you and I are not friends!" she let out.
Rift pressed a button on a remote. The electrical cage turned off and the triangles folded themselves into smaller ones.
Stepping over puddles, Ruina picked up her dress. It had started raining while they were walking. Beads of rain rolled off of Rift's helmet. Ace held the glass shard containing Monstrox. The robot spoke with a British accent. "Sir, where are we going? Is it safe to travel in the rain?" he asked. "You got a worry wart squire bot?" Ruina commented. Rift shrugged. "He's good company."
"Where are we going anyway?" Ruina questioned. Rift stepped over a large bush. "My hideout. We could use it as a base of operations, and find a way to bring Monstrox back," he said. They walked a little further until they found themselves at the heart of the forest. "Well, here we are," Rift said, gesturing to around them with his arms. Ruina put a hand on her hip. "This is nothing but jungle," she complained. Rift held up a finger. "Eh! Not just any part of the jungle," he said. He tapped his foot on the ground twice and the floor opened up. It had a trailing staircase that went deep underground.
"Oh, underground base! Neat!" Monstrox cheered. Rift motioned for Ruina to go inside. "After you, malady," he said. She frowned and rolled her eyes at him. The possy of four went down into the bunker.
Ruina was disgusted by their new bunker. There was a lot of old pizza boxes littered around the floor. Rift showed them to a table with a few dirty dishes and paper plates. "Excuse the mess," he said. Ruina rolled her eyes. Ace set the Monstrox shard on the table. Rift unrolled some dusty blueprints. "Alright, I've got an idea for this machine," Rift explained. The blue prints held an image for what looked like spider legs. "It'll transfer someone's spirit into a hologram," he added.
"Merlok's got a spell for that," Ruina put in. She imagined him smiling under his helmet. "Great, because the machine doesn't actually work. At least, not without magic. But I was thinking we could use it on Monstrox," he said. "Do you know the spell?" Ace asked. The witch put a finger to her chin. "No, he wouldn't ever show me his advanced spells when we were younger," she said disappointed.
"I say we steal it," Monstrox suggested. Ace looked puzzled. "And how do you suppose we do that?" he asked. "Worry bot has a point. He's guarded by those Nerdo Knights," Ruina added. "Actually it's Ace," Ace corrected, but she didn't care. Monstrox let out an evil laugh. "How about a diversion?"
Rift and Ace snuck through the castle grounds. A walkie talkie built into his helmet buzzed. "Are you in position?" Ruina asked from the other end. "Almost, sweet cheeks," he replied. He could hear her sigh on the other end. "Don't call me that! I hate you, but Monstrox is forcing me to work with you," she grumbled.
Ace trailed behind his master. A few guards walked by. Rift and Ace hid behind a few decorative statues. Rift held his breath so he wouldn't give away his location. When the guards passed, he let out a thankful sigh. The team crept into the kings quarters. Fortunately for them, no one was there since everyone was at the party. Fireworks exploded in the air, causing a beautiful display of lights. The loud chatter of the party guests filled the air.
Searching the room, Rift put his hands on his hips. "Hey Ace! Locate the power box," he ordered. Ace nodded. "Already on it, sir... There!" The squire bot pointed next to the king's throne. Rift stalked over and pressed on a panel, opening a collection of cords and switches. "I found it," Rift said in his communicator. "Great! Now hurry up and finish phase 1."
Pulling a gadget from his armor belt, Rift smiled from under his helmet. He clicked it onto the power box. The gadget glowed a bright blue and made three beeping noises. The last noise was a buzz, and the power box shorted out. A few sparks flew.
"Bingo!" he cheered. All the lights throughout the castle went off. He could hear a few startled screams from the party. He grinned under his helmet. "Phase 1 complete!"
Clay was snapped out of his thoughts when all the lights turned off. The only light left was the stars and his glowing arm. And the strange part was that anything running with electrical power turned off too. Aaron's hover shield dropped out of the air and Axl had to catch him. The Mechlok suit deactivated too. A few startled people let out a yelp. The blue knight went over to his friends. "What's going on?" he asked. Axl set Aaron on the ground, who just shrugged. "This is our graduation all over again," Axl commented.
Macy put her hands on her hips. "Well, someone has to do something about it. Where are Robin and Ava?" she wondered. "I think Robin is taking a nap and Ava took him home," Aaron said. "Just typical they would leave when we need them," Lance complained. Clay glanced over at the Mechlok suit. "We have to get the power running again. An EMP must have gone off somewhere," he said. Macy raised an eyebrow. "Who would set off an EMP?" she questioned.
Taking charge of the situation, Clay said, "Axl, Lance, you calm all the party guests. Macy, Aaron, and I will investigate." The knights nodded and split up. Clay, Aaron, and Macy went into the palace, searching for the cause of the problem.
Clay, Aaron, and Macy walked through the halls of the palace. "Macy, do you know where the power box would be?" Clay asked. Macy shrugged. "Beats me. But I think there's one in daddy's room," she said. "Then let's go!" Aaron said, racing ahead. "Wait!" Clay thought a minute and his walking slowed. "What if it's a trick to get us away from the king?" he wondered. Aaron looked back at him. "Please, Clay. We just defeated the Collossus! Any villain who wanted to mess with us now is just crazy," he said, hands on his hips.
Macy and Clay's eyes widened. "Aaron, watch out!" she called. Aaron was hit to the ground by a mysterious figure. He quickly got back to his feet and joined his fellow knights. They got in a fighting stance. "You know, you're smarter than you look," the figure said. They squinted their eyes, trying to get a better look. The figure had a horned helmet and a navy blue cape. His armor was old and worn down. As he walked, loud clanks rang through the hall.
Macy pulled out her mace. "Who are you? Did you shut down the power?" Clay demanded. Macy charged at him. "For Knighton!" she cried. The man defended himself with a double sided sword. After a few swings, Macy found she was unable to land a hit on him. He hit her in the side his foot, knocking her off her feet. "Aw, cute. The princess thinks she's a knight," the figure teased.
Clay and Aaron went at him. Clay used a glowing sword he had made with his magic. They fared off better than Macy. Their fight was like a deadly waltz. Aaron shot a few lasers while Clay swung with his sword. Macy got to her feet and joined them, pushing back against the enemy.
Ava tucked Robin in bed. He had been up for days working on the Mechlok suit. He had fallen asleep the second they had beaten the Collussus. It was a well deserved rest. She turned off the lights to his room and walked out. She now at to start all over the reintegration of Merlok into the Fortrex, again. She sighed. There had to be an easier way to do this.
She sat down in front of her keyboard and pressed a button. Nothing. She frowned. "That's weird," she said puzzled. She pressed it again, still no reaction. Any lights that had been on turned off. She was a bit startled from the change in lighting. "What happened to the power?" she thought aloud. She was about to call for Robin, but thought better of it. He was incredibly tired and she didn't want to bug him.
Moments later, her phone rang. She held it to her ear. "Yes?" she answered. "Hey, Ava. The power just went out here at the palace," Lance said on the other end. "Same here," she added. "Do you think it was an EMP?" he wondered. She bit her lip thinking. "I don't know." "Well can you come over here and check it out? As you know, I have no clue how any of that stuff works and I don't think Axl does either."
Ava let out a sigh. "Fine. I'll be right over," she said, hanging up. She grabbed her bag and headed out of the Fortrex. Little did she know, someone was watching her from the bushes.
Ruina saw Ava leave the Fortrex. She smiled. It seemed like no one was home, which meant all of Merlok's spells ripe for the picking. To Ruina's fortune, Ava left the door open. The witch slipped inside.
The lights were off, leaving the rolling castle pitch black. Ruina used a spell to light up her wand, giving her vision. Finding an old book, she set it on a desk. She thumbed through the pages. "Where is that spell?" she grumbled. A voice froze her in her tracks. "Ava? Is that you?"
Ruina spun around to see a tired Robin. She tensed up. But after a few moments, she realized he was just sleep walking. "Go back to bed," she whispered. The boy started to drool sleepily. "Alrighty, I'm on it. I'll get the mechanism down right...*yawn... away," he mumbled. Then he turned around and walked off. Letting out a breath she didn't know she had been holding in, she turned back to the book.
After being unable to find the hologram spell, she let out a sigh. "Dang it!" she said exasperated. Then a thought came to her. Just take the whole book, and she'd have all the spells. She smiled, taking the book in her arms. She rushed out of the Fortrex before anyone could see her. Then she turned of her light spell so no one could spot her.
When she was certain she was where their plan couldn't be foiled, Ruina pressed a button on her comlink. "Phase 2 complete."
Clay slashed his sword at the man in the helmet, but he was somehow able to block every move. Clay, Aaron, and Macy free wearing down. "Stop... villain! Whatever... you're doing... you won't win!" Clay heaved. The man in the helmet chuckled, hitting Aaron to the ground. The green knight just laid there. "You know what? I think I'll just take a break for a minute," he said, trying to catch his breath.
Rolling her eyes at him, Macy swung her mace in circles. The man in the helmet was able to knock he down too, landing next to Aaron. She looked at him. "You might have the right idea."
But Clay wouldn't give into exhaustion. Though his arms were getting weaker and his legs were starting to hurt, he kept swinging. He came face to face with the man in the helmet. Clay could feel his arms becoming more sore, his sword starting to feel like a weight. The villain was now able to knock over Clay with a simple push. The young man fell next to Macy. She gave him a weak smile, but he frowned.
"Who are you?" Clay asked, trying to come to his feet. The man set his sword over his shoulder. "Name's Rift," he said through a muffled voice. He listened closely, causing Clay to think he was listening to a speaker in his helmet. Nodding to himself, Rift pulled out a small bomb. He threw it hard on the ground, making him vanish in a puff of smoke.
When Macy stood up, she threw he mace down. "Ugh! He got away and we didn't even figure out what he wanted!" she exclaimed. Aaron put a hand on her shoulder. "Why is someone always trying to attack Knighton? Whatever happened to those 100 years of peace before our graduation?" he whined. He helped Clay to his feet.
Suddenly, a voice caught the knights' attention. "Sir? Where did you go?" It was a mechanical voice. A squire bot came around the corner. He had rusted armor with an old scratched off symbol. Clay assumed he had once been blue from a few not rusted spots. When the robot saw the knights, his eyes widened. "Aw man," he frowned, letting his arms sag.
