White. All I could see was white in an unending empty void. I was suspended in air; I couldn't move my arms, legs or any part of my body. I just floated, overflowing with panic.

"Relax, young Champion, you need not panic," a wizened male voice echoed. His voice put me at ease, but it felt unnatural.

"Where am i?" my sounded more high-pitched, just like when I was younger. Huh?

"A World between Worlds, you may even call it Limbo," he explained. "And before you ask, you are here because you have been deemed worthy."

"Worthy for what exactly?" And limbo meant I died? How did I die? And why am I so calm thinking about my potential demise?

"That would my doing, and yes I can hear your thoughts Champion," he answered my next question, putting that problem aside.

But he called me Champion? What did I win?

"Champion refers to your position as the chosen to wield the Power."

Maybe I should just stop talking, if this guy was gonna keep reading my mind. "Forgive me! I shouldn't have-"

You're doing it again.

"Oh! I'm so-"

Again.

"I-"

Again.

This time he didn't reply. Good. "What powers are you talking about?"

"I am glad you asked."

The white suddenly turned shifted as a large screen seemingly materialized.

"Wisdom of Solomon!"

A muscular figure with a large lightning bolt on his chest in a library appeared.

"Strength of Hercules!"

The figure was now holding a truck on top of his head.

"Stamina of Atlas!"

The figure was doing pushups.

"Power of Zeus!"

It struck a pose as lightning flashed in the background.

"Courage of Achilles!"

It now sat beside a lion.

"Speed of Mercury!"

It now ran, not particularly conveying what speed of Mercury meant. Not that most of the animations conveyed their respective powers.

But this meant, "Wait, you're gonna give me the powers of Shazam?"

"Yes indeed my Champion!"

"What about Billy Batson? Wasn't he supposed to be Champion?" wait, forget about Billy, I was inside DC comics? If I had the ability to be anything but calm in here, I'd have long had a nervous breakdown.

"Not DC," Shazam's voice spoke up, "And as for Billy, well, plans change."

Well that's unfortunate for Billy, not th- hold up, "Not DC?"

"Yes, you will not be entering the Multiverse collectively known to you as DC Comics, you will instead be entering the Multiverse known as Marvel Comics," It explained.

"But Shazam's DC, why Marvel? Also on that note, why me?"

"Why indeed," he said, "All I know is that you were Chosen by Them as was I, for this"

"Who's Them?"

"That I cannot say."

Great, more questions.

At any rate, whoever he was referring to were giving me the chance of a lifetime, but "What about my life, my family? Everyone I know?"

"I think we both know what happened."

"I died, didn't I?"

"Yes."

I didn't know how to take it. Again, as a result of Shazam's magic influence or something, I was barely fazed by the revelation. Sadness, anger, denial, I felt nothing. Just plain acceptance.

"Well then, seeing as I have no choice, power me up Magic Man."

"Finally."

In the blink of an eye, the void gave way to a poorly lit chamber made of rocks and stones. There were caverns leading to who knows here, while a large circle of Thrones stood on one side.

Right in the middle, was a thin, old man, wearing grey robes. He looked like your average fantasy wizard, and not, as I'd hoped, like Djimon Hounsou.

He had a large smile on his face as he approached me, "Champion! It is good to properly meet you."

"Likewise," I looked at the magic staff in his hand, glowing with power.

"So I just hold it and say Shazam?" I asked.

He nodded, "Place your hand upon my staff-"

I snorted, suppressing a laugh.

"Is something funny?"

"Staff. Phrasing."

He looked confused. "It's fine, don't worry about it."

"I-If you say so," he held his staff, I coughed, out again. "Say my name and the Power is yours!"

Here goes nothing. Taking a deep breath, I gently took it in my hand, "Shazam!"

A bolt of lightning struck me, and before I knew it, I was over 6 feet tall; wearing the iconic red suit with the large yellow lightning bolt; and the white cape with gold trimmings.

"This is so weird," my voice, was back to normal. "Why was I a kid in the first place?"

Shazam shrugged, "I do not know?"

I sighed in frustration, "Now what?"

"Now you must be off Champion, the Multiverse awaits," he tapped the ground with the staff as another bolt of lightning struck me.

That's all I remembered before waking up in a hospital.

Jonah had seen many things in his time in the army, and as a cop. But never, in all his life, had he seen a kid falling down the sky like a meteor.

He'd been enjoying a nice cup of coffee with a doughnut, when all of a sudden, a fiery streak raced across the sky, touching down in the park.

When he'd gone to see location of the crash, he found a kid, around thirteen to fourteen, lying in a crater where a meteor should've been. He looked unharmed, if a bit disheveled from the fall.

Beyond confused, he did the only thing he could do, "Uh, dispatch, a kid fell from the sky."
