He saw hell.
What else was there to describe what was before him? People with weapons of all shapes and sizes, massacring each other left and ground was stained with their blood, and the environment was being destroyed.
However, his gaze focused onto a mysterious figure wearing a white dress. He couldn't see the figure's face, but somehow still the figure gave off a sense of familiarity, like he had known her.
"Find the Legendary Silver Crystal!"
As the voice called out to him, he suddenly felt himself falling down. Down into a black abyss.
As he landed on the ground, the area he was standing on was suddenly engulfed in a light. When it cleared, he could see a picture that honestly took his breath away due to its beauty.
The image showed himself, dressed in a tuxedo and top hat, with a white mask adorning his face. He was standing in front of the planet Earth and the Sun itself, its rays shining down upon the planet. Circling around him was the symbol of the Solar Cross, and above him were four faces he did not recognize, but they were all young men.
Mamoru Chiba did not know what to make of this.
"You seek answers…"
Mamoru's eyes widened as he heard the voice. "Who are you?"
"The answers to your past all lie within your memories. But to obtain them, you must first reawaken your power."
Mamoru's attention was then drawn to a mirror suddenly appearing in the midst of the platform. Approaching it, he saw that in his reflection that he was dressed in the same tuxedo and mask that was on the mural. However, the image changed, and he saw himself donning mysterious armor that made him look like a king. Touching the mirror, he soon was engulfed in a bright light. As the light vanished, he inspected his now armored hands and flexed his fingers, getting accustomed to the feel of the armor. He then held out his hand, and a golden sword with a pommel in the shape of the solar cross appeared in it. At this, the image of him on the platform changed, now showing his armored form.
"This is but a glimpse of the power."
At this, Mamoru's attention was soon drawn to mysterious impish figures suddenly appearing from the glass. He then proceeded to grasp his blade and take a stance.
"Now you must prove you know how to properly wield it."
At this, Mamoru gave off a battle cry as he charged towards one of the figures. The imp then proceeded to jump towards Mamoru in response, but this allowed Mamoru to pierce through its body, causing it to dissipate. As he turned around, he noticed the creatures proceeded to flatten themselves and skitter across the floor. He then tried to stab them, but found that his strikes did not work on them in this state. Observing the creatures, he found one that was returning to its corporeal form, and then proceeded to slash and cleave the creature, his swordsmanship impeccable.
However, he soon felt a presence behind him. Tightening his grip on his blade, he turned around and slashed at the creature, bisecting it. However, more and more of the creatures kept coming, and despite his armor, he could feel the sting of their cuts.
However, Mamoru was undeterred, and fought until the creatures were no more. As he lay there, breath heavy from the exertion, more mirrors started to circle him. However, what was in these mirrors were not reflections. Rather, they showed what appeared to be a castle somewhere on Earth, with lush greenery surrounding it and the full moon present in the night sky.
"These memories lie deep within your heart."
Mamoru observed the castle, and proceeded to gingerly touch the surface of the mirror. This place...it felt all so familiar.
"But to unlock the heart's secrets, you must embark on a journey."
At this, Mamoru raised his brow underneath his helmet. "A Journey?"
"This journey will not be an easy one. You will face many hardships, but little by little, your memories will return."
Mamoru became silent, his armored form gazing at the castle in the mirror.
"I accept." Determination was evident in his voice.
"Very well."
At this, the mirrors disappeared, one after another. As the last mirror disappeared, Mamoru could swear he heard the faintest sound of water. Looking down, he saw that water was indeed now on the platform. As he observed it, the water began to recede, then formed into a wave. However, Mamoru could see a faint light within the wave. Without hesitation, he rushed towards it, and reached out towards the light as the water came crashing down on him.
Although he found he could breathe in the water, Mamoru instead focused on the light he saw at the surface. He proceeded to swim up towards the light, and broke through the water. As he got his bearings, he noticed that he was now standing on a reflective surface, and that a clouded sky expanded across the vast horizon. He then heard the sound of feet approaching him and turned around to see a girl in a rather peculiar outfit.
"Who are you?" He called out.
However, the ground began to shake, and both of them turned around to see a behemoth rise out of the water. Mamoru's brow furrowed as he beheld it, but he was undeterred. Summoning his sword, he proceeded to charge towards the monster's hand and stab at it, his sword piercing through it.
The monster, however, was unperturbed, and simply curled its other hand into a fist and proceeded to slam it into the ground. A pool of darkness began to form around the now lodged appendage, and more of the imps proceeded to form from it. Mamoru turned his head towards the girl.
"Take care of those things! I'll handle the big guy!"
The girl was clearly afraid, but she nodded and proceeded to focus on the imps. Mamoru then proceeded to jump on the giant's lodged arm and run up it. Once he got close to its face, he then proceeded to slash the creature's eyes, hoping to blind it. The monster responded by howling in pain and proceeding to smack him off of its shoulder, sending him tumbling across the floor.
"Are you alright?!"
Mamoru nodded his head as he got his bearings "Yeah, I'm fine. But we need to focus!"
The creature's chest then began to glow, and from it, wisps of dark energy began to fly towards them. Mamoru and the girl proceeded to deflect some of the shots back at the creature, damaging it, but some of the shots made their mark, injuring them.
The monster then proceeded to slam a fist into the ground, the shockwave knocking Mamoru and the girl back and causing them to wince in pain. The beast then produced from the ground an orb of crackling dark energy, which it lifted and then sent up into the air. The orb exploded, sending forth a rain of spheres down upon them. They then proceeded to try and dodge the spheres, several of them hitting them and causing waves of pain to run through them once again.
However, the duo fought through the pain, and proceeded to slash at the creature's hands once again. The creature, clearly fighting a losing battle, simply raised its hand and swatted them away.
Mamoru and the girl struggled to get up, as their injuries were now catching up to them, and the adrenaline rush was clearly running out. However, despite their injuries and fatigue, they grabbed their swords, and then flung them towards the monsters' head, both swords planting themselves in its eyes. The monster then began to let out a wail as its body began to dissipate into dark energy.
Seeing that they were now alone, the girl and Mamoru then looked at each other. Before either of them could speak, their exhaustion caused their bodies to become limp and their eyelids to grow heavy. As darkness overtook him, Mamoru could not help but feel a sense of familiarity as he gazed at the girl, along with another feeling deep within his chest that caused it to tighten up.
Just who was this girl?

Mamoru's eyes then widened as he beheld his bedroom. Looking down at himself, he saw that he was no longer in the armor that had previously adorned. SIghing, he walked towards the bathroom and proceeded to splash water across his face.
"Another dream...but I've never had one like this. Just what is going on? And who was that girl? Could she have something to do with the Silver Crystal?"
Mamoru then proceeded to look at himself in the mirror and narrow his brows.
"Whatever it takes though, I will regain my memories."

Deep within the earth, there stood a ruined castle, its brickwork crumbling and interior completely trashed. One would think this castle would be uninhabited, but there did in fact exist some inhabitants.
One in particular was a youth wearing white garments which matched his hair, and his eyes were red. However, what was most intriguing was the horn on top of his head. It was golden, and gleamed like the sun. His eyes then widened and he glanced up at the ceiling, before he smiled.
"So you have awoken, my king."
