A/N:

Hi guys. After all these years, I completely forgot what was supposed to be the ending of this story. If I even think about the ending of this story.

I'm not sure if you notice but I haven't really been putting the voice of Jack. That was actually what I think. Of course sans the I should die thing but the I don't deserve anything.

I never cut but I know someone very close to me did. And it was not before or during the first 16 chapters that I know that she did. And it made me think that. Maybe I don't really know what it should feel. And that this story wasn't how it should be. But I really wanted to end it. Once and for all. So that at least I can say I finished one story.

Anyways, still can't promise you that I can upload chapters.

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters of Rise of the Guardians

The kid was strong. He knew that for twenty years they lived together.

Pitch was busy with keeping the nightmares at bay. And he was taking care of Jack. It was not an easy task to prepare the kid for something so strong.

He knew that Jack would eventually face with Old Man Winter. It wasn't really a matter of if but a matter of when. So he drilled all he knew to the kid. Made him stronger everyday. Made a strict schedule of his day but made his afternoon and night free.

He knew Jack was going somewhere and knew that you can't keep the kid locked up for training all day.

After all, he was still a kid. In fact, he is on the age where kids are supposed to explore the world. And being an immortal who can fly has its perks. He's bound to be excited of everything he sees in this vast world.

Not that Pitch isn't worried. But he knew that Jack knows he can count on him. And he most certainly knows he can count on his mother.

Though Jack never told Seraphina or him to tell him what to do step by step and help him when some immortals went a little too far. If Pitch would be honest, the kid never told them any of his problems.

He always thought that maybe the kid deemed it not troublesome enough to take action. Not worthy of any reaction.

Pitch didn't know that Jack was hurt. So many times that he did ask for their help. Like how Jack subtly ask Pitch if he wanted to come with him on some place and when Pitch declined, Jack would just dismissed it then and there.

How Jack asked where his mother was with a weird look he has on his face like he has seen a ghost.

How Jack stayed at home for a week conjuring these little ice sculptures of everyone he knows.

It just wasn't serious enough.

And it was never real.

Pitch really thought that was the case.

The kid didn't deliberately hurt himself. Sure he was reckless and had a bit of a tongue which gets him in a lot of trouble but he never intentionally hurt himself.

Not like that.

Sure he knows about the scars on his wrist but anyone else could have done that.

It wasn't there when he have Jack.

Pitch knew that by the kid's reaction when inquired about it means that he did in fact did that to himself. Did in fact hurt himself.

Pitch wasn't an idiot. But he didn't really believed it.

Not really.

As he said Jack was strong.

So when he heard the kids door slammed and Bunnys shout, he went to check on him and saw Bunny.

His eyes went black.

"What the hell did you do to him?" Pitch hissed pushing the rabbit away from Jack.

Jack was confused seeing Pitch burst into his room and seemingly threatening someone.

"Uhmm... Pitch?" he asked backing away from Pitch slowly.

He looks angry.Jack blinked. By the way Pitch has his arms up looked like he's pinning someone to the wall but Jack doesn't see it.

He wants you to leave, idiot.

Jack called Pitch again. Pitch just glared harder to the wall.

I guess you're right..Jack went closer to his door inching towards it. He doesn't exactly know what to think about this.

"What the hell did you do, stupid rabbit" Pitch sputters again.

"Ah didn't do anything. Ah can't do anything" Bunny resigned.

And then it just clicked.

Jack can't see Bunny and therefore can't touch him. And if it wasn't Bunny then who did this?

"Jack" Pitch called and Jack looked like he was caught sneaking.

"Uhmm... Yeah.?" Jack stuttered. Hiding his hands behind him.

"You're bleeding" Pitch stated pointing down to the ground.

Jack fidgetted. "So I, I was looking around and, and" Jack looked around for an excuse and Pitch suddenly took his injured hands and looked at it.

Jack panicked, "I'm fine! It's not that deep I just need some bandage and it will be gone" he explained suddenly.

"Who did this?" Pitch said angrily scaring Jack.

"I'm really fine!" Jack exclaimed pulling away desperately.

"Tell me who hurt you, Jack!" Pitch shouted gripping Jack's hand.

Jack was completely weak at this form and can't really fight his way out of Pitchs hold.

"I did! Please let me go!" Jack cried out.Pitch suddenly dropped Jacks hand in shock.

He opened his mouth but no words came out.

"But.." Pitch managed to say.

"I was just.. I'm sorry" Jack looked at Pitch tears in his eyes.

"That.. would mean" Pitch said again.

I didn't notice, Pitch thought.

Bullshit. I did.

But I didn't believe it.

You were always my kid.

"Jack" Pitch said tears falling in his eyes. He didn't really see it. Always looking at Seraphina.

Always looking at the nightmares.

Pitch thought it was enough that Jack had them. He had them for twenty years. He thought he wouldn't do that. What went wrong?

Pitch sat sobbing. "I'm sorry, Jack"

It didn't felt real until he saw it.

He didn't felt that it was serious until he saw it.

He didn't want to believe that he wasn't at fault but he knew that he was.

He didn't saw Jacks scars even after he conquered his nightmares with the help of Jack.

He didn't see that Jack was having nightmares of his own.

But now it's clear.

And it was real.

Where is his kid, his care free, troublesome and always laughing at the wind kid?

And the only thing he can think of while sobbing on the floor is that...

He didn't know and he didn't ask.
