"I got angry but I was glad you stopped me." Pitch sighed, trying to look at Jack.

"I wished we could be like family, Jack." Pitch pinched his nose. Now is not the time to be crying.

Could we?

What was I thinking?

Jack stared at the floor. They were sitting side by side on his bed trying to understand everything that has lead...

To all of this...

Hang on, is that... Jack Frost? Since when are you all so chummy?

We're not.

Oh, good; a neutral party. Then, I'm going to ignore you. But, you must be used to that, by now...

It was a petty revenge for Pitch. Ignore the kid who's been avoiding him for decades now. It was supposed to be funny but when Jack didn't even retaliate or made any indication that he remembered him, he was shattered.

Was Pitch the only one who was regretting anything?

"I didn't mean to hurt you, Pitch" Jack mumbled, trying not to cry harder. Jack didn't even think their conversation at that time hurt his grandpa that much.

Jack didn't want the guardians to know about his past (and present for that matter) and he thought that Pitch has already cut ties with him the last time they talked.

The guardians already didn't trust him at all and by bringing up that he was raised by Pitch at the last moment seemed like a death sentence to Jack.

It was so fast that he didn't think much about how it would affect Pitch.

Sure, he wasn't thrilled to be talking to Pitch since he's been avoiding him for a long time, admittedly but he didn't think that Pitch would take it hard. After all, they haven't been in contact for years.

Jack finally understood, they both hurt each other a lot especially that time. He regretted being the naive kid and not being as perceptive as he thought he was.

They fell into silence. None of them thought about the consequences of their actions.

After fidgeting for a while and not knowing what else to do, Jack decided to just hug his grandpa.

This is emotional roller coaster is exhausting for the both of them.

"I thought you never wanted to see me." Jack whispered still clutching to Pitch. Pitch just scoffed.

"I was chasing you, wasn't I?" Pitch said, rubbing circles to the kid's back. Jack nodded, tired.

It was true.

They were a lot of times where Pitch has been calling for him in the early years after his episode.

Jack didn't answer any of these calls and was deliberately avoiding Pitch like a plague because..

What was he supposed to say?

Sorry, I almost killed your daughter?

Sorry, you raised a monster?

A centure after that, Pitch just seems to wonder in the same places he was.

Jack thought it was odd and was completely disheartened about it and that was one of the reasons Jack thought that Pitch didn't want to talk to him.

That he was done with him.

Jack blinked sleepily.

"You should get some rest, Jack" At that, Jack yawned and nodded again. Still not moving away, Pitch continued stroking his back.

"I'll stay until you sleep" Jack barely heard it but gave Pitch a smile.

A real smile that Pitch haven't seen from Jack directed to him.

"Good night" Jack said, slightly adjusting himself to his bed. He is tired to say the least.

Pitch gave him a small smile and sat on a chair near Jack.

"Good night, kid" Pitch whispered.

We'll figure this out.

Bunnymund went outside the room the moment the two sat down Jack's bed.

He hates to admit but one look at Pitch and Jack, he knew that the kid and the nightmare king had some familial connection. The one that he, no, all of the guardians had been trying to build.

He was intruding by being there.

Though he does not trust Pitch completely, he knew that right now, he wouldn't harm Jack. Not that he can't hear them, he was just leaning on the wall outside Jack's room, staying alert.

Just in case.

Taking a sit on the floor, Bunnymund went to thinking.

Why doesn't Jack see him? It was unnerving.

It doesn't seem like the kid had a clue either.

North appeared at the corner. His every move making a loud noise. He kept having these questions on how are they going to fix this.

How are they supposed to fix everything.

North saw Bunnymund at the floor. "Jack alright?"

Bunnymund nodded, "Better" he mubled.

Bunnymund hated the Nightmare King but he has to accept the fact the the boogeyman was or is a father to Jack. He can't very well deny this and deny Jack of the people who loves him.

North stared at Jack's door. He didn't want to intrude since he can feel that Pitch was inside. MN and the Nightmare King were clear that they are Jack's family and the kid isn't denying it.

They could tell they have no ill intentions to the kid and if one would take time to analyze things, North would say they are the bad guys in this story.

North frowned, a lot of thoughts in his mind. He doesn't know of a way to fix their mistakes. He neglected Jack. It was a hard thing to accept but it was reality.

If he was Jack, North would hate the ones who hurt him that much. North doesn't understand it but Jack never gave them an idea that the kid hated them.

The kid was happy everytime they meet. He could tell.

But why was he?

North blinked tears falling down his face.

"Sorry" North said wiping his tears aways with his hand. Bunnymund gave him a look and stood up.

"Is okay. Ah understand" he gave North a tap on his shoulder in a form of comfort.

"I don't know what to do" North admitted.

The kid can't see them anymore.

"We'll figure it out, mate"
