One day at the Wario Bros house, Wario and Waluigi took off their burglar masks as they laughed with sinister glee.
"WAHAHAHAHAHAHA! We got 'em, Waluigi!" guffawed Wario.
"Yeah! I can't believe that drug dealer actually had some free games in store!" said Waluigi. "Let's-a play!"
The two bad plumbers dug through the pile of games in the bag. One particular game caught their attention.
"Hey. Mario Party DS! I haven't played this in years!" Waluigi said nostalgically.
"Let's give it a whirl." Wario inserted the game card into his old DS. After skipping the title sequence, Wario selected himself, and picked the board, Kamek's Library. Both brothers took turns playing the game. They were enjoying playing the last Mario Party game made by Hudson Soft, up until entering a shop.
"Alright. What are we purchasing, bro?" Waluigi excitedly asked.
"Let's see…" Wario examined. Of course, he had to go through Monty Mole's dialogue first.
Monty Mole: Welcome to the Item Shop!
But rather than getting right to the shopping, Monty Mole said something odd…
Monty Mole: Oh, I'm terribly sorry. I don't serve criminals.
Wario and Waluigi were puzzled. They didn't remember this happening in the game.
"Wah? Criminals?" Waluigi questioned with a raised eyebrow.
Wario was suddenly brought to a minigame tutorial screen. However, it was very strange. Instead of playing the usual tutorial music, the screen was playing an ominous base. The minigame was simply titled "RUN", and it was apparently a boss. The rules only said "There is nothing you can do.", and the controls said "None".
"Ehh… I don't remember this at all." Wario was really confused. When did this ever happen? What requirements are there to make it happen?
Wario started the minigame anyways. He was underground and the giant Monty Mole was digging towards him. However, he couldn't move, so all he could do was let the Monty Mole catch him. Just as it did…
"Sprite not found at 6c75696769206d6f64: Please turn off the power and check for system components."
"Software piracy detected. You are in possession of an illicit copy of this title. Please turn off the power immediately."
The Wario Bros only saw these two screens for a split second along with hearing static noises. Then the screen turned black. Both the bros had their jaws hanging from their mouths like icicles and pupils dilated to the size of Star Bits.
"WHAAAAAAAT THE?!" Waluigi shouted.
"I… I don't know w-what just h-happened." Wario was too shocked to even speak properly.
After a few seconds of blackness, a new screen which the bros had never seen before popped up. The background music was a never heard before music track that was a bit ominous. On the top screen, the background was the logos of both NIntendo and Hudson Soft. The top of the screen had huge words in the Mario Party DS word font bolded in red, saying "PIRACY IS NO PARTY!" There was also a message below it.
"It is a serious crime to pirate video games.
Please power off the system and report this stolen software immediately.

On the bottom screen, all of the playable characters in Mario Party DS were shown locked in jail. And there were flashing yellow words saying "POWER OFF NOW".
Wario and Waluigi were legitimately terrified now, for they had just realized something. That drug dealer who gave them these games for free… These games were illegally copied and distributed. In other words, the drug dealer gave them pirated copies of these DS games.
"Waluigi…" Wario slowly said. His fear was making him hesitate an awful lot.
"Yes… Wario…?"
"We just made… a huge mistake…"
After a few more seconds of hesitation, both bros screamed as loud as Godzilla. Wario quickly turned off the DS, took out the game card, and put it back in the bag of games. They were about to burn the stolen copies until they heard a police siren outside that made the two go as still as statues. Red, white, and blue lights could also be seen flashing from the window.
"This is the police! Please exit the residence and put your hands in the air!" said a voice from outside.
"Well, shit…" Wario cursed.
Both bros walked outside and put down the bag.
"Video game piracy, eh?" the chief of police commented. "Alright you two, get in the car! You're under arrest!"
As the two were cuffed and Waluigi watched his head to get in, Mario approached them.
"Wario, Waluigi."
"Yes?" said both Wario Bros simultaneously.
"Piracy is no Party!" Mario quoted as the two were taken away.
