(3 months later)

Ash and Pikachu stared in awe through the plane window to look down at the region of Alola in. They both saw four unique islands and a white-dot in the middle of the vast blue ocean. The white-dot looked completely out of place so he squinted to get a better look but the plane started to descend, heading straight for Melemele Island.

"Pika pikaaa" His small yellow companion pumped his fist. He mimicked the action of his Pokemon. Fist clenched, he eyes burning with passion before he looked at Pikachu.

"That's right Pikachu. Let's do this!"

The plane finally touched down on the Alolan ground and later stopped. Ash stepped out of the plane with Pikachu on his shoulder. He breathed the damp and humid air, felt the warm summer rays beaming on him, the new sounds of flying-type and bug-type Pokemon around him. Here he was. He stretched before pumping his fists toward the sky, Pikachu mirroring him. Another one of his signatures, his region greeting.

"Alola everyone! I'm Ash Ketchum and I'm going to be a Pokemon Master!" Ash yelled out.

"Pi pikachu!"

Everyone in a mile radius turned toward him in confusion. Some people around him chuckled, whether from amusement or believing the teen was stupid he had no idea, nor did he care. It felt good to be back in a new region, forwarding his dream to be the very best. Behind him though, someone sweat dropped at his announcement. He put his hand on Ash's shoulder and stepped up to him.

"I know I told you it's customary to greet Alolans by saying Alola, but I don't think you have to yell that out Ash." Even though Professor Oak felt slightly embarrassed, he did laugh a bit out of amusement. Besides Pikachu and a few others, he knew Ash better than anyone. His announcement to the Alola region was surely going to come true sometime in the future, he knew it. Ash turned to him and started to scratch the back of his head.

"Sorry professor. I'm just so excited to finally be in Alola! Aren't you Pikachu?" Ash asked his long time friend. "Pikachu!"

"It's alright Ash, let's just get moving." They walked into the airport and saw people bustling around, boarding planes, getting off them or some waiting. As they walked, Ash thought about the announcement Professor Oak gave to him a month ago. A few months after he told him that he didn't want him to go to Alola as of right now.

Ash was excited. Today professor Oak is finally going to tell him why he didn't want Ash to travel to Alola yet. He had waited months for this and he grew more and more restless. During his time back at home, he'd spent the majority of his time training his previous Pokemon, making sure they stayed in shape. Who knows when Team Rocket could show up and try to nab Pikachu or some of his other Pokemon.

Professor Oak came up to him as he was practicing a new unorthodox move. He's been spending the last week trying to get it right.

"Charizard, create a ring of fire around you using Flamethrower!" He commanded Charizard who responded with a nod. Charizard roared out before spinning and giving out a relatively weak Flamethrower all around him.

"Now use Dragon Tail!" This time Charizard didn't give out a roar. Instead, his tail started to glow blue, then he spun his tail into the ring of fire he created. Charizard gritted from the mild pain but he could handle much more than a bit of his own flames. Charizard's tail was still blue, but burning on it was fire.

Ash new unorthodox move was simple in his mind. A fire-type move that uses Charizard's strong tail. He didn't believe that a move like that technically existed, but that never stopped him. By using Dragon Tail to protect Charizard's tail, and using Charizard's flamethrower to ignite the appendage, a new move was formed, though it wasn't exactly complete yet.

"Now launch forward and use Flaming Tail!" Ash yelled out, a hopeful expression on his face. Charizard flew slightly up and rushed toward his opponent, Boldore. To boosts Boldore's defense even more, Boldore volunteered to withstand hits from Charizard, a valor thing that not many Pokemon, even some of Ash's, would volunteer for.

"Boldore, stop Charizard using Rock Blast! Charizard, dodge them!" He commanded his two Pokemon.

"Boldore!" Boldore created four boulders and threw them at Charizard. Charizard spun and dodge first, flew higher to dodge the next two and spun again to dodge the last. Charizard made it up to Boldore, intent to slam him with his tail. He lurched his tail up ready to strike.

"Wait!" Ash yelled, calling off the attack. Charizard almost didn't listen to Ash, but slammed his tail down right next to Boldore, causing Boldore to sink partly into the ground from the force. Instead of a fiery-tail that slammed into Boldore, it was just Charizard's non-lit tail. still as powerful however. Charizard gave a gruff as Ash ran up to him.

"It happened again. Your tail became extinguished before you reached Boldore." Ash explained. He couldn't keep the tail burning long enough for Charizard to reach its target.

"Ahh, there you are Ash. Working on a new move I see?" Professor Oak asked the teen, walking up to him and his Pokemon. He saw Boldore shaking himself back up before walking away. Based on the scratches and bruises on Boldore, he guessed that Ash and his Pokemon have been practicing that quite a lot today.

"Yeah. Me and Charizard are trying to have his Dragon Tail on fire so that when he hits his target they might get a burn. But obviously it isn't working yet." Ash explained dejectedly. The professor raised his eyebrows hearing Ash's explanation. Only Ash would think of something like that, he chuckled.

"Interesting. Well Ash, do you want to know why I've kept you here for the past two months?" Professor Oak knew Ash was getting annoyed at staying in Kanto. It's not like the boy hated being home, but he knew Ash was an explorer, and keeping him here was against his nature.

"Of course!" Ash replied excitedly. A lot of his Pokemon, including Pikachu ran up to them, also wanting to hear Professor Oak.

"Ash, have you ever heard of a Pokemon academy?" Ash took a moment to recall his previous journeys to remember if he had. He never directly heard of a Pokemon academy. He knew that an academy was like a special type of school, and that Pokemon was well just... Pokemon. Putting the two together, he had a guess to what it was.

"No I haven't." Professor Oak nodded his head, like he already figured he hadn't and wanted to confirm so.

"It makes sense you haven't. Pokemon academies are quite rare and further so, they're usually quite small and modest. But before you were born, when I was growing up, there used to be plenty of Pokemon academies, and they had so much influence that there were some huge academies that were parallel to the Pokemon's League influence!" Oak exclaimed, surprising Ash with how huge Pokemon academies were back in the day. He wondered what happened to them. Professor Oak read his mind.

"But unfortunately, due to corruption, bad management and bad decisions, the big ones shut down a few years before you were born and furthermore, the smaller ones followed suit." Professor Oak sadly revealed, but then immediately chirped up, "But a few years ago, some high officials from across the regions, including me, had a vision to bring back these Pokemon academies!" He proclaimed. By now, all of Ash's Pokemon were listening to the professor.

"So you brought back Pokemon academies?" Ash questioned. Professor Oak nodded, wearing a proud smile on his lips. While Ash was proud and amazed at the professor, he wondered why he told him all of this. Until it clicked.

"You want me to go to one of these academies?" Ash guessed, the sentence being less of a question but more as a statement. Professor Oak grinned.

"Yes Ash. I want you to go to Melemele Academy in the Alola region!"

Flash forward a month and here he was.

Professor Oak told him that Alola was kind of different from most regions. While a region may have one or two 'vacation' spots, Alola in its entirety was a vacation. Based off looking around and seeing a lot of people wear flashy floral shirts, pulling on their luggage, and having what looked like pretty severe sunburn, he had to agree with Professor Oak. He sighed in relief, grateful that he was already tanned and wouldn't suffer that much to the Alola sun. But that thought came by fast and his mind was already thinking about something else. Pokemon battling.

He couldn't believe when Professor Oak told him that Alola didn't even have a league a few years ago. A region without a Pokemon League is something he couldn't even imagine. They also didn't have an official champion or elite four which greatly confused him. The professor explained that Alola has started to implement the modern day league system, but it was going to be a gradual change over time.

With thoughts about Pokemon battling and the new Alola region in his mind, Ash's body went into autopilot, and he didn't even notice that they walked out of the airport and into the city of Hau'oli, the place where Melemele Academy was going to be located at. He was only broken out of his stupor by a voice, a deep command voice.

"Torracat, use Flamethrower!" Someone called out. Immediately, Ash's and Pikachu's ears picked up and he turned into the direction of the voice to see some smoke coming from an area not to far. Forgetting that he was walking with Professor Oak, Ash started to jog over to where a battle was taking place and came up on a Pokemon battle field.

On one side of a field was a black and red cat-like Pokemon. On the other side of the field stood what looked to be a Marowak, but instead of its usual brown-ish color, it's skin was a dark purple, and on each end of its bone, greenish fire tailed it. Ash assumed it was Torracat from the slight puff of smoke the Pokemon huffed, and that Marowak had slight burns.

"Marawok are you okay?!" A dark-skinned teen with no shirt asked his Pokemon. Marawok gave a nod to the trainer and then turned to scowl at Torracat.

"Woah, I wonder why that Marowak looks like that?" Ash questioned Pikachu. In all his years of traveling, he never saw a Marowak look like that.

"Pika?" Pikachu shrugged his shoulders, in the same confusement as Ash.

"Ohhh… I'm going to guess you aren't from Alola." A feminine voice said to their right. Ash and Pikachu both turned their heads to see a pale girl staring at them with her steely-grey eyes. She wore green short shorts and an oversized white t-shirt with faded flowers tied at the bottom. She wore a red beanie on top of her black hair. For some reason, Ash couldn't help but stare at the girl, losing all train of thought.

"Piko?"

The steely-grey eyes teen saw Pikachu perched on his shoulder and her eyes lit up with what looked to be adorement.

"Awwwh, aren't you adorable!" The girl squealed, ignoring Ash's stare to reach for Pikachu. Ash broke out of trance confused but didn't have time to think of it as the girl picked up Pikachu with a bright smile on her face. Not quick enough to stop the girl, Ash knew the danger that he and this new person was already in. Pikachu started to spark electricity, prompting Ash of some previous unfortunate memories.

"Uh oh." He muttered.

"Huh?" The girl muttered, looking puzzled at the sparking Pikachu.

"PikaCHU!" Pikachu shocked both Ash and the girl, leaving them both covered in dust and their hair frizzy. Ash looked worried at the girl, but the girl still had a smile on her face seeming not to affected by Pikachu's electric shock. She did however put Pikachu back on his shoulder.

"Sorry about that. Pikachu doesn't like to be touched by strangers." Ash embarrassingly said, apologizing, scratching the back of his head while giving a chuckle, remembering all the times Pikachu had done the exact thing, including him.

"I understand. I'm sorry Pikachu. I probably shouldn't have done that anyway without asking." The girl acknowledged, though she didn't look too bothered. "Well how about we quit being strangers. I'm Moon."

"That's fine. Also I'm Ash and this is my partner Pikachu."

"Piko…" Pikachu scratched the back of his head in embarrassment for shocking her, similar to Ash.

"A Pikachu huh. Isn't he predominantly found in Kanto?" Moon questioned. Ash nodded, perking up at the mention of his home region.

"They are. It's where me and Pikachu are from!" Ash responded with a smile. He picked up good vibes from the girl which boosted his already good mood. She was friendly and cheerful, and he matched that energy. "So, what's up with that Marawok?" He finally asked.

A moment of confusion came from Moon before a voice of another command came from the field. They turned back to the battle to see Marawok still battling but now against a Dewgong. Marawok was panting but Ash could tell that Marawok could still go on for quite some time.

"Dewgong use Aqua Jet!"

"Marawok counter with Shadow Bone!"

Dewgong, covered in water, shot off towards Marawok whose bone started to glow a purple color. Marawok jumped up before slamming its bone into the oncoming Dewgong, preventing Dewgong from hitting it. Ash started in awe of the move he never heard of before.

"That's an Alolan Marawok, and it just used Shadow Bone, a move only an Alolan Marawok can learn." Moon informed, her moment of confusion gone, also watching the battle in interest.

"Alolan Marawok?" Ash confusedly murmured. He still kept his attention toward the battle as the Marawok used Bone Club to finish off the Dewgong. He turned to see Moon nodding.

"Yeah Alolan. Because Alola has such a different climate than most of the regions, some Pokemon have to adjust to fit the climate, hence the term, their Alolan form. That's why the Marawok looks like that and you'll see a bunch more Pokemon that differs from what you're used to." Moon explained clearly.

"Wow that's amazing! You're really smart!" Ash complimented Moon before his eyes turned away from her, looking at the trainer with the powerful Alolan Marawok wondering if he could get a battle with the guy. He didn't see Moon lightly blush at the compliment.

"Not really… it's common knowledge around here." Moon nervously giggled. Ash absentmindedly nodded, focusing on the battle in front of him.

"I'm going to see if that guy wants to battle. You ready for our first Alolan battle, Pikachu?" Ash excitedly asked, already feeling pumped up from watching the previous battle.

"Pi Pikachu!" Pikachu pumped his fist, always ready for a battle. They were about to head onto the field when a voice stopped them.

"I'm afraid that will have to wait Ash." Professor Oak announced from behind. Ash turned around and sighed sadly for not being able to battle, but he did feel slightly guilty. He just remembered he came with the Professor, and just left him without even saying anything.

"Sorry professor for leaving you." He apologized. Oak chuckled at him. He couldn't be mad at the trainer for wanting to see a Pokemon battle.

"It's alright Ash." Smiling and lightly laughing at the one-track minded teen. "While its been a few years since he started traveling, he's still the same battle-wonder kid."

"Hey you're Professor Oak! Kanto's best Pokemon professor!" Moon exclaimed excitedly with wide eyes. The professor gave off a flatter chuckle at the compliment.

"Why thank you. And who must you be?" He asked while Moon stared at him with awe.

"I'm Moon! Nice to meet you Professor Oak." She chirped. Professor Oak nodded at her and smiled, but stopped for a moment to give a look of remembrance before dismissing it and turning his head back to Ash.

"Ash, we need to make our way to Melemele Academy now." He prodded to the teen. Ash nodded at him but Moon's eyes grew slightly large at what the professor said.

"Wait, you're enrolled into Melemele Academy? So am I!" Moon beamed.

"That's amazing!" Ash replied with a cheery smile.

"Well if you would like, you could join us on our way there if you're free." Oak offered. Moon's smile somehow got bigger and she eagerly nodded. They all started walking away from the battlefield and back onto the sidewalks and streets of Hau'oli City.

"So, what type of Alolan Pokemon do you have? I would love to see some new Pokemon!" Ash bubbled, looking toward her with interest, Pikachu mirroring him. Moon's gave off a look of slight embarrassment.

"Well I… uh… I don't have any Pokemon." She shyly sputtered out, her voice almost quiet enough for them to not hear. Oak gave off a look of mild surprise and interest, the familiarity returning while Ash looked rather comedic , with his jaw on the floor and his eyes the size of dinner plates.

"What!? How are you going to Melemele Academy then?" Ash questioned, confusing adorning his face. Professor Oak told him that because of his Pokemon team and his accomplishments, he was pre-accepted into the academy.

"Ash you don't need Pokemon to be accepted into the school." Professor Oak lectured, but Ash was still confused. He couldn't understand how you didn't need to have Pokemon to go to a Pokemon academy. The professor sensing Ash's confusion, added on to his statement.

"Ash, there's more to Pokemon than just battling. While you're going because of your battling abilities, Moon is probably going for another reason related to Pokemon." The professor clarified.

"Oh, that makes sense." Ash replied, feeling a bit stupid for only thinking that battling was all to Pokemon.

"I'm going to Melemele to research Pokemon." Moon stated. Professor Oak nodded, certain on something.

"You wouldn't have happened to write the research article on Zaptos, Articuno and Moltres travel patterns?" Oak asked Moon. Ash gave a look of confusement, as Moon looked surprised at what the professor asked.

"I-I did. It's the article I used to help me get accepted into Melemele Academy." Moon nervously replied, surprised that the Kanto professor knew of her article. The professor gave her a proud grin.

"I knew it. I've read that article. Because of your article, some researchers and I have been able to more accurately predict where the legendary birds are! Who knew that the person who wrote the article was so young!" Professor Oak remarked, causing the pale girl's cheek to light up red. Ash didn't know anything about the article or any of the details, but anyone who could make the professor gush did something quite amazing.

Ash was going to comment on the conversation, but his words fell short as he looked to see some rather remarkable buildings. The massive sized buildings looked brand new, sleeked with a modern look. Between these buildings were grass fields and walkways where crowds of people were on with basic battlefields where trainers were already battling each other. But what caught his attention the most was off in the distance, was a giant structure looking to be a Pokemon arena.

"Ah, we are here." The professor announced, a proud look on his face, seeing the campus.

"Woah, this is amazing!" Moon marveled in awe. Her mouth was hanging open in awe and Ash and Pikachu were the same.

"Well, let's go up to the registration-" Professor Oak couldn't finish his statement as someone bustled right past him.

"EXCUSE ME! COMING THRU!" A dark green haired kid yelled at people as he made his way toward the battlefield.

"Ah… is there no one to battle?!" The guy moaned as two trainers were already battling on one of the fields nearby.

Ash picking up on the words the really tanned kid said, he completely forgot yet again that he wasn't alone and sprinted away from Professor Oak and Moon. If he would have turned back, he would see them giving him a deadpanned look.

"I wanna battle!" The green haired kid turned his head to see a teen, similarly looking age as him, with a Pikachu.

"Awesome! I'm Hau by the way." He introduced with a lofty smile, rivaling Moon's smile.

"I'm Ash and this is my partner Pikachu!" Ash introduced with similar energy to Hau.

"Pikachu!"

"Alright! Let's do a one-on-one battle then!" Hau suggested, already making his way toward one side of the field, a Pokeball in his hand. Ash nodded at him.

"Pikachu, I choose you!"

Lillie walked on pathways of the campus, not setting a foot onto the grass in order not dirty up her perfectly clean white shoes. She sighed as she walked around aimlessly. She was bored. After already getting checked in and getting her room card with a list of her classes earlier today, and saying goodbye to her mother, she had no clue what to do. While most teens her age would probably go up and meet new people, to make new friends, she couldn't at all. She scolded herself in her mind, wishing she wasn't so shy and bad at making friends her age.

She would like to go into her room, which unfortunately she had to share with a girl named Moon, but the cards wouldn't work until after orientation, which was still an hour away. She made her way to a bench and sat down, her eyes looking around until landing near a battlefield she was close by. She looked at two trainers, looking to be similar in age, who looked like they were about to begin a battle. A Pikachu jumped off one of the trainer's shoulders onto the field and the other guy released an Umbreon.

"Pikachu, let's get started with Quick Attack!" The black-haired boy yelled, his fist pumped. Pikachu, in a burst of incredible speed, dashed his way over to Umbreon and his trainer had no time to shout a command as Pikachu rammed its body into the Umbreon, sending the Pokemon slightly back. The other trainer looked slightly shocked by how fast that Pikachu was. Even Lillie had to admit, her eyes barely kept up with the yellow Pokemon.

"Umbreon use Double Team to surround Pikachu, then use Sand Attack!" The green-haired teen commanded, quickly getting over his shock. Umbreon gave a curt nod before following his trainer orders exactly. Sand flew everywhere, about to get into Pikachu's eyes but the trainer had an answer.

"Use Iron Tail on the ground as a spring!" He yelled.

"Pika CHU." Pikachu slammed it's now metallic tail into the ground, launching himself high up in the air to avoid the sand attack, the disturbance of the Iron Tail on the ground also got rid of the multiple Umbreons.

"Now use Electro Ball!" Pikachu spun in the air, a ball of electricity forming before firing straight at Umbreon. The Umbreon trainer again looked shocked at how easily and effectively the Pikachu trainer countered that so quickly as the Electro Ball hit his Umbreon.

"Umbreon are you alright!" Hau asked the Moonlight Pokemon who responded with a nod.

"Your Pikachu is pretty strong Ash! But we're not giving up!" The trainer yelled, a grin on his face.

"Bring it on Hau! Show us what you got!" He responded back. Lillie picked up on their names before refocusing on the battle in front of her.

"Umbreon use Payback!" Umbreon dashed forward, dark energy covered its body, twice as powerful as a normal Payback.

"Shit!" Pikachu had no chance to dodge as he was still falling from earlier, getting slammed by Umbreon.

"Pikachu fire back with Thunderbolt!" Pikachu quickly recovered from Umbreon's previous attack, sparked with electricity and fired the Thunderbolt straight at Umbreon.

"Counter with Dark Pulse!" Hau shouted. Umbreon released a dark beam from its mouth, blocking the Thunderbolt for a split second before the Thunderbolt overpowered the Dark Pulse, striking Umbreon.

Unbeknownst to the two trainers, a crowd started to form to watch the battle.

"Grr, that Pikachu is powerful! No matter, we won't lose! Umbreon, Double Team and then use Dark Pulse!" Umbreon split itself into a dozen copies, all preparing a Dark Pulse.

"Pikachu, use Quick Attack to dodge and to get rid of all the copies!" Ash quickly commanded. Pikachu burst past the Dark Pulses and ran into the Umbreons. Some Dark Pulse ended up hitting other Umbreon. It wasn't long before Pikachu bodied the real Umbreon. Though Ash wasn't going to let up in the slightest.

"Now use Iron Tail!" The mouse Pokemon rammed its Tail into the Umbreon sending him flying.

"Pikachu, let's finish this up!" Ash shouted, seeing a victory in sight.

"Pi pika pi!"

Ash didn't notice the smirk appearing on Hau's face.

"Let's turn the tide Umbreon in one move!" Hau grabbed a light gray crystal and put it into a bracelet. Ash stared at him confused as to what he was doing. His confusion was doubled when Hau tapped the crystal, causing the crystal to glow and he started to do some weird dance. Lillie watched in amazement Hau and his Umbreon started to glow with power.

"Umbreon use Breakneck Blitz!" Hau shouted. Umbreon's body glowed with power and surged forward toward the Pikachu. Ash looked shocked at the move Hau performed, seeming to be unfamiliar with it before breaking out his shock.

"Pikachu use Iron Tail to stop Umbreon!" Pikachu swung its tail in front to block the glowing Umbreon. For a few moments, it seemed Pikachu was withholding Umbreon, but Hau smirked.

"That won't stop us! Let's go Umbreon!" Hau passionately shouted. To the surprise of Pikachu and Ash, Umbreon charged forward, overcoming the Iron Tail and slamming into Pikachu. Pikachu was thrown back very far.

"Pikachu!" Ash cried. He ran Pikachu struggling to get up, before falling flat onto the crowd, fainting.

And there we have it. The second chapter done. Ik Ik, the battle was short, but further battles will be longer with more action. I just needed a short battle to introduce Ash to Hau and Z-moves.

So in this chapter I introduced Moon. Are you guys fine with the name Moon or should it be Selene? Personally I like the name Moon better but if you guys want I can change it. So another thing… the shippings. I honestly don't know who's going to end up with who. There's definitely going to be much more drama than my other stories revolving on who likes who and whatnot. I'm going to let the story progress to see who I want the characters to end up with, but expect moments from both AshxLillie and AshxMoon and possibly more.

Moon is also a bit of a Brainiac xD

Another thing I forgot to mention in the last chapter, Ash still has Greninja. I think that's everything.

That's it for now
