Chapter 6:

The next morning Sam wakes up to find Andy gone from the bed. He hears the shower. He carefully sits up, yawns, and looks at the clock. It's only 6:12. They have over an hour before they need to be at work.

Sam decides to see what McNally has that he could cook them for breakfast.

Andy comes out of the bathroom and goes right back in. The smell of bacon has her heaving.

Sam hears her and comes up behind her.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah… uh… are you cooking bacon?" She asks before hurling into her toilet.

Sam sits behind her and pulls her hair out of the way and rubs her back.

"Yes."

"Can you get rid of it please?"

He stands up and does what she asks by putting it in a zip lock bag (for him for later) and then running the pan under some water.

He turns on the living room fan to help air it out.

Andy comes out after brushing her teeth and using mouthwash and lights a vanilla scented candle.

"Well… your baby is obviously not a fan of bacon." Sam says.

She sighs. "I know. And coffee… and pizza… and cheese… I'm gonna starve."

He chuckles.

"You won't… we can find something the little frog will tolerate."

She smiles.

"The little frog?"

Sam blushes.

"Oh um… well it's dad IS a toad… so…"

She laughs out loud and hugs Sam from behind.

"I love how you make me laugh."

He turns around and hugs her closer.

"Well… we gotta have some humor in the day… right McNally?"

"I guess."

"Okay… so what do you eat for breakfast? Because we have about 30 minutes and we need to stop at my place so I can change clothes."

"Uh… I guess I'll make some toast."

"Okay. I'll wait and eat the bacon when you aren't around and I guess I'll wait for coffee till the station."

She smiles.

"Thanks Sam."

"Anytime McNally."

During parade they find out they are not riding together.

Andy has been detailed to help Detective Barber with a missing teenager. Sam is partnered with Peck.

What a fun day this will be. Sam thinks.

Andy gives him Sam a smile as she heads to Jerry's office, holding her breath as she passes the coffee station.

He smiles back.

Luke just happened to walk in and see the smiles between the two.

"Hey Andy…. Can we talk?" Luke asks.

"No. I have to help Detective Barber today. Leave me alone." She snaps.

"Fine. But this isn't over yet Andy. I'm not giving up."

She spins to glare at him. She thinks his words would be sweet if he meant them. No, he meant he wasn't giving up trying to keep her like some prize. She however was giving up.

"Luke. You should give up. I'm done with us. We are done." And she walked into Jerry's office without knocking.

Luckily Jerry didn't mind. He was just ready to find this missing person and for some reason SGT. Best sent him McNally.
