Okay so I have had this idea in my head for awhile and just had to write it! It is based on the Netflix show Black Mirror. Check out the episode San Junipero if you have not!
Oh girls, they wanna have fun. Oh girls just wanna have fun. Girls they wanna, wanna have fun…
"Cyndi Lauper with one of her biggest hits of 1984! And next we have Tina Turner with What's Love got to do with it!" excitedly said a man Beca could hear from the car radio that drove past. She couldn't help but smile at how great it felt to just walk and feel the wind against her face. To just smell the sweet smell of a summer night. She looked ahead at the place everyone seemed to be drawn towards. The place looked to be a dance club. Above the place there was a bright blue sign that read Bellas. Beca figured why not, it was her first night and she had 3 hours left. Might as well make the most of it. As Beca walked and looked around she smiled in amazement. Everything was just as she remembered it, only better. As she made her way to the bar she watched as some girls were playing the game Pac-Man, a game that she remembered well after all these years.
"What can I get you shortstack?" asked a blonde girl with an Australian accent.
"Excuse me?" replied Beca.
"Your drink? What will it be?" asked the blonde.
"A coke," replied Beca.
"Jack and coke, excellent choice! I call mine Kangaroo Jack, on account that it has quite the kick!" laughed the blonde.
"What? No, I meant just a coke," replied Beca.
"Just a coke? You are a strange one shortstack," said the blonde.
"I'm just trying to get my bearings," said Beca.
"Oh, I see! Well the name is Fat Amy. Have any questions I am your girl. Been a resident here going on 9, no 10 years now," said Fat Amy.
"Oh wow, that long ugh," replied Beca.
"Yeah, took some time deciding on where I wanted to stay. Something about this decade was always special to me. You a resident or just visiting?" asked Fat Amy.
"Just visiting," replied Beca.
"Well have fun. Hope to see you back," said Fat Amy with a smile.
"Thanks," said Beca shyly as she took her drink and sat down at the nearest booth.
Caribbean Queen, now we're sharing the same dream. And our hearts they beat as one. No more love on the run
As the music played Beca could not help but stare at the door as a redhead walked in as a guy with dark hair trailed behind her. The girl looked annoyed. Beca could overhear them as they passed by the booth.
"Come on Chloe, we only have a couple of hours left, let's make the most of it," said the boy.
"I am making the most of it Chicago. Look do I have to red light you?" asked Chloe.
"Oh come on Chlo, we only have 2 hours and 45 minutes. Last week we had the most amazing time," said Chicago.
"Last week was last week Chicago. There you are!" said Chloe as she looked right as Beca.
"Huh?" asked Beca as she watched Chloe slide into Beca's booth.
"Sorry I'm late," said Chloe apologetically.
"Um ok," said Beca confused.
The look Chloe was giving her told her that she just wanted this creep gone.
"Wondered what happened to you," said Beca awkwardly as she sipped her coke.
"Fine Chloe, I'll see you next week," said Chicago as he made his way over to a blonde at the bar.
"Thanks for that. I met him at the Treblemakers last week and we had a good time, but apparently he thought it meant more than it was. I'm Chloe by the way," said the redhead.
"Beca," relied Beca.
"Beca, cute name. I always liked that name," thought Chloe.
"Thanks," replied Beca as she sipped her coke.
"Let me buy you a drink," said Chloe.
"I'm good, I don't drink," answered Beca.
"Oh come on, not like it's going to kill you," laughed Chloe as she drug Beca to the bar and sat.
"Ames, two Kangaroo Jacks!" yelled Chloe to Fat Amy.
Beca was hesitant as she took a sip. It had been so long since she had felt that burning sensation in her throat as it traveled down her spine.
"First time drinking?" asked Chloe surprised.
"No, it's just been a very long time," replied Beca as she took another sip.
"Do you live here?" asked Chloe.
"No," replied Beca.
"Tourist?" asked Chloe.
"Let's go with that," replied Beca.
"You new here? I feel like I've seen you before," said Chloe.
"First night actually," said Beca.
"First night, well okay," said Chloe as she downed the rest of her drink.
"Oh my god I love this song! Dance with me?" yelled Chloe as she jumped off the barstool.
"Oh no, I don't dance," said Beca shyly.
"Oh come on, live a little," said Chloe as she drug Beca out to the dance floor.
Chloe swayed and moved to the music. Beca couldn't help but stare. Those eyes, that red hair. The way she smelled and the way she talked. Suddenly Beca felt some type of way that she hadn't felt in years. And then she thought back to a night, that night. Suddenly the room started to spin and Beca needed to get out of there. To get some air. She bolted towards the back door. She ran out the back door into the alley. She kneeled against the brick wall of the building and took a deep breath.
"Are you okay? You just ran away?" asked Chloe.
"Sorry I just needed some air," replied Beca as she stood up.
"It's cool. Sorry if was a little pushy in there. Saturday nights are once a week and it never lasts long enough," said Chloe.
"No, it's not that. It's just been so long," replied Beca.
"Since you danced?" asked Chloe curiously.
"Forget it," said Beca sadly.
"Tell you what, why don't we head back to my place and make the most of our remaining two hours," said Chloe as she put her hand on Beca's leg.
"Woah, sorry I can't. I'm engaged. His name is Jesse," said Beca as she backed away.
"Is Jesse here?" asked Chloe.
"No, elsewhere. I have to go," said Beca as she backed away.
"It was nice meeting you," shouted Chloe as she watched Beca walk away.
"Goodnight," said Beca as she continued to walk.
Beca rounded the corner and breathed a sign of relief when she knew Chloe was out of sight. She was surprised after all these years her heart could still feel this way about someone. Especially when that someone is the girl that broke your heart 60 years ago and doesn't even remember doing it, or you.
